The BBC are confirmed to still be going ahead with a new series of Top Gear despite the firing of Jeremy Clarkson and the questions of whether James May and Richard Hammond will still continue presenting the show. So, who would you like to see present the new series. Even if you do not watch the show (anymore?), would your ideal new presenter convince you to watch the show? Chris Evans has had his name repeatedly come up as the favourite despite numerous denials that it is not happening, calling it 'absolute nonsense' and it was 'never going to happen'. Other names that have been brought up include Jodie Kidd, Suzi Perry, Guy Martin, Vicki Butler-Henderson, John Bishop, Adrian Chiles and... Alan Partridge. I'm sure Dermot O'Leary will be the next rumour targeted by tabloids considering yesterday's news despite him being a far from obvious choice. -x- Full line up (from L-R) is: Rory Reid (Presenter) Sabine Schmitz (German racing driver) Matt LeBlanc (Actor) Chris Evans (Radio 2/Presenter) Chris Harris (Motor Journalist/YouTube star) Eddie Jordan (F1 Constructor/F1 Commentator) |

I saw The Classic Car Show a few weeks ago on Channel 5, and Jodie Kidd was quite good actually. Chris Evans would be the obvious choice. At the current rate they might need three new replacements though. I can't see Hammond or May staying after they've been so supportive of Clarkson.

Suzi Perry would be FAB (and may actually make me want to watch). She was amazing on The Gadget Show

Sue Perkins has been forced to quit Twitter after receiving death threats over the story that she might replace Clarkson on Top Gear.

That issue taken by itself is extremely worrying but what I find increasingly saddening is that death threats are used on a daily basis by social media users over the tiniest little issues. Why would you go out of your way to send a human being a death threat because they may/may not be presenting a TV show?

I can't stand Top Gear (unfortunately I've seen a few episodes as my son loves the bloody thing (hates Clarkson - loves the show)) From what I've seen I'd like to see someone like Phil Glenister have a go.

The hype about Philip Glenister just makes me think that people are actually keen on Gene Hunt hosting it...
He and Alan Partridge would be something of a dream team. |

I'm not really surprised, will now be more shocked if Hammond DID return.
They'll be so much scrutiny on the next series. They'll have to get the perfect presenters for the audience to stay. |

If all 3 do go, which seems very likely, whoever makes a new show with them will probably air it opposite Top Gear or something for added IMPAKT.
It's been clear since the start they all come as a package deal, the reason Hammond and May didn't just leave right away is because they do so many other things for the BBC too, particularly Hammond. I'm sure if they can get it sorted for Hammond too, he will be gone. |

would ITV or channel 4 commission their own copycat version with the 3 presenters? Wouldnt be the first time acts have switched from the BBC - usually with dire results. Sky would prob be an obvious candidate, they can all then kiss each others right-wing money-making anti-environment asses in harmony. Or at least that's the impression I get, I'm sure any of the parties could be lefties supporting low-paid workers on strike. Oh hang on, did one of them suggest shooting me a while ago...?
Oh yes that was Clarkson. At least May is anti-violence. |

As expected, it appears as though Hammond will not be returning either after tweeting this: 'To be clear amidst all this talk of us 'quitting' or not: there's nothing for me to 'quit'. Not about to quit my mates anyway.'
The executive producer has also left. |

i can't see a new series of top gear being that much of a success.
jerimy clarkson made the show what it is and the new presenter would have a lot to fill a hell of a lot |

Rumours are that Jodie Kidd, Philip Glenister and Guy Martin will be the new hosts.
Very odd combination if it is true but I can't see it being likely. It's apparently come from someone overhearing the show's co-creator discussing it during lunch with Jamiroquai's Jay Kay but I think he was probably talking about the rumours considering these have been the three main names. |

After watching some of this Election thing tonight - I'd love Jeremy Paxman to front Top Gear!

It will air one final Clarkson episode that features two previously unaired films starring all three presenters, whilst Richard Hammond and James May will present the studio links.
Also there are rumours it may follow the 'Have I Got News For You' route by having a guest presenter alongside May and Hammond for the next series. |

There were also rumours that once he has 'served his time' they'll bring him back, which does seem like a sensible option. They punished him and can make it look like they only brought him back under strict conditions, whatever those may or may not be.
