ITV have announced that massive international format The Masked Singer will come to the UK next year!

The show will pit 12 celebrities against each other over eight consecutive nights, as the public - and the show's judges - try to guess the singers' secret identities.

I've seen lots of clips from the international versions and it's very strange tongue.gif I'm looking forward to it.

This would be greatest thing ever if ITV managed to get (by British TV standards) major A-Listers to take part - the fact it'll be over 8 days gives me hope they'll find enough stars to take the time to partake. However, knowing ITV, we'll probably end up with Louis Spence and her from Made in Chelsea.

Ooh, looking forward to this, I know ITV was bidding for it.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jul 25 2019, 07:37 AM

Joel Dommett will be hosting!

Ooh YES great choice (not just for being hot as balls x)!!

Filming next month!

Shame it won't be live, but there we go.

Posted by: Brett-Butler Aug 8 2019, 07:23 PM

A bit surprising that - if it's filmed in advance the chances of the contestant's identities being leaked is very high, which could spoil the fun of the concept. It's a pity they couldn't put this out live, but I guess it was easier for them this way. Now to hope that this means that they can get A-List (by ITV's standards) celebrities for this, or will they stick with the Gemma Collinses of this world.

Bother's Bar (gameshow blog) reckons "it’s unlikely the audience will be around for the unveilings, although it does mean they’d have to be pretty careful in referencing past contestants in any host-led intros."

the US version was pre-recorded + they did a pretty good job of keeping it a secret, i think it’ll be fine

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Sep 8 2019, 10:28 AM

The judges are being reported by The Sun as being Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Ken Jeong (American comedian/actor, Ben in Community) with a fourth yet to be confirmed.

omg not ken jeong?! cry.gif he’s the worst on the us version.

I haven't seen the US version but I'm sure I'd rather have him than Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke.

The Australian version having Lindsay Lohan is ICONIC

final judge confirmed as Davina McCall!

Posted by: Liаm Sep 8 2019, 11:08 PM

LOVE Davina, I think that balances out the horror of Jonathan Ross and my random dislike of Rita, especially as Joel is hot as f*** so adds so points too kink.gif

It's an interesting format anyway, it's fun to watch and guess along and see who's who, providing there's no spoilers leaked but I'll try not to look as a huge part of the fun is trying to guess who's who, it compels you to keep watching to get more clues, hear more and see who's going to be revealed!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 9 2019, 04:31 PM

How’s it decided in terms of like a winner or who’s been eliminated?

Is it like how BGT The Champions series is decided via a vote from the audience.

yep, it’s all audience voted.

Posted by: kye Sep 11 2019, 10:57 AM

the more i think about this, the more i think ken jeong is a bad decision.

this won’t get a-list types taking part - how is he going to guess who the celebrities are? we’re going to get mary from corrie + ken is not going have the slightest clue who she is.

it’s kind of the same with lindsay lohan in australia. it’ll be whatshisface from neighbours and she’ll have to act all surprised!

Posted by: Liаm Sep 11 2019, 12:12 PM

Yeah I thought that, the clues help you guess even if you won't know the voice because they aren't singers, and that's part of the fun, but if they give a clue about say a memorable moment from a Love Island contestant or a storyline from Hollyoaks, how is Ken gonna know? laugh.gif

My other worry is spoilers, I get that it's much more convenient to film ahead of time and with an audience vote, it doesn't have to be live, but a few of the Australian contestants seem to have already leaked and with how say BGT Champions went I assume it's gonna go the same for the UK one.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Sep 12 2019, 08:13 PM

This is what Ken Jeong has said in the press release - I'm sure he wouldn't be there if there was absolutely no one he would recognise:

QUOTE
As the smartest judge on the US Masked Singer, it is truly an honour and privilege to take my talents to the UK!

As everyone knows, I am extremely knowledgeable about UK culture, and I can’t wait to see my favourite British singers dressed in beautiful costumes based on their native kangaroos and dingos.

Posted by: kye Sep 12 2019, 09:18 PM

he won’t even know who his fellow judges are never mind who the contestants are laugh.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Sep 12 2019, 11:56 PM

Donny Osmond will be a guest judge on one episode, according to a TV ticket website

Posted by: Spiceboy Sep 15 2019, 04:43 PM

Oh god not Rita Ora think I’ll be giving this a miss I can’t stand her!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Oct 3 2019, 05:57 PM

Sharon & Kelly Osbourne have also been confirmed as guest judges for 1 episode

Posted by: kye Nov 17 2019, 10:09 PM

they seem to be teasing this on itv tonight during i’m a celeb!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 22 2019, 07:28 PM

Industry person on a forum has said the "occupation" (but not name) of a contestant, and if it's true it's quite a big signing for this sort of show!

(big spoiler obvs)

Apparently there is a member of One Direction, my guess would be Louis

Posted by: WhoChristmasssy Dec 5 2019, 03:40 PM

First trailer! I am loving those costumes laugh.gif

Posted by: Brett-Butler Dec 5 2019, 09:52 PM

There's some really great, well designed costumes in there, like the Daisy and the Mirrorball Chameleon, as well as some...less than good ones. Really feel sorry for the person who got the Yellow Duck.

I've started to see a few rumours of who's taken part. One I've seen, and would be amazed if this was true, is one member of One Director signed up for it. If so, then my worry about only having C-Listers has been mitigated

Posted by: WhoChristmasssy Dec 12 2019, 04:31 PM

Confirmed to start on January 4th at 7pm!

Posted by: Liаm Jan 2 2020, 05:15 PM

Really excited for this, feel like it could go either way but it'll be nice to have something fun on TV on a Saturday night!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 3 2020, 11:34 PM

Not long to go now! I'm very interested to see how it does

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 4 2020, 01:21 AM

I’m definitely excited for this.

I have a feeling I’ll instantly be able to tell maybe three of them? Likely the ones who are actually musicians I think I’ll be able to guess.

How do the eliminations work?

Posted by: Lukuzz Jan 4 2020, 09:49 AM

Can't wait for this, love the US version so hopefully it's as good

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 4 2020, 11:35 AM

An audience member over at gameshow blog Bothers' Bar had this to say about the filming which is very interesting

QUOTE
I was in the audience for the third episode back in September.

Only about 20-30 audience members were kept in the studio for the reveal but producers had pre-selected them and taken lots more details from them (social channels, etc) presumably to narrow down who could of spoilt the surprise if names did get leaked!
Other than the small audience, the panel, Joel and a very limited amount of crew (a camera man, sound guy, etc) were allowed to stay in the studio for the reveal.

