Erm don't close my thread which is actually formatted correctly
EDIT: Okay you can have the thread but I'm editing my subtitle in because it's the best pun ever possible. (Thank you record labels for releasing Selena and Hannah on the same week <3)
EDIT 2: EXCUSE ME please don't delete my glorious subtitle
EDIT 3: Reinstating it TBH.

GWON FERGIE SLAY PLS
(rhymes has grown on me aswell, so thats allowed to do decently now... and iggy if she wants to, but i doubt it)
Posted by: SevenSeize Jan 25 2015, 12:13 AM
aside from Fergie inevitably going top 5, i'm kind of unsure how most of the other new releases will do. perhaps Karen Harding/Hannah Wants top 30 (not sure the latter will even get that high though), and i'd expect Selena Gomez to at LEAST make the top 40 considering low sales/how long it's been held back

Erm... well just copied the same stuff from last week no need to shirty about it, we did start both topics at the same time and I wanted a Kylie sub title
Posted by: ¡bré! Jan 25 2015, 12:16 AM
Kylie takes SECOND PRECEDENCE when there's a pun opportunity like this!!1! I can put a Kylie reference in the thread next week if you want ~

Rhymes to flop as much as possible please, it's horrific even for the dance trend.
Great to see Selena starting top 20, she won't stay that high in say a few days but I hope she can get a top 40.
Posted by: ¡bré! Jan 25 2015, 12:33 AM
Woo good start for Hannah Wants. Hope she can go top 10 on iTunes for a bit at least. (Bet she'll end up peaking at #13 though )
Posted by: Dobbo Jan 25 2015, 12:33 AM
Go Karen Harding!
Posted by: Mart!n Jan 25 2015, 12:36 AM
I really wasn't expecting Hannah Wants and Karen Harding that high already, considering their pre-orders.
Posted by: Dobbo Jan 25 2015, 12:37 AM
Just goes to show how well new tracks can do in such a stale environment & the music buying public are just craving anything fresh.
Posted by: Jason Jan 25 2015, 12:38 AM
Hannah hopefully top 10 and Karen top 15! Fergie out of the top 3 please!

The second Kanye & Paul McCartney collab is out now in the USA and presumably out in the UK soon as well (if it isn't already)! Also includes someone called Rihanna, never heard of her.
(I think it's actually being treated as primarily a Rihanna song, it's credited to 'Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney').

Go Hannah Wants and Chris Lorenzo! I don't get the hate for "Rhymes". The track is awesome and I wish the extended mix would have been on iTunes as well.
Anyway, I hope "Lights" could keep climbing and outpeaks its previous peak. It will be interesting if this happens honestly.

It sounds OK, but no better than the sort of song I'd expect as album-filler.

"Four Five Seconds" is up for pre-order, released tomorrow. Better release schedule than "Only One" and it's got Rihanna on it, I reckon it'll hit T10 on sales this week for sure.

I think Fergie will peak at number 2 on iTunes. She'll probably fall during the week but streaming is indicating that it won't be too front loaded.

10. Say Something - Karen Harding 11. Rhymes - Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo 12. Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran
Hannah coming to peak at #11 on iTunes isn't she? Alesso is a bit further ahead
Really surprised to see Karen doing this well but then her pre-order did overtake 'Rhymes' in the last few days. Also low sales etc.
I've not yet heard the Fergie song (will have a listen to it later today if I remember).

(Now to #8).
Hannah Wants actually on the verge of overtaking Alesso on the latest Kworb update so it looks like she will go top 10! Probably still low top 20 at best overall though.
Selena Gomez at #16 - I'd love for her to go top 10 on iTunes as well, a really good and unexpected song from her. Its pre-order was flopping hard though and it did nothing when it was briefly available from her album so not expecting big things, it's probably only so high now due to low sales and being on pre-order for months

Rihanye to completely smash it please! Really, REALLY loving it. (Probably coz it's new Rihanna more than it being a great song, but still a real jam!)

