What happened Poker Face in Italy or is it still climbing?

Posted by: Jur 22nd April 2009, 07:05 PM

I'm not sure about the Italian chart as I believe there are more versions..
And I only found this chart this far:

http://italiancharts.com/weekchart.asp?cat=s

This week it's moving 19-17 in that chart.

Updates/corrections are welcome btw! happy.gif

Posted by: Nick F1 22nd April 2009, 07:17 PM

On this chart site, she is top 10:

http://acharts.us/italy_singles_top_50

Posted by: Bibliotheque 22nd April 2009, 07:31 PM

Just Dance also went to #1 in the Netherlands (Holland) and it's 3xPlatinum in Australia and USA.

Hopefully GaGa does some promo in Italy for Poker Face!

Posted by: Jonjo 22nd April 2009, 08:05 PM

'Poker Face' really has become quite the WW SMASH! ohmy.gif

When was the last time a song hit number 1 in that many countries? ('Bleeding Love'?)

Posted by: Bibliotheque 22nd April 2009, 09:40 PM

IKAG was #1 in something like 24 countries I think.

Posted by: Ethereal 23rd April 2009, 12:52 AM

Thanks Jur for your hard work as always. smile.gif Love seeing these.

Posted by: Slowpoke 23rd April 2009, 04:38 PM

PF has gone number one in 20+ countries though the charts are rather unreliable. According the official Italian charts website, it's peak thus far is http://www.fimi.it/classifiche_result_digital.php?anno=2009&mese=04&id=187 (as of two days ago).

I use the top 100 instead of the top 40. She reached #1 inside the top 40 and #4 inside the top 100. Though both charts have their - points, I prefer to use the top 100 as it's based on sales/downloads only. And thanx, I'll update the certifications!

And I'm confused about the Italian chart as we have 3 versions now....

Can someone clear this up wink.gif ?

And you're very welcome Ethereal!

Posted by: Steve69 21st May 2009, 06:21 PM

eugh, not what i wanted.

She should just come back with a new album, but if she is doing it because he songs are in the same vein call it The Fame 2.

Posted by: Jur 21st May 2009, 06:47 PM

I knew it!! Though I was temped a lot of times, I'm really glad I haven't bought the album yet!

Posted by: Just Being Kath 21st May 2009, 07:02 PM

Urghh what a mood kill.. Another Rihanna GGGB-esque era.. Don't think I'll bother buying this. A new follow-up album would've been so much better, her fans will probably get the impression she's now out for only commercial success and not doing something new or different/something true to herself..

Milking an era annoys the $h!t out of me, the focus is supposed to be on the album, not the singles. Now there'll probably end up somewhat 8 or 9 singles after the Deluxe Edition? That's just not the point. GaGa has too much talent to just live off "The Fame" =/ I really hope this gets called-off though and the 2nd album does come into closer consideration ..

Posted by: Bibliotheque 22nd May 2009, 04:07 PM

^ The focus is the album, more singles = more album sales, deluxe = more album sales

Anyway it's not going to be just a few tracks added like some re-releases, she said lots of new material.

Posted by: Just Being Kath 23rd May 2009, 01:41 PM

^ Then she might as well do a few more new material and compile it into a new studio album. It's as if she's sponging off this era and like she's too afraid to release a whole new album incase it doesn't live up to this.. It's a bit Leona/Rihanna copycatish but anyway hopefuly the new songs yield some no.1s and boost the album to go 2x Platinum in both the US and UK - I get your point there, just my preference was to have a whole new album and era. .

Posted by: Bibliotheque 23rd May 2009, 07:31 PM

Yeah I get your point and tbh I want both, a re-release with a whole new disc and 2 singles late this year/early spring then next summer a new album cool.gif

Also, someone pointed this out on ATRL - poor xtina rotf.gif

Posted by: tears of a clown 24th May 2009, 04:13 AM

I'll probably buy it.

Lady Gaga Speaks: Re-Release Of 'The Fame' + Her hair is real.
I'm not planning on releasing a new album until next year, but I shall do a re-release of the same this year with a lot of brand new music.

I've been performing since I was very young, I've always been a singer and performer but I used to work as a waitress, a go-go dancer and I performance art shows in New York City.

I have short hair now and every bit of it is my real hair. When I wear hair sculptures it's extensions, but if you see me with my bob, it's all my real hair.

There were two people I really wanted to collaborate with, and I just did! Everyone will know soon.

I always knew how to play piano. Piano is an instrument learned over a period of time but they say once you're good at it, it never leaves you. It's a good hobby to have - you never lose it

Source: Gagadaily.com

Posted by: RyRy 28th May 2009, 05:56 PM

Oo interesting! Wonder who the two people she worked with are!

Posted by: spicefunk 29th May 2009, 12:23 AM

Hmmm. Will probably end up getting this too. It seems silly though, if there is going to be so many new tracks/ a second disc, at what point is it more like a new album anyway? It could be like Doll Domination: The Mini album (with all her previous singles) simply tacked on to effectively a whole new album. Hopefully she'll take this chance to chop off the last quarter of the fame and replace it with tracks of the standard of the first quarter!

Posted by: danieljohn. 29th May 2009, 02:08 PM

I wonder if she'll remove all the un-useable tracks from The Fame and replace them with new ones, a la Kelly Rowland's Ms Kelly: Deluxe re-release.

GaGa's confirmed in a conference in Singapore that the title for the Deluxe Edition will be entitled "The Fame: The Monster". =o

Posted by: aloud and proud 15th June 2009, 08:56 PM

That's an interesting title. I wonder what's going to be so monstrous about it. Maybe the Love Game thing with Marilyn Manson will be included on this edition?

Posted by: Steve69 15th June 2009, 09:01 PM

the fact that they'll be around 20+ tracks maybe?

Posted by: aloud and proud 15th June 2009, 09:04 PM

The Fame The Monster sounds a little silly even if it does have that amount of tracks on it. I'd prefer something else as its title but not this title.

Posted by: Nate88 15th June 2009, 10:27 PM

i like it, so gaga, so random

Posted by: Slick 15th June 2009, 10:29 PM

Damn! I bought it the other day. I KNEW there was a reason I shouldn't have! pirate.gif

Posted by: Nate88 16th June 2009, 06:55 AM

i think it has something to do about her story at the start of her show. remember she talks about the monster?

Posted by: Dried Tears 16th June 2009, 08:10 AM

Love this title. A title I quite expected from her, random and original. Perfect.
She just needs to release this now! The cover art should be quite spectacular as well. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Kath 16th June 2009, 08:57 AM

I wonder if she'll be removing any of the original tracks to make room for the planned 6 new ones, or will it be an album of 21-24 songs on it =|. Even for a Deluxe Edition that is quite a 'monstrous' number laugh.gif

The Fame: Monster

Probably that she's comparing fame to a monster?

Posted by: Kath 19th June 2009, 09:58 PM

^ I think she's describing herself as a monster, which monstrously craves more fame - obviously through the rerelease. Something along those lines.

QUOTE
We always knew Lady Gaga was a bit off the wall but her latest obsession even has us a little freaked... death and sex!?!

The pop star has admitted her love of horror flicks and fetish clothing is creeping into her music after revealing: “I have an obsession with death and sex. Those two things are also the nexus of horror films, which I’ve been obsessing over lately. I’ve been watching horror movies and 1950s science fiction movies.

“My re-release is called The Fame Monster so I’ve just been sort of bulimically eating and regurgitating monster movies and all things scary.”

She went onto say: “If you notice in those films, there’s always a juxtaposition of sex with death. That’s what makes it so scary. Body and mind are primed for orgasm and instead somebody gets killed. That’s the sort of sick, twisted psychological circumstance.”

Just stuck this here as she mentions The Fame Monster.

I never get tired of hearing the stuff she comes out with heehee.gif

Slightly exaggeration with "over and over" for Leona.

QUOTE
Lady Gaga, a 23-year-old pop star and New York University dropout, appears to be taking another page from her role model Madonna.