Overall I enjoyed the show, albeit the singers weren’t that good at singing in my opinion, other than one. I hope the show mirrors the success of the versions elsewhere in the world.

Posted by: RobBob Jan 4 2020, 12:06 PM

Interesting approach! I'm definitely gonna get this on Catch Up later, think it's such a fun concept that doesn't take itself at all seriously.

Posted by: Liаm Jan 4 2020, 07:11 PM

Queen Bee is surely Nicola Roberts??

Posted by: Nick Jonas Jan 4 2020, 07:12 PM

Enjoying it so far. I’m going for Zara Phillips 😂

Posted by: Liаm Jan 4 2020, 07:27 PM

Duck I'm gonna say Kelly Holmes?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 4 2020, 07:37 PM

I'm thinking John Barrowman for unicorn!

Posted by: Cameron Jan 4 2020, 07:37 PM

Adam Lambert or John Barrowman ?

Posted by: legendsglory Jan 4 2020, 07:37 PM

Unicorn could be John Barrowman maybe??

Definitely John Barrowman biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jester Jan 4 2020, 07:39 PM

I think John Barrowman as well!

Posted by: Liаm Jan 4 2020, 07:40 PM

John Barrowman for sure!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 4 2020, 07:41 PM

Wasn't JC in the audience of X Factor Celebrity?

Posted by: Cameron Jan 4 2020, 07:45 PM

Patsy Palmer

Posted by: Liаm Jan 4 2020, 07:46 PM

Patsy Palmer deffo

Posted by: Wall Jan 4 2020, 07:47 PM

Omg this is actual so confusing, I don’t know anyone.

Nicola Roberts defo seems to be the first one

Posted by: Cameron Jan 4 2020, 07:48 PM

Ken really has no place on this, he has 0 idea

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 4 2020, 07:49 PM

I actually thought Charlotte Church was the Bee

But John Barrowman as Unicorn and Pasty Palmer as Butterfly are both what I thought.

Posted by: Wall Jan 4 2020, 07:49 PM

They really need to stop with after the break omg

Posted by: FezVez Jan 4 2020, 07:51 PM

I hear this!

Posted by: Nick Jonas Jan 4 2020, 07:51 PM

That was a tough one but Patsy Palmer seems about right.

Posted by: Liаm Jan 4 2020, 08:04 PM

I think the Chameleon might be Alexander Armstrong? The voice under the distortion sounds like him and he's surprisingly fit I feel like

Posted by: Oliver Jan 4 2020, 08:10 PM

Michael McIntyre or Jack Whitehall I think for Hedgehog!

Posted by: Liаm Jan 4 2020, 08:11 PM

Michael McIntyre for sure!

Posted by: Jester Jan 4 2020, 08:14 PM

You’re on fire with these I think Liam!

Posted by: FezVez Jan 4 2020, 08:26 PM

So is there never a public vote in this?

QUOTE(FezVez @ Jan 4 2020, 08:26 PM) *
So is there never a public vote in this?

Nope, it's all already been filmed

Posted by: Brett-Butler Jan 4 2020, 08:52 PM

Patsy Palmer is definitely the level of celebrity that I would expect on this show. I actually thought Hedgehog might be Rev Richard Coles, after he said he was "holy", and his phraseology sounds exactly like him, even with the distortion.

Posted by: Jonjo Jan 5 2020, 02:40 AM

This was SO much fun! I enjoyed trying to guess who was who. If Queen Bee isn't Nicola Roberts then IDK what to do with my life lmao. Her, Patsy and John are the only ones I'm confident with. Hedgehog is the only one I don't have an answer for, but reading the thoughts here, I think Michael McIntyre is an extremely solid shout! I think my guesses line up with Kye's guesses (on Twitter).

I think Will Mellor is Chameleon. I said Paula Radcliffe for Duck, but then she started singing and sounded black (due to the raspiness) so I thought Kelly Holmes, but then the extra clue brought me back to Paula, but I'm still not convinced it's her. I think Kelly is most likely.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 5 2020, 10:06 AM

This got 5.5m - with 6.5m for the reveal, compared with 3.2m for The Greatest Dancer.

So a very good start!

Posted by: Klaus Jan 5 2020, 10:36 AM

oop bet Simon Cowell is fuming on all accounts laugh.gif

I can't see Queen Bee being Nicola, I don't think her voice has that power behind it? I definitely understand where people are coming from with the tone though (even though I think it was more of a 'soft' version of her voice).

I like how everyone's clues were mysterious and then Duck just goes yeah im a long distance runner

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 5 2020, 10:56 AM

Interview following the reveal with Patsy Palmer:

Posted by: Herbs Jan 5 2020, 10:57 AM

Queen Bee must be Nicola. There was a section that sounded almost identical to a section of Sticks and Stones from her album

Posted by: Liаm Jan 5 2020, 11:37 AM

It was really fun, glad the ratings started solidly - hopefully they continue!

Posted by: PaulM1983 Jan 5 2020, 01:45 PM

Enjoyed this, as expected. So it's 100% Nicola for the Bee. Her voice is unmistakable and even through the distortion you could hear the accent. But her singing voice is so distinct, it just is her.

Also, someone on Twitter picked up the clue about being called a wildcard - Nicola was apparently brought back as a wildcard on Popstars.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 5 2020, 01:58 PM

The Bee definitely gave the best performance.

I can hear Nicola but my first thought was Charlotte Church who I can also hear. That’s the reveal I’m most hyped for but I hope whoever it is goes far because they sounded so so good last night.

See with Nicola I never knew her voice had that much power. I always liked her tone though.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 5 2020, 02:09 PM

Reminder that episode 2 is on tonight at 8pm - and from next week it's just on Saturdays.

Posted by: Wall Jan 5 2020, 04:28 PM

Yeh I think it’s Nicola but at the same time she can’t deliver a chorus that powerful

Posted by: Oliver Jan 5 2020, 04:32 PM

100% Nicola.

Posted by: Connor. Jan 5 2020, 08:12 PM

I’m sure the monster is Cee-Lo Green. Sounds like him and I’m sure he mentioned Tony Hadley in a interview somewhere before.