'FourFiveSeconds' is up for pre-order here but says 'released 26 Jan' so it appears that it's on pre-order for one day. Completely pointless move. It's not currently showing in the top 1,500 but then it isn't in the US where it's actually out either - the same thing happened with 'Only One' IIRC so expect it to show up any moment now.
Posted by: Dobbo Jan 25 2015, 01:28 PM
I've listened to this Daft Punk knock-off a few times now and I have to say thank goodness for a radio edit cos I've never heard such a repetitive barrage of nothingness for an extremely long time. It's a shame as the production is really quite good but the vocals are bordering on farcical.

Posted by: Chez Wombat Jan 25 2015, 02:15 PM
Fergie's song is really bizarre - the chorus sounds like a European cheesy novelty song and the verses/'rapping' sound like a really poor imitation of Iggy Azalea with the standard DJ Mustard beat. Definitely not a song we need at number 1, Uptown Funk to slay again plz.
Not a massive fan of the other two entries either, from what I've heard.
Posted by: SLlewellyn Jan 25 2015, 02:19 PM
While I agree that Fergie shouldn't hit #1, I do actually really like the song. Excited to hear what else Fergie has plans to release (though if another Black Eyed Peas album is happening, maybe another solo album will have to wait).

I think the album is still going ahead - I saw a headline on Digital Spy saying how new BEP music might have to go ahead without her, presumably because she's focusing on her solo stuff. Really hope it's not true; BEP will be rubbish without Fergie tbh!

Posted by: ► ▲ N Jan 25 2015, 02:27 PM
good to see Fergie doing well even without R1 support (I guess mass capital fm airplay is just as good though), hopefully Fergie/will.i.am having big solo hits means The Black Eyed Peas will absolutely slay upon their return.
It's very rarely that we get a female DJ doing well in the chart so yay for Hannah Wants doing well! Rhymes is so good too, I don't care how repetitive it sounds, the vocal/beat combination is hypnotising in a good way
Karen Harding doing well too is great to see! Right Here part 2 it is but that's not a bad thing for me
And what is this? Selena Gomez actually releasing a good song? although I did like Naturally when that came out though
Posted by: ¡bré! Jan 25 2015, 03:14 PM
The only other female DJ/producer I can think of who has made the top 40 any time recently was B.Traits with her fleeting #36 smash 'Fever' - I'm sure there must be others that I can't think of but it does seem to be a heavily male-dominated genre.
Posted by: Dobbo Jan 25 2015, 03:22 PM
I was under the impression that Chris Lorenzo did all the production but there you go!
Another act that springs to mind is NERVO. They had a hit last year with R3hab & Ummet Ozcan & one the year before with Nicky Romero, both very good tracks!

Pretty sure it was produced by both of them, the vocals are sampled from Daft Punk so Hannah has to be doing SOMETHING
And I thought NERVO were just vocalists! Good call on them. Though I strongly disagree that they're 'very good tracks', they're both among the dullest dance 'hits' of the last few years for me. 'We're All No One' is a tune though and should have been a hit for them.

Iggy is an imitation of Fergie (and other female rappers) if anything.

'We're All No One' is a tune though and should have been a hit for them.
you're not the first to think that but they definitely DJ/produce. Some of their songs don't even feature their vocals

Say Something 7, if it's able to stay ahead of 'Blank Space' overall then it should easily make the top 10 officially (highly doubt 'Rhymes' will manage the same sadly, but it's done very well to get this high anyway!)

Never heard MNEK described as 'mediocre', his own singles have quite an innovative sound! I think someone like Sam Smith could learn something from songs like 'Every Little Word', 'Wrote A Song About You" and "The Rhythm".
On the other hand, I'd admit some songs he's worked on are nothing special (I still like them though).

20% of the songs he puts out are absolute GOLD (eg. Spoons with Rudimental, Ready For Your Love with Gorgon City, Close with Sub Focus) but the rest of his stuff is absolute turd imo. 'The Rhythm' is such a mess of a song.

"FourFiveSeconds" as Rihanna's 'single' is very interesting indeed - though it's more a "Bang Bang" situation with three lead artists. Was expecting something a little more radio-friendly to lead her album, but I'm happy with it all the same.