William Morris Endeavor, which represents the singer, is shopping Lady Like, a full-color book that would give Lady Gaga—whose real name is Stefani Germanotta—a springboard similar to Madonna’s 1992 coffee-table tome Sex.

“Lady Like will combine images with lyrics, diary entries, interviews, inspirations and quotes from Gaga’s heroes,” reads the proposal sent to publishers recently by Lady Gaga’s agent, Bill Clegg. “Lady Like will explode with pops, bangs and winks.”

The proposal has been greeted with some skepticism. “She’s dreaming,” says one industry executive, noting how expensive a full-color book would be to produce. But another insider thinks the book could work at the right price. “She’s everywhere,” he says.

Mr. Clegg did not return calls.

But fans won't have to wait for that for their next Gaga fix. The diva/provocateur/incendiary-bomb pop star told Rolling Stone that her debut's re-release, The Fame Monster (due November 24th), will include a "ton" of new songs. "I think re-releases are unfair," said Gaga, her mile-long fake lashes practically batting the bangs of her platinum blond wig with every blink. "It's artists sneaking singles onto an already finished piece of work in an effort to keep the album afloat. Originally [my label]only wanted me to put out three songs and now it's much more than that. It's a new album's worth of material."

Gaga, sitting at a table in the New York Palace Hotel's library, says it's a complete coincidence that her album shares a name with her new headphone brand. "It's so funny because I had already written a song for my re-release called ‘Monster' back in March" — three months before she met with Dr. Dre and the Noel Lee, the head of Monster, to discuss the collaboration. "I said, ‘I can't believe you guys are called Monster because I'm obsessed with monster movies right now and I'm kind of obsessing over the decay of the celebrity and the way that fame is a monster in society!' That's what my new record is about, so it was kind of a perfect fit."

8 NEW SONGS w00t.gif

QUOTE
Lady Gaga announced today that she will release The Fame Monster, a re-package of her 4 million-selling album The Fame. The album will include the entire breakthrough album The Fame, along with eight entirely new songs. The Fame Monster (Streamline/KonLive/Cherrytree/Interscope Records), deals with the seamier side of fame, as experienced by Gaga over the course of her last history-making year. The new version will be released on November 24, 2009.

Says Lady Gaga, “On my re-release The Fame Monster, I wrote about everything I didn’t write on The Fame. While traveling the world for two years, I’ve encountered several monsters, each represented by a different song on the new record: my ‘Fear of Sex Monster,’ my ‘Fear of Alcohol Monster,’ my ‘Fear of Love Monster,’ my ‘Fear of Death Monster,’ my ‘Fear of Loneliness Monster,’ etc.”

“I spent a lot of nights in Eastern Europe, and this album is a pop experimentation with industrial/Goth beats, 90’s dance melodies, an obsession with the lyrical genius of 80’s melancholic pop, and the runway. I wrote while watching muted fashion shows and I am compelled to say my music was scored for them. I also composed a ballad for the album, ‘Speechless,’ a song for my father, and it’s my favorite work of all. I wrote every piece on the road – no songs about money, no songs about fame. I wrote it for my fans, so I wrote everything in between.”

The first club-banging single, the RedOne-produced “Bad Romance,” will be released in early November. Other collaborators on the new tracks include Teddy Riley, Rodney Jerkins, Ron Fair and Fernando Garibay.

Lady Gaga is also in the process of planning her next tour after her co-headlining tour with Kanye West was canceled last week.

Posted by: Mwa Kath Mwa 9th October 2009, 03:20 PM

I'm seriously counting down the days for this, Speechless will most probably be a Brown Eyes part two but I sort-of consider No Way as a ballad, just more up-tempo. So by saying the album's going to have one new ballad, surely that cuts No Way out of the picture? ;o Sure hope not. sad.gif

If they just cut out one chorus out of Bad Romance and shorten No Way's outro and extend its intro - it would be immaculate (assuming No Way does make the album). The intro is much more haunting and grabbing than the lengthy outro, which I've started skipping as of recently.

Posted by: David 9th October 2009, 03:38 PM

I love Bad Romance being nearly five minutes long! One of those songs I don't really want to end so when it keeps on going it's well good. dance.gif

Um i dont think anything has been confirmed.

Posted by: Mwa Kath Mwa 10th October 2009, 04:31 AM

No way, just no way. The covers have exactly the right concept but they look so unfinished, there's just no way GaGa could allow this, she prides herself in her music, her art and then she allows really amateur front covers to package all her hard work! I just don't see her doing that, and like Bad Romance, I think they just might do a properly finished version of each of the covers so they can at least look decent. Well, I'm praying that happens! drama.gif If she combined both those images into one it would look much better already.

Some more details:

QUOTE
It’s been widely reported, but Universal Music Australia has now made it official – Lady Gaga will re-release her debut album ‘The Fame’ to include eight new tracks and a new (slightly extended) name, ‘The Fame Monster’. With sales of the original album now busting through the four million mark worldwide, fans’ appetite for Gaga will once again be whet when the first single from the re-release, ‘Bad Romance’ is sent to local radio on October 19.

‘The Fame Monster’ won’t only include eight new tracks, it’ll be released in a two disc set with all new artwork – and a limited edition cover with an initial run of just 10,000 copies.

There’s also a ’super-deluxe magazine-style edition’ of ‘The Fame Monster’ set for release in December which will include ‘extra elements’ and never before seen photos.

Interscope Records over in the United States have just revealed the cover images for the forthcoming repackage of Lady Gaga’s album ‘The Fame’. ‘The Fame Monster’, released in Australia on November 20, will come in two editions.

As mentioned on auspOp earlier today, the deluxe edition cover will be limited to just 10,000 copies in it’s original print run. A limited edition version of the album is also planned for a December release.

The bleeding eye one is terrible.

The other one would be impressive with no font. Textless would be amaze tbh. No pop star does that nowadays.

Posted by: Bad Romance 11th October 2009, 07:04 PM

they are not horrific artwork its just they are mediocre for her standards, the font is $h!t and she had so much better options she could have used like the out photoshoot which would have been 3 times better !

Posted by: Jaden 11th October 2009, 07:56 PM

I agree with your point about the font, haven't seen that photoshoot either. I'm just saying it seems like nobody is never happy with anything and that the covers arent the best and they arent the worst either but its about the album's songs not its front cover!

Some information-filled quotes from her interview with Rolling Stone:

QUOTE
This is a new album. It's 8 songs, I could have put more on it, but I decided not because I thought they fit beautifully together. I'm really excited about all my new work, and I've been going through some really wonderful times and some really really rough times all at once, so it's been really good for my artistry. On the re-release, I wrote this song called "Speechless", which I think is the best song I've ever written. It's about my dad, it's a really beautiful ballad. It's piano driven, and there's no beat on it, it's all live instruments. I produced it with Ron Fair, so we did a full live orchestra, recorded everything with live guitar and bass with me playing piano. We got that really organic delicious feeling.
Dying to hear Speechless now!

And here's her statement on the album cover fiasco! drama.gif
QUOTE
My record label didn't want to put out that photo that's my album cover, with the brown hair. It was World War III. They were like, "It's confusing, it's too dark, you look gothic, it's not pop", and I said "You don't know what pop is, because everyone was telling me I wasn't pop last year, and now look - so don't tell me what pop is, I know what pop is." It's funny, because I fought, fought and fought and I actually ended up having two covers, because I wanted to do this yin and yang presentation with the covers. When I go to see what my fans are saying, I go onto GaGaDaily - they see the cover and say, "I don't really like the blonde one, but the brown one is f***ing sick." They love it, and I know what they love, so I make it for them. I don't care what anybody else wants.

PopJustice.com: right – so we've heard Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster and it's a pretty astonishing piece of work. Lyrically, sonically, melodically and conceptually it's right up there with its predecessor The Fame, with a definite feel of things moving in a new direction.