Posted by: Jack Jan 5 2020, 08:13 PM

Yeah he mentioned it at the X Factor apparently! I think 100% Cee-Lo

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 5 2020, 08:15 PM

Cee Lo is the first one I’ve instantly said the name of who i thought it was by literally one line of the song. His voice is that distinctive for me I’d recognise it anywhere laugh.gif

Posted by: Connor. Jan 5 2020, 08:18 PM

Weirdly, I thought the one who sang the Little Mermaid song sounded exactly like the actual singer... could it really be Jodi Benson 😂😂😂

Posted by: M4NGO Jan 5 2020, 11:09 PM

I was in the audience for the recording of Episode 3 back in September (I think someone else on here mentioned that they were too). It was a great experience for a completely bonkers show but so frustrating that we didn't get to see the reveal, though I guess that makes it more exciting watching the show now! Queen Bee is amazing, I was originally thinking Myleene Klass when I was at the recording but I've since changed my thinking to Nicola Roberts.

Posted by: Klaus Jan 5 2020, 11:13 PM

omg Kelis is the only one I definitely know! I love how random it is that she’s on this show laugh.gif

I was hopeless at the others though. I thought Cee Lo but I think it might actually be someone a bit older, I just can’t think the right person!

Tree will be someone like Wayne Bridge or something. Definitely that age range and has done some form of reality TV before.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 5 2020, 11:19 PM

Kelis getting that UK resurgence after this.

It’s definitely her as the daisy. I instantly know her voice but I was like OMG she’s literally on this laugh.gif

Octopus is puzzling me the most from tonight’s. Like I have no clue. Twitter seem to think Ashley Roberts but I just don’t think Ashley can sing that well!

Posted by: Oliver Jan 6 2020, 10:37 AM

Even if her voice wasn’t already distinctive, one of the clues was that her name was from the same seed she grew from; Kelis’ name is a portmanteau of her parents names!

Posted by: shadow2009 Jan 6 2020, 02:04 PM

I caught a bit of this and it sums up everything I hate about these sort of shows. So overly dramatic, drawn out, too many adverts, random 'judges' (the guy from Hangover and Community? Jonathan Ross?? Davina McCall??) and the usual manipulation and games by producers ('have the judges guess as many random, incorrect names as possible to build suspense!") and then the constant zooming in and cutting away on their - OTT - reactions as the masked singer takes the mask off.

Complete trash.

Posted by: Dexton Jan 6 2020, 02:27 PM

Tbf Ken is more well known in the US and started as a judge there, he’s obviously been adopting in the UK as a judge purely because he’s a Masked Singer judge. Like Cheryl Cole being an X Factor US judge despite being a nobody

so you went into it knowing it was a show you were going to hate and you.. hate it?

go figure.

Posted by: Liаm Jan 6 2020, 07:13 PM

I thought this was brilliant, it's so refreshing and the fact that you have to guess along is really fun too it's not the same as say X Factor or The Voice where they take themselves way too seriously because there might be a record contract or whatever, it's silly but that's just really refreshing. As much as I loved getting right into the hot competition of peak X Factor where it really meant something, I think the entertainment factor of this is so much more than XF has had in YEARS or The Voice has ever had.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 6 2020, 07:45 PM

A big reason why I think it’s done well in ratings is because of the fun and mystery of it mixed with the fact that some of the people can actually sing but it’s not like a serious competition where everyone’s going on about how this is all they’ve ever wanted and the thought of going back to their normal job is the worst thing in the world etc laugh.gif

I like it. I liked the US one though too. Rumer Willis was a huge stand out on that one for me.

Posted by: hermespice Jan 6 2020, 07:50 PM

Maybe she’s a bit too big for the show?!?! But I think the octopus is Lea Michele from Glee.

Didn’t think of Nicola Roberts as the queen bee. But now that everyone is saying I’m starting to think it could be

The only two I had a guess during the show was Cee Ló green as the Monster, and Kelis as Daisy.
The rest I have no idea.

Posted by: Liаm Jan 6 2020, 08:03 PM

I think Ashley Roberts could be Octopus, she's got a good musical theatre voice and she does weight training I believe, I'm sure I read that and it rang a bell when she said the clue.

Denise Van Outwn as Fox sounds right, Daisy definitely Kelis and Monster I think could be Cee-Lo as well, the speaking voice sounds about right too.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 6 2020, 08:17 PM

Lea Michele is an interesting guess. If it is her I think I’ll be able to tell more when she does a non theatre song.

Posted by: Klaus Jan 6 2020, 08:27 PM

Octopus seemed to be very excited to have the opportunity to do this, possibly someone who has been out the limelight for a bit?

Posted by: Jonjo Jan 6 2020, 09:44 PM

This lost a fifth of it's audience yesterday. It got 4.3m viewers, which is down 22%. BUT it was up against Call The Midwife (7m) & 'The Trial Of Christine Keeler' (4.4m) (where I assume that those who were watching CTM just couldn't be bothered to change the channel or didn't wanna watch TMS half way through or something).

However, it's the hit ITV needed. It's 20.67% share of the total UK audience was well up on the 17.54% that ITV usually get on a Sunday night!

I predict that the ratings will be about 6m next week on the Saturday and ITV are going to be owning Saturday nights once again very soon (I think I read here that there's no Sunday show from next week?)

Posted by: Mark. Jan 6 2020, 11:01 PM

I thought this was brilliant too, really enjoyed it, trying to guess who they are.
I think the unicorn is definately John Barrowman, monster cee lo green
and the fox going by the eastender clue i thought Danniella Westbrook actually
although i've seen people on Twitter think it's Denise Van Outen so could be her
Seen i few other tweets saying it was Danniella too maybe her or Denise

https://www.adweek.com/tv-video/fox-orders-masked-singer-spinoff-the-masked-dancer-produced-by-ellen-degeneres/

In the US they've ordered a spin off 'The Masked Dancer' - which I really don't see what the appeal for this would be. It could literally be anyone in the costumes!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 9 2020, 03:18 PM

Ken had to miss some filming, so Donny Osmond is filling in for the next two episodes, he actually appeared on the US version last year:

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 11 2020, 10:43 AM

Episode 3 is on tonight at 7pm.

Posted by: Slick Jan 11 2020, 11:51 AM

I LOVE THIS. I didn't expect to like it, but it really surprised me. It's light-hearted, silly and doesn't take itself seriously. I want to know who everyone is literally seconds after they walk on!!

Posted by: Liаm Jan 11 2020, 02:36 PM

Apparently they're in talks for a "Eurovision style" worldwide thing where every country sends one celebrity in a mask and we can all vote. That sounds fun but I hope they don't overkill and saturate the format, what with the dancer one too, so people get fed up of it.

Honestly I think that would be pretty dull not knowing who 95% of the other countries' contestants are tongue.gif

And I don't expect they'll launch The Masked Dancer over here tbh

Posted by: Wall Jan 11 2020, 07:09 PM

Yeh defo John Barrowman

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 11 2020, 07:10 PM

I’m saying Jake Shears

Posted by: Liаm Jan 11 2020, 07:11 PM

I think it might be Jake Shears actually, that's a good shout! The small island clue doesn't fit John, Jake Shears comes from San Juan Island.

