So, I know this may be a bit early, but Dua is surely a shoe in for nominations at least! If so, what could she be up for and will she win any of them and give us a performance?

I'm thinking shoe-in nominations in just about every available category tbh. 'New Rules' seems to be a definite for Video and Single. Also, due to her having a huge year, British Solo Female will be likely too. The only one I'm not TOO sure on is "Best British Album"

I think likely wins for British Female and possibly Single. Video just depends on if her fans are strong enough to over come the likes of Little Mix, Ed Sheeran and The Directioners (I'm hoping the directioners will all cancel each other out tbh...) then I don't think, if she's up for album, anyone will beat Ed or Stormzy in that category, imo.

British Female could always go to Paloma again though, so, who knows!

Very early to predict but I would love a British Single OR Video win for "New Rules" although I know one of them is fan-voted which she won't win, so the other one would be fine. Would also love a British Female win, I don't think Paloma's album is going to be as big as her label thinks it will.

British Breakthrough nomination is also pretty much done but she won't win that either as it's fan-voted and a female soloist hasn't won that since Duffy laugh.gif sad.gif And I very much doubt they would nominate a female pop musician for British Album on their debut without massive sales.

For once I will have someone to route for. I'm never normally a fan of British artists so always hate every nomination except for the international awards laugh.gif Pull through Dua wub.gif

I can't see how anyone else will be British Female, single and video I'm not sure on, single perhaps but video is fan voted iirc. Album there is absolutely NO chance sadly even though it is the best British album of the year.

I hope she wins every award she's up for!

No doubt they'll find a way to hand the British Female award to someone else to appease the traditionalists who like "proper music" though, sigh.

Hopefully she'll get Best Female and Single, she deserves Video to but that will be the usual 1D award rolleyes.gif Album will easily go to Ed Sheeran surely?

I'll be annoyed if there isn't a nomination for single, video and best female. In an ideal world she'd sweep for video as that's the one she's most deserving of but I can imagine there being stiff competition in the singles category.

Vid will 1 million % be Sign Of The Times and to be fair, I wouldn't really argue against that one this time!

And the only thing even more certain than that will be Divide winning the album award.

Which only realistically leaves best female (I don't think she's eligible for "Breakthru" as HTH went top 20?) altho there's been some inconsistency with that rule in the past hasn't there? And there's no-one else I'd rather see get it! (Well Ella Eyre I'd rather but she doesn't deserve it over DL).

The Brits have announced that Dua will be performing at The Brits 2018 in February!

I’m guessing it’ll be New Rules or Be The One into New Rules, either way it’s huge for her.

Well Two Lips has had a UK number 1 single this year and is also from the UK so this is unsurprising I think!

FIVE nominations at this year's ceremony - British Album, Female, Breakthrough, Single and Video - more than anyone else! So over the moon for her and of course she deserves to win every single award! wub.gif

You can vote once every day for her to win British Video by tweeting #BritVidDuaLipa!

EDIT: Apparently 5 noms for a female artist is a BRITs record! Queen *.*

It's so amazing she's managed 5 nominations! Incredible!! I think she could realistically win Female, Breakthrough and Single so here's hoping. Three wins would be amazing!

That's a very impressive statistic & one I can scarcely believe given the likes of Adele & Emeli Sande...

However the only one I can see her winning is Breakthrough so not getting my hopes up too much.

Wow at her having a record! Surely she'll get breakthrough and female? She could get single but I'm thinking that will go to Ed Sheeran (ofc) and album is 1000000000% Ed's rolleyes.gif Video will be a fanbase vote so will end up being a 1D soloist.

I'm not convinced Shape of You will get Best Single - like last year Rockabye was the obvious front runner but it went to Little Mix. The same might happen with New Rules?

It's always something completely random & unpredictable like when Waiting All Night won a few years back, that's why I'm predicting it to be Feels.

QUOTE(Theo. @ Jan 13 2018, 06:59 PM) *
EDIT: Apparently 5 noms for a female artist is a BRITs record! Queen *.*

I checked this in relation to Adele and Emeli - the former had three nominations in 2012 (no award for British Video existed then) and four in 2016 but also won Global Success that year with no official list of nominees. The latter had four noms in 2013 including two for British Single but her British Breakthrough nomination was actually in 2012, the same year that she won Critics' Choice. Ellie Goulding actually had five nominations in 2014 but two of those were as a featured artist in the British Single/Video categories. Leona Lewis also had four nominations in 2008 as did Duffy in 2009.

I think Dua has a good shot at British Single! I don't think Calvin has ever won a BRIT Award and "Feels" was hardly his best single of 2017 so would be thoroughly undeserving of that award. I think Ed and Dua are the most likely winners but obviously I would love for it to go to Dua! The British Video teen vote will most likely be split between the three ex One Direction soloists so I would love an upset of any kind there - although that award has only ever been given to One Direction since it was reintroduced in 2014 mellow.gif