We know a lot of you are thinking that this is just a cash-in reissue of The Fame with a few tracks chucked on. It's not that at all – this is a collection of songs in its own right. When you buy this you will not be buying The Fame again in order to get at a couple of extra songs – you'll be buying a new album which just so happens to have a copy of The Fame in the same box.

If it helps make sense of things, imagine purchasing The Fame Monster 2-disc set then throwing the The Fame CD away. In fact that is what you should actually do when you get this. Throw The Fame out of the window. The Fame Monster is a real album with its own personality.

In brief: Eight tracks. Four potential singles. No $h!t songs. Here's a track by track:

Bad Romance
"Poker Face" reinvented. Can you believe that some people have said that this song sounds too much like "Poker Face"? As if anything could sound too much like one of the best songs of 2008/09? It would be like saying 'the problem with this restaurant is that the food is too nice and too reasonably priced', or 'the problem with this hat is that it makes me look too attractive'. Now imagine wearing an amazing hat in the world's best restaurant. THAT IS WHAT THIS SONG IS LIKE.

Alejandro
It sounds like this. And by 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDjKduJ3tKU' we mean an amazing romantic post-Italotronic triumph.

Monster
Opens with snatches of dialogue ('Don't call me Gaga', 'I've never seen one like that before', 'Don't look at me like that') then launches into a story of Gaga pulling a "wolf in disguise". The chorus is a big chant of "that boy is a monster, that boy is a monster" and there are some 'Just Dance'-isms along the way too. There's a great breakdown for the middle eight: "I wanna just dance but he took me home instead, uh-oh there was a monster in my bed, we French kissed on a subway train, he tore my clothes right off, he ate my heart and then he ate my brain".

So Happy I Could Die
A mid-tempo number with some Tiesto-esque ravey bits, some references to The Act Of Masturbation, and a chorus lyric "happy in the club with a bottle of red wine, stars in our eyes 'cos we're having a good time, so happy I could die". Not a single but an important part of the whole 'Fame Monster' thing.

Speechless
At one point this was a big piano ballad but since Ron Fair's production has been added it's more along the lines of a 'Starman' or an 'All The Young Dudes'-type affair. This is the track about Gaga's father and it seems to be written from Gaga's mother's point of view. By the time the second verse comes around there seem to be strong hints of booze ("I can't believe how you looked at me with your Johnnie Walker eyes", "raise a glass to mend all the broken hearts" etc) so it seems this is the 'Fear Of Alcohol Monster' Gaga previously mentioned. The chorus is "I'll never talk again, oh boy you've left me speechless / I'll never love again, oh friend you've left me speechless" and one of the best bits finds Gaga singing "after all the boys and the girls that we've been through, would you give it all up if I promised boy to you that I'll never talk again, and I'll never love again, I'll never write a song, or even sing along…" This is a massive, massive ballad which doesn't sound like anything else you've heard from Lady Gaga and could do for her what 'Beautiful' did for Christina Aguilera. At the very least, it's a good lighters-aloft live anthem.

Dance In The Dark
The chorus to this is amazing – imagine RedOne to the next level with a massive emotionally-charged synth riff chucked in along the way. Actually the everything to this is amazing, it opens with the words "silicone, saline, poison, inject me" and the arms-aloft, four-to-the-floor chorus is a chant of "baby loves to dance in the dark, cos when he's looking she falls apart." There's another line about "she looks good but her boyfriend says she's a tramp" – it seems to be about women who are marginalised or who are in (mentally?) abusive relationships. We may have totally missed the point of this song, and if so 'apols' in advance.
Best bit: an almost pant-wettingly excellent, 'Vogue'-style rap breakdown in which Gaga lets rip: "Marilyn, Judy, Sylvia, tell them how you feel girls [something we couldn't quite make out] hot like Liberace, find your freedom in the music, find your Jesus, find your cutie, you will never fall apart Diana, you're still in our hearts, never let you fall apart, together we'll dance in the dark". AMAZING.

Telephone
A song about being pestered by someone on the phone when you're trying to have a dance in a nitespot. It's a little bit like Gwen's 'What You Waiting For?' meets Timbaland's 'The Way I Are' meets about fifty other things. "I cannot text you with a drink in my hand," Gaga notes at one point. The structure's quite exciting: quiet harpy intro / "kinda busy, k-kinda busy" bridge as beat kicks in / verse / chorus ("stop calling, stop calling, I don't wanna talk any more") / postchorus bit / 'The Way I Are'-style rap / Beyonce rap ("should have left my phone at home cos this is a disaster") / breakdown verse / "kinda busy" bridge / chorus / another bit / 'The Way I Are' rap bit / extra 'My Humps'-esque (but not really) "my telephone! My telephone!" outro, then "we're sorry, the number you have reached is not in service" operator message. We love Beyonce insisting that some bellend on the other end of the phone won't make her get her coat any faster. Bonus fact: The guest vocalist on this was going to be someone else, but then the guest vocalist wanted to put the song on her own greatest hits album, so Lady Gaga made alternative arrangements.

Teeth
A wobbly, stompy, bouncy marching song. Opens with a "don't want no money, just want your sex" line, includes lots of chanting of "Show me your teeth! Show me your teeth!", and a foray into Black Betty territory.

That's all from one listen – this album has loads more to give up from repeated plays and we can't wait to get stuck in properly. "Monster" and "Bad Romance" have elements of "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" but these seem like knowing nods back in the direction of "The Fame", while other songs – "Dance In The Dark", "Teeth" hint at what lies ahead for the next, third Lady Gaga album.

guess Britney missed out on the guest role kink.gif im glad its Beyone tho!

Just found this on a site...

Lady Gaga was interviewed on the Elvis Duran AM show on Z100 this morning. In the interview she said that she will release at least 4 singles of "The Fame Monster"

Posted by: Tom Alpha Kay 28th October 2009, 08:55 PM

Fo reals? blink.gif I'm not sure that she'll get away with that. She realistically has a second, or maybe third, single before people want a proper new album.

Posted by: DirtySyko 28th October 2009, 08:57 PM

I reckon she could get away with releasing one more single after Bad Romance. It's pointless releasing 4 singles because the album is gonna sell bucketloads.

Posted by: RearWindow 29th October 2009, 10:27 AM

It's a new era though. I'm sure The Fame Monster is gonna be good, even Popjustice said there are four more potential singles, so three more should be ok... unsure.gif

It means the 'proper' second album should come out next year around Sep-Nov!

• Unzipped.net reviews “The Fame Monster” •

“Get dressed and come outside,” I hear my friend—we’ll call him DJ Gaga—say over my phone. “I’m down the street, I’ve got a copy of Lady Gaga’s new album The Fame Monster in the car.” CLICK. I wake up Steve (the husband), we toss on some gym clothes, groggily stumble out of the house and into DJ’s car. Needless to say, this is something we’re dying to hear.

DJ hasn’t been to sleep since last night’s gig, which is why he’s waking us up, but since random $h!t like this happens to Steve and I all the time (like crashing the Kylie Minogue after-party in LA—what?) we’re not too flustered. We just pile into DJ’s pimped-out BMW and head toward Santa Monica, going with the flow.

“Don’t want to kiss, don’t want to touch, just smoke one cigarette and run…”

DJ skips “Bad Romance” because everyone’s heard that song and starts with “Alejandro,” a Spanishy dance track that’s unlike anything from The Fame, with touches of ABBA and Euro-pop mixed in. I’m not quite sure what it was about (still waking up) but she doesn’t want Ale… Ale… Alejandro to call her name, and I’m pretty sure there’s a Fernando, and maybe a Roberto or Gilberto mixed in too. Or maybe we’d just passed too many roll taco stands and I was feeling noshy. The song was, however, crystal clear and doesn’t start like the odd versions you hear on YouTube, proving that DJ has come through once more.

“He ate my heart and then he ate my brain…”

“Monster” is the next song where she’s talking about a boy who is, duh, a monster. I know they French kissed on a subway train, then he did all that eating. It’s another crazy dance track but I doubt it’s going to be one of the main singles.