Posted by: Wall Jan 11 2020, 07:20 PM

Is there only five celebs?

I thought there was a lot more somehow

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 11 2020, 07:21 PM

Definitely Nicola Roberts

Posted by: Liаm Jan 11 2020, 07:23 PM

100%, you can tell from her voice but also the clues! Beat Of My Drum wink.gif Also the philanthropist part, she does anti-bullying work and didn't she get legislation passed about young people using sunbeds?

Posted by: Wall Jan 11 2020, 07:24 PM

Lmaooooooo!!!!

Nicola will be fuming!!! Nadine has better vocals

Queen Bee - Charlotte Church?

She’s been quite an activist over the years

There is 10 left. 5 this week and the other 5 next week

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 11 2020, 07:33 PM

OK Nicola is the Bee.

I was half and half over her and Charlotte Church but tonight’s performance I heard so much of Nicola in it. And then the drum in the VT yeah I’m pretty much sold it’s her. I’m stunned now at the power she has! Last weeks performance when she sang Sia really threw me but with this performance being softer it had more typical mannerisms to Nicola.

And John Barrowman is so the unicorn. The customer itself gives away its someone Scottish with that being their national animal.

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 11 2020, 07:37 PM

I wish Ken would sit down and shut up

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 11 2020, 07:42 PM

I don’t have a f-ing clue over the Duck.

Mel C I don’t see though. I think she’s a bit of a better vocalist. Don’t think it’s Mel B either. I actually don’t think it’s a singer tbh.

Hedgehog I’m leaning towards Jason Manford but my mams convinced it’s Michael Ball.

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 11 2020, 07:44 PM

I think Michael Crawford

Posted by: Liаm Jan 11 2020, 07:47 PM

A lot of people seem to think Skin from Skunk Anansie is the Duck, not sure about that one myself

Hedgehog I'm gonna say Michael Ball?

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 11 2020, 07:58 PM

Thinking Will Mellor

Posted by: Liаm Jan 11 2020, 08:00 PM

Will Mellor isn't a bad guess, it's definitely not Alexander Armstrong like I thought last week laugh.gif Still stumped on this one tbh

Posted by: kye Jan 11 2020, 08:04 PM

the hedgehog is definitely Jason Manford!

Posted by: ChRiMbO LeG PiPe Jan 11 2020, 08:19 PM

Nah hedgehog is Jason Mraz!

Queen Bee obviously Nicola. Alive sounds like her X Factor live performances before the band.

Posted by: Liаm Jan 11 2020, 08:24 PM

I'm coming round to Duck being Skin actually laugh.gif Next time I will no doubt change my mind again.

WHAT at Justin! rotf.gif Screaming at Rita thirsting and waiting for Anthony Joshua and it being Justin Hawkins.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 11 2020, 08:27 PM

Justin Hawkins never once come to mind for Chameleon!

It’s actually obvious as well seeing him perform unmasked laugh.gif

Posted by: Jester Jan 11 2020, 08:28 PM

Rita soon changed her mind laugh.gif I’m revising down the quality of these celebs.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 11 2020, 08:33 PM

I was watching a few mins behind so didn't comment here live

I knew it was Justin from the sing off performance! Happy I was correct

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 11 2020, 08:50 PM

Duck is definitely Skin from Skunk Anansie! I found an article about her being sung Happy Birthday by 800,000 fans in Poland. (and it sounds like her)

Duck = Skin
Bee = Nicola Roberts

We know those two for sure. You can even hear Nicola's Leeds accent coming through in the VOs rotf.gif How did it tske y'all two episodes to realise?!

Hoping one is Kelis and Unicorn is almost certainly John Barrowman.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 12 2020, 05:00 PM

I don't think Unicorn is John, as Unicorn directly said John's name in the VT.#

I think it's Jake Shears - as Unicorn mentioned they grew up on a 'small island' (Shears grew up on San Juan Island), and then mentioned they moved to 'the big city' while holding an apple (Shears did move to New York after college).

Do you mean Liverpool? She's from Runcorn

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 12 2020, 06:03 PM

Some people on twitter are saying Kevin McHale as Unicorn but I’m still saying John.

Kelis definitely sounded like the Daisy last week. Infact that was the quickest one I’ve gotten so far tbh if is her. By like 10 seconds last week I said it’s Kelis 100%. I listen to Flesh Tone a lot so if it’s not her I’ll be shocked and the clues all added up to her.

The Octopus is still the one what’s puzzling me the most though. I need to hear another performance where I’ll imagine some names what come to mind will go. I imagine whoever’s behind that costume will be there until towards the end though. I mean my first guess for octopus was West End Star Carley Stenson who played Steph in Hollyoaks but I’m thinking it’s perhaps someone slightly more known.

Posted by: Lee_J11 Jan 12 2020, 07:15 PM

I did think Unicorn was John Barrowman at first but now I’ve seen Jake Shears suggested, I just can’t see past that.

I listened to Unicorns performance again from last night and it just screams Jake Shears.

Posted by: Liаm Jan 12 2020, 07:26 PM

Yeah there's certain phrases he sings and I can only hear Jake laugh.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 12 2020, 07:35 PM

So if it’s Jake was his lie that acting changed his life?

I’m gonna have to listen again. I can’t say I’ve heard his voice yet but I did used to be a fan of Scissor Sisters.

I never heard Justin in Chameleon though but it was so obvious when he was unmasked I was thinking how the hell did I not get that laugh.gif

Gah this show really is puzzling me in such a good way. Like I’m actually low key really invested in trying to work out who is who laugh.gif

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 18 2020, 07:16 PM

Octopus could be Stephanie Mcintosh

Posted by: Jester Jan 18 2020, 07:19 PM

Octopus Natalie Imbruglia?

Posted by: Nick Jonas Jan 18 2020, 07:24 PM

Definitely American, but I’m stumped.

Posted by: Rossco Jan 18 2020, 07:25 PM

Sounded very much like Kylie to me

Posted by: Klaus Jan 18 2020, 07:28 PM

Octopus is really intriguing me as I have absolutely no idea. Surely they can’t mean the actual Apprentice show, unless they have appeared on a US or Australian version of the Celebrity Apprentice?

Daisy, Monster and Fox are all obvious ones so I’m just looking forward to this week’s reveal now kink.gif

Posted by: Liаm Jan 18 2020, 07:33 PM

As obvious as Nicola, this is Kelis and the VT showed it! She's a trained chef and Jerk Ribs is one of her songs which was on the menu in the VT, plus you can just tell from the voice.

