Wolf Alice straight to A-list, really? Don't get the rationale behind that at all. Especially considering only 4 of their previous 13 singles were even A-listed unsure.gif

I think we can assume at this point that they're going to snub the Clean Bandit single, which is really odd. And probably Rita Ora too, although that's less surprising.

Ava A-listed for the fist time since SBP *.*

Wow fantastic surprise to see Wolf Alice straight into the A-List certainly well deserved though as I think they are an A List type of band now following two critically claimed albums their popularity has risen. Other than that not many other big songs I’m into.

Pity the new Ella Henderson/Tom song isn’t in there probably because the current single. Maybe later in the spring?

London Grammar seem to be losing momentum with their releases on B listed for a few weeks with this one. Is the album not out for a while?

London Grammar's album was supposed to be February 12th, now pushed back to April 9th!

That’s a mistake imo, they maybe have a big hit for before it’s released! It it’s off the daytime playlist already can see their new song being released in the next two weeks to Annie Mac!

wow very surprising playlist
if something, I was expecting Joel Corry to be insta-added not Wolf Alice
but it's great that R1 keeps supporting UK alt bands

really thought Joel Corry would be insta-added considering how huge Head & Heart was, sure it will be added soon though

also surprised at Dua being stuck on the B-list

Have Radio 1 been supportive of HAIM this era? I can't recall.

They have - three of the four singles were A-listed.

I'm not surprised about Wolf Alice going straight to the A list - they had it as Annie's hottest record on Wednesday, where they also co-hosted the first hour of the show. Love the song - very deserved.

Also very happy for Griff and Ava to be A listed - I didn't think either would get there! Also great to see another B listed single for SG Lewis. Nice additions to the C list too; Meteor has been sounding great on Annie and Jack's shows.

Still no Baby Queen sad.gif I really thought she had a chance with Raw Thoughts, considering it' been getting a lot of spins on Annie and Jack's shows and it was Greg's tune of the week recently.

She just released a new single, so I guess that could be playlisted soon?

I think if they were going to playlist anything by her it would be Raw Thoughts. It's still relatively new and it's very radio friendly. Her new single, 'These Drugs', is a lot slower and is unlikely to be played much. They may not even be allowed to call it by that title, considering the word 'drugs' is censored in most songs on the station (see James Vincent McMorrow's Gone).

Just look at Jack Saunders' show. He's a big fan of Baby Queen - he made Raw Thoughts his tune of the week, and he's played all of her singles from the very beginning. 'These Drugs' came out earlier this week and it's not had one play, despite the fact that he has a segment in his show where he plays brand new songs that were released on that same day.

Ah that's a very good point tbf, I didn't think about the title laugh.gif I always find it odd that they even play censored versions of songs on the late night show, anyone know if that's a rule?

I think it must be, as Jack played an explicit song on his show on Tuesday (presumably by accident) and apologised afterwards, despite it being gone 11pm.

I just had a look at the BBC's editorial guidelines, this is what it says about it:

QUOTE
5.3.12 Radio does not have a watershed. Our scheduling decisions should be based on the audience expectations of each radio service and informed by our knowledge of when children are particularly likely to be in our audience, for example, during the morning and afternoon school runs or during school holidays. Unexpected or challenging material should be clearly signposted to avoid causing unjustifiable offence.

For a new series, where there is a risk that content may not meet generally accepted standards, there should normally be a discussion early in the production process to establish parameters of tone and content appropriate to the platform, context and slot. A returning series which has established expectations of strong language and content should have a similar discussion before the start of each run.

5.3.13 We should normally play edited versions of music which would otherwise feature unsuitable material, including strong language or violent content, for mainstream daytime audiences. At other times and in specialist music programmes, the original version may be editorially justified but it should be within the audience expectations for the programme and, if necessary, we should take steps to achieve this (for example, signposting and content information).

It's a bit dramatic to say they're done with CB, they could quite easily playlist the next one if it looks like being a hit