“Speechless” is next and it’s quite different from any of Gaga’s other music. At times personal and painful, at other points reflective. It’s like “Brown Eyes” on The Fame, but bigger in both production and emotion. She’s speaking about some kind of close relationship, and where so many of her songs tend to be about having fun this feels largely based in the real world.

“She’s a tramp, she’s a vamp…”

By the time we reach Westwood we’re at “Dance in the Dark,” another fun tune with a lot of sex to it. At one point Gaga starts riffing off people’s names like Madonna did in “Vogue,” and I had this sudden vision of queens on a dance floor shouting along in unison. I’d mock them but I have no doubt Steve and I will be riffing along ourselves.

“Telephone” is another track… Are you f***ing kidding me??? Single #2. For sure.

“So Happy I Could Die” has Gaga asking you to meet her in a bar with a bottle of red wine.

“Teeth” is a hard song with heavy beats that make you want to bounce around to the rhythm and pump your arms in the air… until you realize you’re almost 40 and worry that you’re starting to look tragic, so instead you bop around until the cocktails have kicked in and then you don’t care what anyone thinks and start pumping your arms in the air again. Steve described it as, “One of those songs Wade Robeson will do some kind of stomping/python/swaying dance number on So You Think You Can Dance.” Truth.

Album finished, Steve and I return home (BTW, in good traffic the album can take you from Hollywood to Santa Monica and back). We thank DJ, then spend the rest of the weekend talking about what we heard. The whole album is bigger—with more confidence in Gaga’s singing and definitely more production backing from the studio. Of course it’s coming out just in time for the holidays, but can you fault the girl for being a smart business woman? Besides, The Fame Monster [Deluxe Edition] is worth the money. Where most re-releases toss on a couple songs that were castoffs from the previous album, this is a whole different album. It’s inspired by The Fame but doesn’t imitate it, and takes listeners on a new journey that they’ll be dancing along to well after the holidays.

"Alejandro" and "Dance In The Dark" will be released as digital singles from The Fame Monster in November. . GagaDaily will exclusively announce which song will become the second single next week.

Anyway here's their covers:

cherrytreerec Lady Gaga's Alejandro & Dance in the Dark were going 2 b avail Nov 10 on iTunes but we weren't able to make it work. It's back to Nov 23rd.

cherrytreerec Lady Gaga's The Fame-Monster (The Fame album + 8 brand new songs including Bad Romance, Alejandro & Dance in the Dark) coming out on Nov 23.

how has the album changed? the record label tweeted the above like 5mins ago...??

Posted by: Rated R 7th November 2009, 10:24 PM

I've heard Gaga went nuts at her record label yesterday as they were wanting to charge an expensive amount that she didn't agree with for The Fame Monster.

How is it possible? These cds will be getting shipped out this week.

HMV have cds a week before release.

There is no way 1million albums can be produced and shipped in a week.

Posted by: Nate88 7th November 2009, 10:28 PM

i thought the 'monster' part was going to be available to buy on iTunes as a seperate album and it was going to be the "fame monster" for physical albums. i dont think it would be possible? they would have already produced the albums?

Is 8 tracks an EP?

Gaga said she wrote more than 8 songs for The Fame Monster but didn't want to put them on... She should add those if it's a new album

Posted by: Nate88 7th November 2009, 10:38 PM

wont both chart as "the fame monster" not "the fame" ?

Charge an expensive amount? The HMV website is letting people buy it for £8.99, which I think is a good deal for two discs. But how can she do this...it'll have messed up millions of Christmas lists tongue.gif If you can now get a 1-Disc (with the 8 new tracks), I'm still getting the 2-disc edition as I don't actually have "The Fame"

I honestly think she will be the female MJ.

Madonna gets less relevant and taints her icon status with every album she releases.

To think two years ago she was a no one and now she is the biggest star in the world.

I would love to know what her album sales would have been if we weren't in the download era. She must have sold about 25 million singles by now.

Ok so what I'm hearing is that it did get uploaded to youtube but they were on the ball and removed it.

Who the hell uploads stuff to youtube first?! Ugh.

Anyway it's widely expected to leak in full in the next few hours!

Lady GaGa: 'I wrote song for my dad'

Lady GaGa: 'I wrote song for my dad'

Rex Features

Lady GaGa has revealed that one of the tracks on her new album is a tribute to her father.

The singer said that 'Speechless' was inspired by her love for her dad, according to Angry Ape.

She explained: "'Speechless' was my plea to my father to get this heart operation.

"I sent it to my dad when I was on the road. I said 'Please, Dad' and he still wouldn't do it, and one day he just started not feeling so good so I dropped everything and sat down with him.

"I told him it was not just his heart at stake, it was all our hearts. I told him if he died, I would quit music and mum would not be able to function. And, thankfully, he did it."

Previously, Lady GaGa revealed that she was planning to get a tattoo as a tribute to her dad.

Speechless is f***ing awesome by the preview! <3333333333333

Posted by: A Kath Romance 14th November 2009, 06:23 PM

I wish she'd go and release it just to be different. It sounds so classic, as in Beatles-esque classic and it would be her first ballad single. Would have also made a great Christmas single but I don't want Alejandro not to be a single either psh. Dying to hear Speechless in full now drama.gif

Posted by: DirtySyko 14th November 2009, 06:40 PM

Every song I've heard from TFM so far has been single worthy and potential to be huge hits.

Posted by: RearWindow 14th November 2009, 07:18 PM

Alejandro is unlikely to ever be a single... sob.gif

Teeth doesn't seems to be on the same level as the others.

Ahhh I don't know.. it sounds pretty bouncy to me judging by the 15 sec preview.

I can't believe songs like No Way and Hit Me Back never made the cut either, they were really up to standard but I guess 10 new songs on a re-release would be too much

Just listened to "Hit Me Back" then.. are you absolutely sure that's Gaga?.. because it really doesn't sound like it.. blink.gif

Posted by: A Kath Romance 14th November 2009, 08:25 PM

Yeah it obviously isn't GaGa, it's a demo for her. And with a demo that promising you think she wouldn't let it go to waste unless it's another Eva Simons drama

Only really liking Monster a bit. Not as amazing as the first minute.

Not feeling Speechless or SHICD

Posted by: Nate88 16th November 2009, 12:39 AM

i like the polished Alejandro

for me
1.Bad Romance
2.Dance in the Dark
3.Alejandro
4.Telephone (growing)
5.Monster
6.Speechless
7.Teeth
8.So Happy I Could Die

Posted by: Rain 16th November 2009, 12:40 AM

I'm not as impressed as I thought I'd be. The tracks that leaked are the best (Telephone, Alejandro, Dance In The Dark). Teeth is pretty good, Speehless is alright and Monster sounds like it will be great at the start but then the chorus is weak. Don't like So Happy I Could Die at all.

Posted by: Jonjo 16th November 2009, 01:38 AM

'Speechless' reminds me of 'Again, Again', just not as good sad.gif

10 Bad Romance
7 Alejandro - Not getting the fuss of it tbh.
8 Monster
5 Speechless
10 Dance In The Dark - NEEDS to be next WW single! The video could/will be epic!
9 Telephone
6 So Happy I Could Die
6 Teeth

Overall I'm disappointed. The only good songs are the ones that leaked. (+ 'Monster') 'Dance In the Dark' MUST be released!

Posted by: Pável 16th November 2009, 07:36 AM

Bad Romance 10/10 Really loving it after the video release.
Alejandro 10/10 Although I MUCH prefer the old version.
Monster 9/10 'Ate my heart then ate my brain' or a lyric like that is so hilariously out of rhyme. <3
Speechless 9/10 I see comparisons with Again Again but the difference is that Speechless is EPIC unlike Again Again.
Dance In The Dark 8/10 I didn't like it at first at all but this suddenly grew on me as hell because i realised that the verses are terrific although chorus is a massive letdown.
Telephone 9.5/10 LOVE the fact that Beyoyo is in it. <3
So Happy I Could Die 9.5/10 The underdog of an album i guess.
Teeth 10/10 Love conception and composition. GaGa can turn anything into EPICOMG.