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 18 2020, 07:33 PM

Defo Kelis

Posted by: Klaus Jan 18 2020, 07:45 PM

I'm going to guess Example for Monster now laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm Jan 18 2020, 07:47 PM

I still think he's double bluffing with that lmao, his wiki says he was a problem child ("little monster" from the VT) plus one of his biggest inspirations is Gary Glitter. It didn't sound as much like him this week though

Posted by: Jester Jan 18 2020, 07:50 PM

Monster is still Ceelo

Posted by: Liаm Jan 18 2020, 07:54 PM

Fox definitely Denise Van Outen, more convinced with the clues alluding to Strictly.

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 18 2020, 07:54 PM

Fox is Denise van Outen

Posted by: JosephStyles Jan 18 2020, 07:56 PM

Yup I'm convinced on Denise!!

Posted by: Klaus Jan 18 2020, 08:01 PM

Yeh, when she was on before I was thinking someone of the Loose Women ilk/ guest run in Eastenders and then later saw the teapot thing for Denise, who fits my thinking perfectly!

Posted by: Klaus Jan 18 2020, 08:11 PM

Octopus is maybe Katherine Jenkins? Definitely not a pop singer from that performance.

Posted by: legendsglory Jan 18 2020, 08:19 PM

Monster could be John Newman or Rag n Bone man ?? Both of them have had hits with Calvin Harris which was a clue

Posted by: Nick Jonas Jan 18 2020, 08:31 PM

Don’t think anyone guessed Teddy Sherringham biggrin.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 18 2020, 08:35 PM

I'd seen a few guesses online for him

Posted by: kye Jan 18 2020, 08:36 PM

bringing my guess from twitter over.. i think octopus could be bonnie anderson. she was an apprentice mechanic on neighbours and featured in a maybelline campaign.. to make her first million? i think it’s someone along those lines.. it doesn’t strike me as someone *that* famous.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 18 2020, 08:43 PM

Octopus is puzzling me so much!

Fox I can see it being Denise though. But I don’t understand the clues much well the dancing one I do but was there one about record breaking in US or was that for another one of the singers?

I’m with Davina on Monster actually being CeeLo. If it’s someone who’s had a hit with Calvin possibly Rag N Bone Man but personality wise he’s very shy and I don’t think he’d do something like this.

Kelis is 10000% Daisy. She’s the first one I got instantly from one note. I’d know her voice and like others have said the clues in the VT showed song titles from her album FOOD. I knew Rita would get that one first. I can see why some of the judges said Macy though.

Tree was the right one to go!

Posted by: JosephStyles Jan 18 2020, 08:56 PM

Yeah Denise had the record-breaker clue, and she is indeed a record-breaker laugh.gif https://www.digitalspy.com/showbiz/a235793/van-outen-breaks-jelly-eating-record/

The Apprentice thing is because her house was used as the one the contestants stay in during one of the series.

Lots of people speculating Rag now for Monster - I'll have to go back and look at the previous clues.

Posted by: Klaus Jan 18 2020, 10:51 PM

Rag N Bone Man has a much stronger voice and a completely tone as well! There’s no way he’d do a show like this at this stage in his career.

He only crossed my mind from the Calvin Harris clue.

But his personality to me has always seemed he’s very shy and he doesn’t really like doing things like interviews so I don’t think he’d do something like this unless he was paid a lot but I’ll still say Cee Lo.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 18 2020, 11:16 PM

Octopus wise I’m gonna go with Lea Michele.

This is a video of her singing Part Of My World and there are similarities.

https://youtu.be/9axL2KwzVN0

Posted by: Jonjo Jan 18 2020, 11:32 PM

Pretty much certain for me:
Queen Bee: Nicola Roberts
Monster: Cee-Lo Green
Daisy: Kelis
Fox: Denise Van Outen
Unicorn: Jake Shears
---
I was confident until I came on here lmao:
Octopus: Dannii Minogue
---
Maybe. The most likely guess I've seen:
Hedgehog: Jason Manford
---
No Idea:
Duck: I'm outta options especially as I think the Skunk Anansie one going around is the actual answer and I have NO idea what their voice sounds like laugh.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 18 2020, 11:56 PM

I have to admit I have no clue at all who Skunk was until this show existed laugh.gif laugh.gif

I also think Jason is the hedgehog but I’m not at all certain. I just think it’s a Male from somewhere in the UK what’s fairly north (well north of Birmingham but south of north east). My mam thinks Hedgehog is Michael Ball though.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 19 2020, 01:37 AM

Skin, as part of Skunk Anansie, was the first black female Glastonbury headliner in 1999!

It's a shame they're one of the lesser known headliners now from that period - but that's mostly due to them breaking up for originally in 2001.

Posted by: Oliver Jan 19 2020, 09:24 AM

I'm more convinced at that split second of opera that the Octopus is Katherine Jenkins.

Posted by: Liаm Jan 19 2020, 01:08 PM

Seen a few people suggesting Octopus could be Mylene Klass, a piano recital of hers was a prize on the Apprentice in 2016 and apparently her record deal for her album was one of the biggest of all time in terms of classical music (which would explain "shook hands on a record breaking deal" or whatever she said).

It's the cosmetics clue throwing me off! I thik Katharine Jenkins sounds like a good guess but then what of the cosmetics clue? laugh.gif

Posted by: Herbs Jan 19 2020, 02:14 PM

What surprises me most is that Davina hasn’t figured out Queen Bee - wasn’t she the presenter of Popstars the Rivals and would therefore know Nicola’s voice/ that she was a wildcard

Find it interesting that in this weeks show they have possibly guessed two already (CeeLo and Kelis). I’m actually waiting for a clue where it is announced that two of the masked singers have recorded together....

I’m now thinking Dannii Minogue for Octopus, although Lea Michele is an actress and could be putting on that accent/persona

Posted by: Jonjo Jan 19 2020, 02:24 PM

Lea Michele is much better at singing pop songs than whoever was singing 'One Last Time' last night laugh.gif I always found the Minogue sisters in general to be hit and miss vocally in live performances. So tie that in with the fact they're purposefully trying to disguise their voices at the same time.. that's what helped me come to the conclusion that it was Dannii. laugh.gif (And the Jason Donovan pic)

Posted by: Liаm Jan 19 2020, 02:27 PM

Yeah I thought the same about Lea, plus I feel like her voice so full and strong it'd be harder for her to hide it if she was just singing differently to throw them off the scent, plus none of the clues really make sense for her.

I bet it's someone so ridiculously random laugh.gif

Lea Michele fits a cosmetic clue because she signed a million dollar deal with L’Oreal to be the face of it.

But having said that I do think she is better than last nights performance. But the first performance sounded a lot like her. I think it’s someone who’s good at acting /accents and someone who isn’t using their real voice. It’s also someone who can sing classical and I think Lea is classically trained.

I’d be stunned if it was Dannii Minogue I didn’t think she could sing that well definitely not as well as the Part Of My World performance.

100% this. Dannii is not a great singer, so no idea how she could do the mermaid song! Maybe it's an opera/ theatre singer who's not used to pop numbers.

Posted by: kye Jan 20 2020, 01:50 AM

lea michele is way too big for this show, she’d never do it - they also wouldn’t have the budget for someone like her. plus, she has a really distinctive tone (even if she tried to disguise it) so you’d hear it a mile away.

dannii minogue was a judge on the australian masked singer, i don’t think she’d go from panel to contestant. dannii was also on home + away - the clue showed jason donovan in his neighbours years.

myleene has a raspier voice than the octopus - have any of you heard the hear’say stuff? laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm Jan 20 2020, 01:59 AM

Yeah that's also true about Lea, she has one of those strong, clear and distinctive voices where I think even if she tried to sound different in certain songs, there'd always be something lingering that gave her away laugh.gif

With all due respect to her, there's also no way Dannii Minogue has that good a voice!! Octopus is annoying me so much, I kind of wanted Tree to stay yday so we could see who Octopus was but I guess it's going to keep some mystery in the show as most of the other ones right now are obvious.

the second series will pull in some bigger names - especially as its itv’s biggest entertainment show now. most will have been slightly apprehensive about the fact it was a new format. i think they’ll follow america + have a second series near christmas to replace x factor. they’ll want to strike while the iron’s hot + every agent will want to get their celebrity on the show.

doesn't say when though kink.gif. i think itv will compare the ratings of x factor + masked singer + be re-thinking their options.

Posted by: Auld Lang Peen Jan 20 2020, 07:20 PM

Exactly. X Factor will be a quick all stars anyway. They can out that trout at any old time.

Posted by: .MIKE. Jan 20 2020, 09:46 PM

I was properly convinced that Octopus was Martine McCutcheon on Saturday tbf..

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 07:07 PM

On now!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 07:09 PM

Ceelo Green is a grandfather! Definitely looking likely to be him

Posted by: Liаm Jan 25 2020, 07:11 PM

He also wrote Don't Cha I'm pretty sure so I'm almost certain now!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 07:12 PM

Yeah he produced it apparently! Must be him

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 07:19 PM

Fox mentioned broken heels - Alexandra Burke?

Posted by: Nick Jonas Jan 25 2020, 07:29 PM

Obviously DVO

Posted by: LMLou Jan 25 2020, 07:32 PM

I can’t at the Natalie Cole guess, didn’t she die years ago??

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 25 2020, 07:33 PM

So far definitely CeeLo Green, Denise Van Outen and Kelis

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 07:33 PM

She died in 2015!

Posted by: Liаm Jan 25 2020, 07:35 PM

Yeah she died in 2015!! I can't rotf.gif

I'm as confident that Daisy is Kelis as I am that Queen Bee is Nicola Roberts.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 07:36 PM

Oh dear they've even tagged Natalie on twitter!

Posted by: LMLou Jan 25 2020, 07:38 PM

Nicola sounds a lot better than I thought she did, but I’m still convinced it’s her

Dead. Literally 😂

Posted by: darrens94 Jan 25 2020, 07:45 PM

I think Katherine Jenkins still, she had a cameo in Emmerdale

Posted by: Liаm Jan 25 2020, 07:54 PM

Sarah Jessica Parker did Let's Have A Kiki on Glee so Unicorn has to be Jake Shears, I'm convinced now!

Posted by: Liаm Jan 25 2020, 08:12 PM

Duck is definitely Deborah Dyer from this vocal!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 08:16 PM

I've never heard Skin referred by her real name before laugh.gif

Posted by: Nick Jonas Jan 25 2020, 08:23 PM

Posted by: Liаm Jan 25 2020, 08:31 PM

Imagine saving f***ing Cee-Lo over Kelis

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 08:35 PM

Sharon and Kelly Osbourne guest judging next week!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 25 2020, 09:06 PM

How is Duck still there! wacko.gif

Kelis was robbed there as well I’d have saved her over Monster but again there’s more mystery with him as there’s a few people it could potentially be although it’s likely its Cee-Lo.

So yeah not the result I hoped for BUT I knew it was her from like one note of performance one so her leaving means there’s still some form of mystery as I’m not certain on many others apart from the Bee.

Posted by: Oliver Jan 25 2020, 11:15 PM

I’m catching up now, was the sound a bit weird tonight? The contestants all sounded either really quiet or really echoey! unsure.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 11:18 PM

I didn't notice anything strange with the sound

Posted by: Herbs Jan 25 2020, 11:37 PM

Queen Bee’s to lose now. Still confused as to how Davina has not figured it out!

Posted by: Oliver Jan 25 2020, 11:40 PM

She’s still on fire mind, guessing Denise Van Outen and Jake Shears for the first time!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 25 2020, 11:42 PM

I presume the audience votes for the winner?

Posted by: Oliver Jan 25 2020, 11:43 PM

I’m now also thinking Jason Manford for the Hedgehog; he sang an Oasis song and they, like him, are from Manchester!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 26 2020, 12:05 AM

So I just watched the show again I had visitors over when it was actually on

But I’m gonna go with Katherine now for the Octopus. I’ve said three different people for her now but I don’t think it’s Lea Michele anymore.

Denise Van Outen for Fox now as well. Sticking with Jason for Hedgehog. Unicorn still sounds like John to me but I can see the Jake clues but I thought I loved Jakes voice I was a scissor sisters fan back in the day but some of the vocals on this have been ropey.

Duck is probably Skin I’d have never got that if I didn’t look at social sites though I’d have had no clue. They’re my least favourite though of the remaining masked singers. Just the least pleasant to listen too for me.

Some of the guesses though. Diane Abbott, Maya Jama, Gemma Atkinson and someone who’s actually dead eeek.

Also so ironic how the bottom two by the audience are the two who are (on a global scale) the two most successful singers laugh.gif

I’m thinking Bee is most likely to win. Octopus could be a dark horse if they continue down the more classical / theatre route and not pop though.