9.375/10

This album is EPIC.

Posted by: RearWindow 16th November 2009, 05:19 PM

Bad Romance 9/10 It's is just amazing, definitely the best choice for the lead single, after listening to the whole album
Alejandro 10/10 Best track on the album, by FAR, improved so much from the leaked demo, which I didn't think was possible
Monster 8/10 Really underrated, but it isn't as strong as Alejandro, BR and DITD. Just love the intro!
Speechless 8.75/10 Another slightly strange track, but it is really good, as ballad was needed for the album, this is perfect. Not too big a fan of Gaga ballads, but this is done really well
Dance In The Dark 9.5/10 This is just really epic. Sounds like Europop, but this is far from cheesy
Telephone 8.5/10 It's really good, but not as strong as some other tracks. Chorus is just great, the track on the whole is not as big as I anticipated. A grower
So Happy I Could Die 8/10 Like 'Monster', this is really underrated by reviews, it is amazing. In my opinion, the chorus might not be strong enough, and the track could have done with a middle 8. However, the whole track is amazing, I fond the chorus is lovely, sort of summer-ish and the 'eh-eh' and 'ye-ha' hook is catchy enough
Teeth 7/10 Wow, it's nothing like she's ever done before, I'm getting a bit of a country vibe. Quite good, wasn't expecting much from the previews

Posted by: The Fame Pavster 16th November 2009, 05:52 PM

I can't stop listening. I hope it doesn't get overplayed by me sad.gif

Posted by: Cremey 16th November 2009, 05:58 PM

I love 'Monster' and 'Teeth' is so wonderfully odd! Not keen on the other two which I hadn't heard before. ('Speechless' and 'So Happy I Could Die')

Posted by: Medicated Soap 16th November 2009, 06:09 PM

There's not a bad track on here. Wow. Really.

She's the only artist who would create a song about bisexual masturbation and make it wonderful.

Guhh the chorus of Monster. Teeth is fierce. So Happy I Could Die is just wonderful. Speechless is the first ballad I've really liked by Gaga.

Posted by: bigzarafan 16th November 2009, 07:16 PM

Very disappointed to say that I'm not really liking "Teeth" sad.gif

"Monster" is my favourite from the 4 new leaks, but "Dance In The Dark" is still probably my favourite on the album.

10 Bad Romance ☭ MY LORD. There is nothing that can be said about this that hasn't already been said. I think I prefer this to Poker Face (the chord progression in the chorus is far better IMO), and it's definitely one of my favourite songs of the year (and it must be noted that I'm nowhere near deciding my favourite of what has been a spectacular year). The video is almost certainly one of the best of the decade in my honest opinion.
10 Alejandro ☭ GAHHH. I adore the Ace of Base-esque synths peppered throughout, along with the underlying ethnic undertones, mixed into what would without these elements just be GaGa-by-numbers. I can't actually get the chorus out of my head.
9.5 Monster ☭ I LOVE IT. It's like Just Dance evolved post-GaGa's triumph, and the lyrics are totally killer. The middle eight is spectacular stuff (with a nice little recognition of the small debt that Monster owes to her debut hit!), but it does seem a little bit like Monster is just an amalgamation of all of GaGa's biggest hits to date...although given that these are some of the best songs of the year, is that even a real criticism?
10 Speechless ☭ OK, let's move past the Again, Again comparisons - whilst retaining the bluesy, cabaret edge of that song, Speechless is far, far more anthemic and really comes off more as a reformation of AA in response to her experiences throughout the year. An archetypal example of how TFM is a slight evolution of the album it was originally supposed to be packaged with.
09 Dance In The Dark ☭ Think Disco Heaven but with a far stronger chorus, and MUCH better production. Whilst I do love this song, I can't help but be put off by the fact that the chorus is *slightly* too high for GaGa (you can hear her straining her vocals just a little bit, and I can't help but feel this would be very patchy performed live). I f***ing live for the Vogue rip-off at the end though. Seriously, can we get this album on in a club or something soon?
10 Telephone ☭ DID SOMEBODY JUST SAY BILLBOARD #1 SMASH? I love the subtle harp in the background of the verses which segues into the clubtastic bridge-chorus, even if the chorus is a bit tackayyy. Plus, I totally love it when Beyonce summons her inner ANGRY BLACK GURL for her verse (see under 'Ring The Alarm, Diva; amazingness of'). GaGa is totally spoilt for choice with choosing the second single, and I might actually have to scream if she goes with Dance In The Dark.
8.5 So Happy I Could Die ☭ This one comes off as a more club-suitable version of 'Eh, Eh', and I wasn't too hot on that one either. However, I DO quite love this one, although it is definitely the 'weak' point of the album (although with an album as fantastic as this there really isn't such a thing...or if there is, it really doesn't matter). The culmination chorus could really have used some improvement, but other than that the production and verses are still amazing.
10 Teeth ☭ OH MY f***ING GOD. Beautiful Dirty Rich was one of my favourites on The Fame, and that is about the closest I can compare this to. So, as an evolution of that...THIS IS FUCKING FANTASTIC. 'Show me ya teeth' is really competing with 'DON'T CALL MY NAME, ALEJANDRO' for the lyric that just REFUSES to leave you alone, and as a constant chant with spoken-word relations to her lover/s interwoven throughout there's no avoiding it. It's like Beautiful Dirty Rich melded with some brass, got rid of the synths and become a Brechtian sexual anthem. AMAZING.

Overall, I would say that it is very very telling that this is a sequel to The Fame - I would probably refer to this as The Fame v1.5, as it clearly takes into account her experiences and musical evolution over the past twelve months, and all of the tracks clearly have strong influences from some of the tracks on that album (some to the point of near self-plagiarism! laugh.gif). All in all I'm very satisfied with what I would say is one of the albums of the year, and I'm very very excited to see where she'll go with her third album!

10 Alejandro
09 Monster
09 Speechless
08 Dance in the Dark
10 Telephone
09 So Happy I Could Die
09 Teeth

Dance in the Dark is the weakest point of the album imo, though people seem to think So Happy I Could Die is. I dunno. I have a thing for songs about masturbation.

WHEN I THINK ABOUT YOU I TOUCH MYSELF

+ that crappy album track from In The Zone.

I'm inclined to agree that Dance In The Dark and So Happy I Could Die are the weak points of the album...but tbh those weak points would be counted as highlights on most other albums so I'm not really complaining.

Dance In The Dark - 7/10

drama.gif Okay, wow, finding some time in between a study break to do a little review:

Alejandro
Prefer this to Bad Romance. It's very Euro. The intro is so grabbing and like amaze, love GaGa's talking voice almost as much as her singing voice. The backing has such an effect on me, my gosh, when she's singing the verses and bridge with that backing I get absolute goosebumps. The chorus is so fun and sing-along-y. This song is the type of the song that almost any other pop star would avoid doing in fear of flopping but being as talented as she is GaGa completely aced it. tongue.gif It would be better off as an album track though, I don't see enough commercial appeal to it in comparison to Monster or Dance In The Dark but probably the best album track since my ultimate favourite GaGa song - I Like It Rough. 10/10

Bad Romance
It sure took a while for most of the forum to catch onto the hype I was making about this song but in the end it seems everyone has. smile.gif Definitely the most bizzare of songs, but that's the GaGa we know and love. The lyrics are f***ing outstanding, I can't begin to explain how much I respect GaGa as an artist. The underlying Women Trafficing theme is so admirable and probably a first in the history of music? She really portrays the image perfectly in both the lyrics and the music video (which IS the video of the century heehee.gif). I prefer the verses to the chorus again in this song though. The new version's chorus is a bit too overwhelming at times for me as well as the new version's bridge and call-response in the last chorus. But that critique only lost it half a mark in my rating. 9.5/10

Dance In The Dark
A personal past experience of GaGa inspired this? sob.gif This song blew me away on first listen. A depression theme with genius lyrics, namely the epic bridge. Prefer the chorus, it's more toned down and simple which is what I usually prefer. It's very 80's/90's dance in the backing which fits perfectly. Also loved how she didn't go all overboard in the final chorus and let the outro and music do the talking. The bass is brilliant as well as the vocoded "d-d" Whenever I rock bottom I'll just dance in the dark, with this song as my light ahh. wub.gif 10/10

Monster
Don't call me a lo0n. The sampling of the Just Dance HCCR Bamboosa Remix in the intro was ace. She sounds very Madonna on this actually in places. Electropop paradise crammed into one monster of a song. The chorus is probably the best out of all the songs. Vocoded responses are soo catchy too. The chorus build-ups are also really strong points and GaGa's backing vocals bring be back to the extraordinary ones of I Like It Rough. The lyrics again, sad, but it seems that's the album's concept bar Telephone and Teeth. I could listen to this all day TBH. Timeless. Epic. Among her best of which I can't even begin to pick a favourite anymore. If there were a 3rd single, this is what it HAS to be.

So I Happy I Could Die
This makes Eh Eh look like a complete demo. It's got like a mysterious eery feel to it. Almost like floating on a cloud lawlz. Very remixable although it's dancey enough and to an extent summery. I can't think of anymore to elaborate on, it's breathtaking. sob.gif 10/10

Speechless
The title explains the reaction. Soo beautiful, catchy, cute. Her best ballad. The ad-libs heart.gif Really showing off her voice. The American cowgirl accent it is so contageous and it really works for her. And the fact everything on the song was done solely by her, the writing, the vocals and the piano definitely ranks her up as one of the most talented pop artists of all time, well for me. I still need to get used to this side of GaGa music, it's not the song I'd skip right to to hear so I guess thats a little critique I can give it and probably one that will fade away too. 9.5/10

Teeth
Broadway pop rock. Is that even a genre lol? Or is GaGa inventing more value for the art of music. OMG I seriously LOL at this out of love for it's randomness. It seems to lack a chorus but the catchline is great enough to make up for that. GaGa you are beyond original, a goddess. FACT. 9.5/10

Telephone
GaGa and Beyoncé, without a doubt the two biggest stars in the world at the moment. GaGa outshines Bey on both this and on Video Phone. The concept is so well constructed in the song and those vocoded parts "stop telephoning me i'm busy" really are the cherry on top of heaven cake. Beyoncé is just so random in the song it feels like a whole new song starts when she comes in but she improves later on. Chorus simple and catchy very up and down in key which makes it that catchy actually and the verse after the first and last chorus. .glory ohmy.gif 10/10

And Speechless is also being performed at the AMAs. Oh my word so looking forward, hopefuly she's even better than she was with Paparazzi at the VMAs.

Posted by: PaulM1983 19th November 2009, 11:21 PM

She's performing Speechless at the AMAs? I didn't know that. sad.gif

It's a nice song etc etc etc, but I was looking forward to a mindblowing performance of Bad Romance. I'm dying to see/hear it live.

Posted by: Slowpoke 19th November 2009, 11:47 PM

Why would she perform 'Speechless'? Stupid. It's not a single, and it's not the next single. And probably won't ever be a single. It's a massive waste of what could be promotion for 'Bad Romance' or 'Telephone'. Disappointed.

I thought someone said she'd confirmed it will be a single in an interview somewhere...?

Well that was all very nice (even though those ballet dancers were horrendously out of time with each other) but I still can't believe she's giving up the chance to get some great promo for Bad Romance. A good performance of it would secure her a number 1 in the states I think.

Is the song maybe proving too tricky to sing live?

Posted by: A Kath Romance 20th November 2009, 05:18 AM

She's not giving it up, she's performing both Bad Romance and Speechless. I doubt it would be too tricky if she's already scheduled performances of it for the AMAs, X Factor and Ellen. .

Posted by: PaulM1983 20th November 2009, 08:24 AM

Ah ok well I misunderstood. I didn't realise she was performing both. Now I'm excited again. Speechless is a nice song, but it doesn't get me excited for it as a single.

I really cannot wait for the X Factor performance.

So, after having this album/half album/whatever for about a week now, my firm favourite is 'Monster'.
Everything about it is brilliant. I especially love the intro and the 'Just Dance' reference (not sure if it's intentional, but I'm guessing it is).

When it's near the end of the song and it's the build up to the last chorus, I always think she's saying 'red bull, red bull, red bull', not 'that boy, that boy, that boy'. After I noticed it the first time I can't get it out of my head. sad.gif

Teeth isn't even on the same league as Speechless, but I do love Teeth <3.

Anyway, after listening to the album non-stop for the last few days, I have come to the conclusion:

Bad Romance > Telephone > Speechless > Dance In The Dark > So Happy I Could Die > Alejandro > Monster > Teeth.

This album really is a pop gem that will go down in history. wub.gif

Posted by: Katheriиe 23rd November 2009, 07:08 PM

I adore So Happy I Could Die. That and Monster would be my favourites off the album. Although it's f***ing hard to rank one track above the other because they're all extremely different from each other and they all have different aspects to them that make them great etc. Monster and So Happy I Could Die would be the perfect 3rd and 4th re-release singles. Don't see the others making as much of an impact as those 2. But with the momentum of all the tracks on iTunes atm, she could likely release anyone of them and they'll still do well.

One says digi pack (confused there) but they both have the same number of tracks on them. 8 new ones plus 16 from The Fame

Ok so reviews have not been as good as I expected so far, but this one is one of the really positive ones:

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/album-lady-gaga-the-fame-monster-polydor-1825787.html

The closing paragraph just sums her up perfectly:

If this is her idea of a stopgap release, we're looking here at a major talent indeed. On the evidence available so far, Lady Gaga isn't flesh and blood like the rest of us. She is made of amazingness.

10 Bad Romance
09 Alejandro
10 Monster
08 Speechless
10 Dance in the Dark
10 Telephone
10 So Happy I Could Die
07 Teeth

Bolded favourites.

A masterpiece. It's like a story, and a bloody good one at that. 'Bad Romance' is the perfect introduction to what is one of the best pop albums EVER. The edgy 'Alejandro' shows a different side to GaGa, but still delivers a breathtaking chorus. 'Monster' is what I'd call "classic", amazing production, lyrics and vocals and a very catchy chorus. As for 'Speechless', it's definitely a weak point, though still a fantastic addition to the album. It wouldn't be right without a slow song and one that is so personal to GaGa fits perfectly. 'Dance in the Dark' is breathtaking, the sing-talk Vogue breakdown is one of the album highlights. 'Telephone' is sure to be a worldwide smash, this era's 'Poker Face' and it's already making waves around the world on 0 airplay. Beyonce makes this song perfect. The more sophisticated sister of 'Eh, Eh', 'So Happy I Could Die' is a dirty mid-tempo track that I cannot get enough of. The chorus is great: lyrically, vocally and production-wise. 'Teeth' is the weakest track on the album and I do tend to skip it. That said, it's not bad at all and it does complete the whole 'Monster' theme. It's very different to what I've ever heard in Pop before so hey, it may be a grower.

5/5

GaGa Elaborates On Concept Of New Album "The Fame Monster"

Lady GaGa has been exorcising her demons on latest album, "The Fame Monster." Namely her fear of death. As well as her fear of relationships, which she address on the song "Monster".

"It's the fear of attachment and fear of loving something that's bad for you," she told MTV News about the track. "If you listen to the lyrics, it's like being in love with the bad boy all the time, and you keep going back for more."

In "Monster," GaGa says she needs a stable relationship. "I keep falling in love with the monster," she said. "But what I really need is security and the safety and the womanhood, responsibility of my femininty. And so that's what the song is about."