Only thing I’m not looking forward too next week. Is Kelly and Sharon. Those trolls still getting TV gigs mad.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 26 2020, 02:01 AM

Unsurprising but great news!

Posted by: Auld Lang Peen Jan 26 2020, 01:42 PM

That was not Nicola Roberts' finest performance! It was bad!

Kelis kicked out drama.gif She should have been in the final with octopus and queen bee!

Posted by: Herbs Jan 26 2020, 04:44 PM

I think the issue with Kelis and CeeLo Green is that they cannot belt out a song like Nicola/Denise can - so it made sense that they ended up in the bottom 2.

Think Duck would have been bottom 2 on a public vote though....

Posted by: Vülker Jan 26 2020, 05:13 PM

The Octopus is Courtney Act, surely?

Posted by: Oliver Jan 26 2020, 09:35 PM

Nah I can’t hear Courtney’s voice at all.

Posted by: Adam Jan 27 2020, 10:38 AM

Yeah no Courtney's voice is... nowhere near as pleasant.

Posted by: Klaus Jan 27 2020, 10:47 AM

Aww gutted for Kelis, especially with Monster being saved over her!

In terms of the actual ‘competition’, it’s surely Nicola’s to loose?! I’m really surprised at how powerful her voice is. It feels it has improved a lot! I do cackle when they guess Nadine for her laugh.gif

It is good that they are throwing out the names that are more accurate - although I didn’t understand the muted response to Davina guessing Jake Shears! I’m really hoping after all the intrigue, Octopus isn’t some random Emmerdale star laugh.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 27 2020, 10:47 AM

To put it diplomatically I can’t see it being Courtney either.

It’s definitely someone who can really SING. Courtney is about as likely as Dannii Minogue laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm Jan 27 2020, 11:09 AM

I'm so desperate to see who Octopus is but part of me is so ready for it to be someone really random and disappointing laugh.gif

Definitely not Courtney though, you'd spot her tone a mile off!

Posted by: Herbs Jan 27 2020, 11:22 AM

Yeah doubt Octopus is Courtney. Would love it to be Mylene Klass, who does have a classical background. Could it also be Susanne Shaw (wasn’t she also in Emmerdale?)

Posted by: Medellíam Jan 30 2020, 06:13 PM

Octopus is Saara Aalto, no? Just checked out that performance of 'Diamonds Are Forever' and it sounds quite unmistakable.

Posted by: Forever European Jan 30 2020, 06:22 PM

Ahhh that would explain the accent when she said I have twenty, in the Mermaid song!

Posted by: Herbs Jan 30 2020, 06:28 PM

omg would love it to be Saara!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 30 2020, 06:31 PM

I'll have to look back, but I'm pretty sure there were some clues that Saara wouldn't fit with (like the Dales)

Posted by: Adam Jan 30 2020, 06:55 PM

Yeah I didn't get Saara from it at all, nor from Splish Splash, and I've seen Saara multiple times!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 30 2020, 10:12 PM

Myleene Klass fits clues for Octopus but I haven’t really heard her voice

I’ve been trying to find videos of her singing (like non hear say stuff laugh.gif )

I’m fairly certain now that it’s the following...

Queen Bee = Nicola Roberts
Monster = Cee Lo Green
Fox = Denise Van Outen
Octopus = Katherine Jenkins
Duck = Skin
Hedgehog = Jason Manford
Unicorn = Jake Shears

Not gonna lie it’ll be a travesty if Queen Bee doesn’t win this.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Feb 1 2020, 10:34 PM

Katherine for Octopus again! That’s still who I most want to see unmasked but not yet!

The right two went tonight tbh.

Agree on Queen Bee for the win though.

Posted by: Liаm Feb 1 2020, 10:36 PM

Agreed on these, when people suggested Katherine before I was unsure but she was actually in Emmerdale (didn't think of that til tonight, despite the Dales clue being last week) plus Doctor Who was referenced today, and then because she did a pop ballad that focused on her tone, you could recognise her voice! I'm pretty much 100% on all these, maybe like 90% on Jason laugh.gif

Posted by: Herbs Feb 1 2020, 10:43 PM

There’s an article claiming Queen Bee has been rumbled because of Little Mix references! Do like how the producers/singers are deliberately throwing in red herrings

Ah then it's Katherine! I watched her Doc Who ep a few times over Christmas - one of rhe best ever festive doc whos.

Posted by: Lukuzz Feb 2 2020, 09:58 AM

I predicted these before the reveal last night

My guesses for @MaskedSingerUK
Fox - Denise Van Outen
Duck - Skin from Skunk Anansie
Unicorn - Jake Shears
Queen Bee - Nicola Roberts
Monster - Cee Lo Green
Hedgehog - Michael Ball
Octopus - Katherine Jenkins

Only one I'm not too sure on is Hedgehog

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Feb 2 2020, 10:04 AM

Hedgehog now I'm pretty much certain it's Jason Manford

Posted by: gooddelta Feb 2 2020, 10:12 AM

Queen Bee is absolutely amazing in this, makes you realise how underused Nicola was in Girls Aloud, she was often given the more pretty and delicate parts of their songs, but I never realised she had such power and control when belting it out too.

Posted by: Oliver Feb 2 2020, 11:05 AM

I always remember her doing that Girls Aloud Party thing back in 2008 and her belting her section in "The Loving Kind" and the crowd cheering and knew from then that she was one of, if not the strongest singer in the group.

Posted by: Jester Feb 2 2020, 03:42 PM

Yeah. The clues are very, VERY clever. I still think it's Nicola, just because I feel like Nicola's voice is a bit more higher/"shrilly" (? lack of a better word </3) than Jade's voice. I feel like Jade's is a bit more wholesome/filling to me.

I really hope QB can win. Her performances have definitely been the more consistent and strongest wub.gif

I think Little Mix we’re doing their LM5 tour at the time this was filmed.

Bit underwhelmed by Queen Bees performance. Worried!

tbh the whole thing has become a bit less exciting now we’re like 90% we know all of them

Posted by: Herbs Feb 8 2020, 08:35 PM

I am not sure on Hedgehog

Most of the clues for Octopus can be linked to Katherine Jenkins and Sheree Murphy - but all I can hear in the operatic sections is Katherine

I’m a bit baffled how Hedgehog has outlasted so many people tbh. I hope Bee wins.

Jason Manford outlasting Kelis and Cee-Lo Green though laugh.gif laugh.gif

Hedgehog has to Jason Manford. His ‘My Way’ performance sounds exactly like this performance that’s on YouTube.

Hedgehog is bookie fave to win.