She recently told MTV News that her music and performances are on extension of her belief that as an artist, she lives her private life in the public world. "To me, being an artist is being public," she explained. "So I'm being private in public every night, and all my monsters and my fears went leaping out of me and I just began to write."

At the release party of "The Fame Monster," she told E! News that the record is all about her phobias.

"Fear of alcohol, fear on sex monster, fear of love monster, fear of myself monster," she explained.

The pop star then went onto confirm the background of her second single, "Telephone."

"I wrote it for Britney Spears a long time ago, and she just didn't use it on her album. And it's fine because I love the song, and it's exciting that I get to perform it now."

Her album, "The Fame Monster" which topping most iTunes album charts at the moment has recently been nominated for album of the year by Billboard Magazine. You can vote for GaGa to win the award by following http://this link.

Yeah but she will have to sell quite a lot the next few weeks if she wants to be #1 in both, because x factor singles will skyrocket up the EOY singles chart and IGF (BEPs) is still storming up tbh, there's more competition for Poker Face than you think.

As for the albums, KOL shouldn't be a problem to overtake, it's just Susan Boyle we need to be on the lookout for.

To be brutally honest, I simply can't rank GaGa's songs. They all have a different effect on me and I love each one of them in different ways and at different times. Like for example when I listen to Bad Romance I'd think OMG best song ever, and then if I listen to Monster or whatever straight afterward I think the exact same thing etc. Her music as a whole is total perfection, I find it so bizzare how people can rank songs in the blink of an eye or decide which GaGa song is better than the other because I'm literally incapable of doing that. The only way I think I can rank them is by looking at their total plays on ipod but off the top of my head there is just no way. drama.gif

Song still hasn't clicked with me at all.

That performance was goosebumpful, ah! wub.gif Her voice is so perfect live, she's a brilliant singer and people seem to ignore or forget that. She really has a great voice but I'm not liking the outfit a bit too OTT and it makes her look ugly. Speechless is gorgeous and GaGa wrote, composed and produced it I actually woudn't mind it being single now, I think she has to show this side of her more otherwise people will get bored of the constant dancey stuff she releases

About.com Reviews ‘The Fame Monster’

Lady GaGa was exactly right to convince her label Interscope to focus on the eight new songs of The Fame Monster and not just toss them off as add-ons for a re-issue of her debut album The Fame. The new songs make a cohesive work of pop art on their own. The Lady Gaga aesthetic here combines the catchiness of the best in pop songs with pure, exposed emotion of some of the most enduring dance music classics. It’s a no holds barred musical journey into the demons and monsters that haunt Lady Gaga’s psyche.

Resonant Concept Played Out Through Incredibly Catchy Pop and Dance Songs

On The Fame Monster Lady Gaga moves past songs about getting drunk in the club or simply celebrating rough sex. Here she takes on her own personal monsters whether it’s the artifice of appearance on “Dance In the Dark” or the incessant desire for “Bad Romance.” Most listeners are likely to find a number of their own emotional issues and concerns somewhere in this suite of eight songs. However, nowhere does Lady Gaga forget the importance of pop songs being catchy and memorable. It’s possible to simply revel in the beautiful wistful musical atmosphere of “So Happy I Could Die” and ignore the thoughtful meditation on caring for oneself physically and mentally when things are going awry.

More Hit Singles On the Way

There seems no doubt the hit singles will continue to flow for Lady Gaga beyond “Bad Romance.” At least half the songs here would sound great on pop radio. “Alejandro” is a bit like Madonna’s classic “La Isla Bonita” with a contemporary edge. “Monster” with the “He ate my heart” catch line is pure electronic dance pop heaven in sound. The Beyonce assisted “Telephone” is a club stomper that will draw in R&B and Hip Hop fans as well on the radio. 2009 may have been the year of Lady Gaga with five top 10 pop hits, four of them radio #1’s, but 2010 should continue that momentum.
Top Tracks on ‘The Fame Monster’

* “Bad Romance”
* “Monster”
* “Telephone”
* “So Happy I Could Die”

Lady Gaga Proves Herself a Compelling, Evolving Artist

There is nothing about The Fame Monster that sounds like Lady Gaga is interested in making The Fame part 2. Less than a year after “Just Dance” first topped the charts, she has dropped a set of songs that are a major stride forward in maturity. The conceptual approach here often seems reserved for rock and alternative albums. The Fame Monster is the most compelling pop concept piece in recent memory. There are clear signs of influence from some of the top pop women of the past including Madonna, Annie Lennox and Debbie Harry, but Lady Gaga makes it emphatically her own. If this is the direction of contemporary pop, we are in good hands indeed.

Amazing vocal but awful outfit.

Fantastic performance, she's so talented. wub.gif

TFM has dropped to #7 in the mids though, deserves much higher. sad.gif

Posted by: † Katherine † 27th November 2009, 04:59 PM

GaGa isn't one of those high debut artists though, she takes her time in peaking and getting to #1 etc so I wouldn't be too bothered with #7 so early. At least it's contributing to the original album's sales and not as an album on its own.

Posted by: SugaRush 27th November 2009, 05:00 PM

I guess you're right. smile.gif

I hope TF/M will get #1 in the end of year charts, beating SuBo and KOL.

Posted by: † Katherine † 27th November 2009, 06:03 PM

Well, logically it will. GaGa is going to gain hugely on KOL with TFM and SuBo has loads of catching up to do and I don't think she'll be able to catch up by that much in a month. But it is pretty unpredictable. unsure.gif #1 YE single and album would be so huge for GaGa I'd be so thrilled if she pulls it off.

The eyes are off putting and the final part doesn't seem to finish at a point which is rather strange. On the whole memerable for a great vocal performance.

I liked her performance of Bad Romance on Ellen aswell happy.gif.

Posted by: Tyler 28th November 2009, 07:03 AM

I hope she has come with an agreement with her record label, she will just perform Speechless a couple of times, and not release it as a single. It's an AMAZING song, just not as amazing as some of the other songs on the album!

(Alejandro and Monster for the third and fourth singles please!)

PS - The was an ASTOUNDING performance!

Posted by: Mons†er 28th November 2009, 08:46 AM

I just hope that she performs Bad Romance on X Factor, otherwise it won't get to #1.

It has been confirmed she's performing Bad Romance on X Factor. I think she'll grab #1 straight after the performance, without any problems.

Thank you. happy.gif Yip I know, it's spelt wrong to tie in with her Alejandro/French accents and just to be a bit different.

not one track off the album I don't like. still, my verdict, in order of favourites.

01 - alejandro - 10/10 has to be the best. loved it from first lidten yet it's still a grower. suits any mood really.
02 - bad romance - 10/10 well it was a brilliant choice for first single. so catchy.
03 - teeth - 10/10 once again, so catchy. lyrics are um... nice.
04 - dance in the dark - 9/10 this too is amazing.
05 - monster - 9/10 brilliant.
06 - telephone - 9/10 brilliant collaboration. love it loads.
07 - so happy I could die - 8/10 this is also quite good.
08 - speechless - 8/10 not so good with the ballads but this is probably her best out of all the ballads she's done.

If the sales add on to The Fame then GaGa shouldn't have a problam overtaking KOL.. SuMo is the main threat now.

Wow that's huge sales omg so thrilled. The Fame & The Fame Monster are being counted as one, so that means this week was a 55-7 climb and not a re/new entry, and it also takes the album sales all the way up to 850k dancing.gif which proves she's both an albums and singles artist and she's breathing down KOL's backs for that #1! Telephone debuting only at #30 after being #17 (?) at one stage on iTunes. Dying to see how many of the album tracks made the top 75. .!

Posted by: SugaRush 29th November 2009, 06:36 PM

I'm thinking Monster and Alejandro will definitley make top 75 and So Happy I Could Die could probably just scrape it.

Top 100 though, that's a different story.