I want Nicola Roberts to win, but it will be:

1. Katherine Jenkins
2. Jason Momford
3. Nicola Roberts

Still, she got another medal position in another singing competition! Slay!

It’s so mad that Jason Manford also beat International artists like Kelis and Cee Lo as well!

It’s even funnier that on the current US series Lil Wayne was the first to get unmasked. Such an unpredictable show results wise when there isn’t a public vote. This is so gonna open doors for Nicola though I wouldn’t be surprised at her releasing another solo album off the back of this but at the least she’s gonna get theatre gigs! A very worthy winner she’s been the most consistent overall so she was the right choice.

Posted by: Nick Jonas Feb 16 2020, 12:25 PM

6.4m for the final last night, with an 8.4m peak ohmy.gif

WHAAAAT! Crazy! It's nice seeing those kinda ratings again for a reality show of this nature heart.gif

Posted by: Liаm Feb 16 2020, 01:53 PM

That's amazing, it just goes to show that a huge problem with the other singing reality shows is that they take themselves too seriously. This was just a fun, engrossing watch, no promise of "life changing" recording contracts, I'm sure the artists had loads of fun just getting to sing different kinds of songs under a disguise as well and test putting themselves out there. Hopefully it will lead to something for Nicola though!

Posted by: Lukuzz Feb 16 2020, 02:12 PM

Nicola best release an album soon

Posted by: Jordan Lee Feb 16 2020, 02:21 PM

8.4m is amazing.

I guess another reason it could be successful is we don’t get “fix” claims because there’s no public vote and it’s just different too like it’s fun to watch, doesn’t take itself seriously and there’s genuine mystery too like even though I knew around half of them there was some contestants on this show I’d have never guessed (like Teddy and Alan for instance laugh.gif ).

I mean true, but would anyone who isn't a stan know that though? It's not exactly known for it's roaring success.

I literally haven't watched any of this except the final which I surprisingly enjoyed. Will deffo have to go back and watch from the beginning. I guessed Nicola Roberts straight away because her voice is so distinct, and my friend called Jason Manford because he's seen him live (I had no idea he sang?)

Also queen Rita Ora getting 3/3. We love a knowledgeable ho.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Feb 17 2020, 12:31 PM

Idk like on a site like this Clues seemed obvious but to the GP not so much. Like Kelis showing off a load of her songs on her clues (but not obvious ones like Milkshake) and Nicola saying her album title and beating the drum. I’d also say a lot of people wouldn’t know Katherine Jenkins was in Emmerdale either so I can see how that clue three people.

Like I said to my mam it’s Nicola bc Cinderella's Eyes was her album name and I mentioned some of the other obvious clues like She can’t speak French but her reply was “neither can Jade” laugh.gif she was so adamant it was Jade.

I’m baffled at how anyone said Jade though tbh not just clues wise but voice wise I hear no similarities what so ever. What I loved though about this show was how diverse it was and like you could watch it with your family and all guess someone depending on age, interests etc. Like my dad for instance got Teddy and I definitely wouldn’t have at all. My mam also guessed a few like she got Patsy Palmer and Denise.

Some of them though I really didn’t need any clues for like Kelis and Cee Lo were instant. With Nicola I said straight away it was Nicola then said maybe it’s Charlotte Church. But from her second performance I only heard Nicola I think Alive was like the least distinct she sounded tbh. laugh.gif

Posted by: Brett-Butler Feb 18 2020, 09:30 PM

Nicola Roberts was a worthy winner, and surprised that Jason Manford ended up being Hedgehog - even though everyone on Twitter was adamant it was him, I still thought it could have been Michael Ball. I didn't realise he had such a great voice!

And I must say that despite my scepticism before it was announced, I congratulate ITV on the casting being genuinely impressive, with a mix of bone-fide global stars like Cee-Lo, Kelis & Katherine Jenkins, some singers you wouldn't expect to to a show like this like Skin or Justin Hawkins, as well as a few surprising non-singers like Teddy Sherringham & the former Home Secretary. Given that they got a cast this decent before the show was even a hit, it gives me hope that the standard of celebrity on the next series will be on a par with it, or better.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Apr 30 2020, 01:58 PM

Sounds like series 2 may go live if they can't have a studio audience (not sure how else the voting would be done!)

Posted by: Klaus May 21 2020, 12:00 PM

ITV will be airing Season 2 of the US version over the summer! ohmy.gif

It’s a good idea to fill up empty space but not sure how it will work considering there’s likely a few stars the majority will definitely never have heard of! I feel I checked who the celebrities where but I’ve forgotten (aside from Michelle Williams) and I’ve seen a few from Season 3 who I’m like WhooOoooO

Also the fact you can actually see who everyone is from Day 1 tearsmile.gif

I really didn’t recognise many from that line up and I watch a lot of trashy reality shows and know of people (well I thought I did) who had middling hits 10-15 year ago before disappearing.

i imagine with how low they are on programming it may go on the main channel?

Nope it's been confirmed for the main channel!

I expect it'll do pretty dismally, it would probably be more worthwhile showing BGT compilations.

That was literally my thoughts when I watch The Masked Singer Australia! It seemed like such a cool idea and I was excited to watch it on tv when it started but I knew barely ANY of the stars when they were revealed:lol:

I knew most on the most recent US season, there was some fairly diverse bg names a lot of UK viewers will know Chaka Khan, Dionne Warwick, Lil' Wayne, Tony Hawk but then a lot of them were quite random. It'd be the same if American viewers watched ours I suppose laugh.gif

I’d love to see the US react to Patsy Palmer, Denise Van Outen and Jason Manford be unmasked!

Kelis and Cee-Lo could’ve done their version though!

patsy palmer is dj julie in california though ohmy.gif

Apparently it's only airing at 5pm, so it won't really matter if it does do terribly for that slot.

I mean tbf they may as well put something on that's readily available, if it's this or endless repeats of the same films/documentaries about corona then I'd prefer this laugh.gif

It's now down to start at 16:40 on June 6th.

Mo Gilligan has replaced Ken Jeong for season 2!

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 19 2020, 08:15 PM

Mo Gilligan was a MASSIVE highlight of Celebrity Gogglebox recently so I'm SO here for this *.*

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Aug 19 2020, 08:19 PM

Hmm I'm not a fan of him particularly, but anyone will be better than Ken laugh.gif

Posted by: Klaus Aug 19 2020, 08:35 PM

omg that’s a great replacement!!

Posted by: kye Aug 19 2020, 08:42 PM

covid finally has an upside!

That's a good move. Ken Jeong was the weak link in the 1st series, and Mo is decent from what I know of him.