The Fame Monster top 75

Bad Romance #5
Telephone #30
Monster #68
Alejandro #75
So Happy I Could Die #84
Dance In the Dark #89
Speechless #106
Teeth #107

Credit to Theo for positions beyond the top 75.

Really surprised. Alejandro just made it.

Posted by: SugaRush 29th November 2009, 07:21 PM

They all did extremely well imo. 6 album tracks in the top 100 is very good. Shame Teeth & Speechless missed by 6 - 7 places.

I wonder how much they sold.. :unsre:

Hopefuly she releases Monster and Alejandro then just to have a tidyer chart history ala Leona Lewis. Paparazzi also re-entry so happy it could get to 30 weeks and Poker Face now 46 weeks which moves it up a place or two in the longest chart sitting singles. Superb week for her, ah! cheer.gif

89 Dance In The Dark 2698
106 Speechless 2318
107 Teeth 2271
7 The Fame 61893 (To Date: 870,839)

cheer.gif 870k is a lot higher than I expected! Paparazzi must've sold about 4k, Poker Face 3k, LoveGame and Just Dance 1.5-2k. Also 10k is pretty huge for a #30 likewise with 46k for a #5 ;o

Susan Boyle's album is just a bunch of covers, she's a talented singer but that's just about it, she has no originality at all. Susan Boyle could put coffee to sleep. sleep.gif

imo, GaGa deserves it way more.

Posted by: seejayjee 30th November 2009, 05:59 PM

Agreed with that. GaGa didn't need a talent contest to kick start her either.

Posted by: † Katherine † 30th November 2009, 07:08 PM

Susan has the most unpleasant grating voice I've heard in ages, she has no star quality or writing/composing talent. She's just got luck, as people said, with the talent show. GaGa worked her ass off all on her own to the top, she is definitely more deserving than Susan. And if Susan ends with album of the year I will be pissed, the least she could do is take a bit more pride in her looks LOL.

Posted by: The Fame Pavster 30th November 2009, 07:53 PM

I'm not saying GaGa doesn't deserve success, but Susan is so adorable. heart.gif And how exactly do you know Boyle didn't work very hard as well?!

Posted by: Jack 30th November 2009, 10:44 PM

Well her album is full of covers when Lady GaGa wrote the majority of hers. tongue.gif It's not exactly hard work having to put your voice to already well known songs now is it?

Posted by: DanielMiles17 1st December 2009, 03:41 PM

Well I think GaGa deserves album of the year, but I can understand the support for SuBo- I can't help but feel happy for her and want her to succeed while my nan (who doesn't really buy albums anymore) likes her voice and would like to listen to her whole album to see how good her voice really is is so I'm buying her the album for christmas- but I'm also buying The Fame Monster for myself so it balances it out tongue.gif

But bringing it back to the songs, I just love each one to pieces. It's easily one of the strongest re-releases of an album ever I think. It brings a good album in The Fame and makes it outstanding and you can see the growth of Lady GaGa an artist- from her songs all the way up to the album's cover design. Everything is an improvement and the album has clearly evolved with The Fame Monster, where most re-releases just feel tacked on to bump sales.

I would rank them in this order

01 - Alejandro - 10/10 One of the best songs of 2009, but I've had it on repeat for the last week so I think another song will replace this at the top.
02 - Bad Romance - 10/10 I've played it so many times that i've loved it, tired off it and re-loved it again about three time already!
03- Speechless - 10/10 Dark and I think one of the more subtly (if that even applies to GaGa) gripping songs she's made. A real grower.
04 - Teeth - 10/10- So different, epic and insanely catchy and demented.
05- Telephone - 9/10- Very catchy but the hook feels a bit samey to some of her previous hits.
06 - So Happy I Could Die - 9/10- Slap bang in the middle for me- really catchy and more instant then the bottom two on my list, but not as catchy as the strong top
5.
07 - Monster - 9/10- Not as instant as the others, but still great. Will grow on me I'm sure.
08 - Dance in the Dark 8/10- The least instant song for me, but Speechless went from being the bottom of the pile for me to thrid best track, so I'll see if this is bottom when I've heard it a few more times.

Posted by: Jamieed 1st December 2009, 06:47 PM

Currently:

Bad Romance 10/10
Alejandro 7/10
Speechless 8.5/10

Monster 8.5/10
Dancing in The Dark 7.5/10
So Happy I Could Die 6.5/10

It isn't The Fame Monster seperately though it counts as a deluxe version to The Fame in the UK so its peak is still actuallly #1 with sales etc being combined as well. Its peaked at #5 seperately in the US, just one position below The Fame's peak of #4 which is quite outstanding for an EP especially with so many big releases in its release week.

Got this for Christmas, my it's amazing! ohmy.gif My favourite (non-singles) would have to be 'Monster' and 'So Happy I Could Die'. wub.gif My current least favourite is 'Teeth'. Anyway, this is how I think the singles will go:
1. 'Bad Romance'
2. 'Telephone'
3. 'Speechless'
4. 'Monster'

I think I've overplayed 'So Happy I Could Die'. It was my fave, but yeah, I got a bit bored of it now.

I think (not want) the singles will go like this:

2 - Telephone (has been semi-confirmed by a Haus member)
3 - Dance In the Dark (has been semi-confirmed by a Haus member)
4 - Speechless

She said she 'will release four or more singles from The Fame Monster', so if there are more than four:

5 - Alejandro
6 - Monster/Teeth (It has been getting airplay from U.S. radio)

Telephone was fully confirmed ages ago.

I reckon Speechless will be released after Telephone tbh. I didn't like it at first, but now find myself singing along to it all the time. I sometimes wake up singing it as well, which is just weird, but whatever. Seems like the natural move after two relatively up tempo songs. Can't see her releasing more than one single after that though myself... if she does though I guess maybe Alejandro? Very different to anything else she's released and Dance in the Dark has already been released in a few places hasn't it? unsure.gif

I think 'Alejandro' and 'Dance In The Dark' were both confirmed that they won't be singles, quite some time before the album, as they were meant to be "Countdown to 'The Fame Monster'" singles on iTunes, before they messed it up. Anyway, I think 'Speechless' will be third and 'Monster' will be fourth/last.

'Dance In the Dark' has been said to be the 3rd single by a Haus member. Also I hope 'Alejandro' is a single, it is #2 in the album tracklisting for a reason.

MONSTER TO BE RELEASED.

Posted by: bigzarafan 2nd January 2010, 09:10 PM

I like "Speechless", but she probably won't release more than 4, and since "Telephone" is confirmed, I think it would be better to have "Alejandro" & "Dance In The Dark".

I really hope that after Telephone that she releases Monster, my favourite track on the Fame Monster (Speechless would be an AWFUL single choice...radio wudnt touch it!!). Tbh i hope that there are only 3 singles from The Fame Monster and that she goes away for a bit b4 coming back with a new album next Christmas. Shes been EVERYWHERE for a whole year now and i dont want her to be overexposed!

I was just adding up sales with some weeks as an estimate and fame monster has in or around sold 708,376 since its release 11 weeks ago, that does not count this week sales, and im not counting sales of the original release the fame.

wow has anyone seen the new fame monster advert? it's so good! plus it finishes with telephone so hopefully that'll help it in the charts a bit cos it'll stick in peoples minds smile.gif

I've always wondered - is 'The Fame Monster' officially classed as Gaga's second album, or is it just an extension of the 1st? huh.gif
Will her next album be classed as her 3rd or 2nd?!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th February 2010, 04:07 PM

Im slightly mixed up about this aswell, as going by chart records lady gaga has only one uk charting album not 2, i keep a record of the charts and i have listed it as a differnet album and i have watched sales seperatly of the fame monster to the fame.

I think her next album will be marketed as her second because The Fame and The Fame Monster are so tied together and it was originally a re-release. Isn't it only the US where they have charted separately?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th February 2010, 07:07 PM

The fame monster offically number 1 in the uk this week now.

Posted by: Paulo 28th February 2010, 09:44 PM