Lol she probably doesn't tbf. Kanye's team have confirmed it's his single and included on her album, but her tweets confuse that. I suspect (and hope) she has just made a mistake by saying it's the first single off the album, but who knows. A bit of a mess...
And why isn't it appearing on the feed here
Posted by: ░░░░ Jan 25 2015, 09:30 PM
come on, she's clearly seen the reaction and confusion across the web and all the rumour mill spinning away and that lead single tweet just pours fuel to the fire and rihanna does love to stir stuff up. her tweets have gone from 'first glimpse at my new music' to 'lead single'. ridiculous and playing on the fevered mood online.
none of it makes sense as a lead single for her for a multitude of reasons. suddenly appearing online, also being on kanye's album, using the concept kanye has created, it not being lead single material considering a 2.5 year absence, the fact she is supposed to be releading the ride ost in march etc etc

Yeah it had a music video, cause it was a US single, but never got a push over here. The music channels just play anything that has a video, hence why they picked up Drunk In Love so early

Not that it performed any better over there mind! The era has been a bit of a mess - as far as I'm aware, 'Sweet Talker' is meant to be the current single yet 'Masterpiece' is being promoted at the moment. 'Sweet Talker' was on the Radio 1 playlist but it seems to have been removed now. Shame as she had the potential to have a successful era following 'Bang Bang' and the fact the album has much better material than her last.

Oh yeah, it was a big flop in the US But I doubt Bang Bang's success there was down to Jessie in the slightest Sweet Talker has been and gone now, it went top 100 on iTunes for a bit (and on sales) but missed the top 100 officially. It really is a huge mess though, shame as I like the album (and liked the last album too).

I hope Sia recovers and makes the top 10 this week. It's a shame the video wasn't released after its first week on radio. I don't want a high selling #11
After hearing on the radio a few times 'Sweet Talker' was starting to become the first Jessie J song I was actually beginning to warm to since 'Do It Like a Dude'. Shame she didn't give it a video or much of a push.
Posted by: GTH Jan 25 2015, 11:25 PM
This campaign for Jessie J has been a total mess. They put everything into Bang Bang and just hoped that would do all the work in getting the fanbase back. As dissapointed as I was with the last album, at least the 3 main singles (and Sexy Lady as promo) were handled well. Lot of songs which could be potential hits on the album, just no direction as to where the label want us to focus our attention on.

'FourFiveSeconds' now up to #4 and gaining very quickly, could be headed for #1 on iTunes though it obviously won't challenge Mark Ronson for the week's #1, probably will end up low top 10.
The Zac Samuel remix of 'Say Something' is at #41 - has this remix in particular been used somewhere? Very odd that it's doing so well if not.

compared to Fergie who did moderately well peaking at 27# on billboard hot 100 and going gold. So i kinda expected something similar here in the Uk if not better.

All we need now is Akon, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake to make a successful comeback! (the former two especially as Timberlake has done so more recently).

I suppose Fergie is going to be the latest victim at the #2 spot selling big but not big enough for the big big #1
Also Uptown Funk itself fell victim to Ben Haenow on its second week. How ironic
Other victims:
TOL's potential third week at #1 (thank god )
Something I Need's potential second week at #1
And the Moves Like Jagger like luck, Wish You Were Mine , which would've been 3 weeks at #1!
And only last week, thank goodness stopped Lips Are Moving from getting to #1.
But I think Fergie has to be the unluckiest in terms of popularity bars. Though I'm not sure how big LAM was against Ut F

Oh why did I not know this was happening? (Then again 'Nasty' was like the first time I'd ever been aware of a radio premiere and specifically tuned in for it )
Looks like it is being added as an instant grat later today! Be interesting to see where it debuts, the album did get pretty high on pre-orders but didn't stay high for very long (now seems to have stabilised just outside the top 100 though should hopefully climb again with the release of this new track).

It wasn't even a Hottest Record (Nasty was the week it got released) just a 'World-Wide exclusive as he put it. And he played it 4 times in half an hour and I'm glad as it deserved it. Think il do something I don't normally do and buy another instant grat from an album. Bet by March il only have to pay 2 quid for the actual album when it's released (although I'm pretty sure this will be a vinyl purchase too)!!
Zane Lowe normally has radio premieres each week for eg The Vaccines last week was a premiere of their new single.

Ooh! Nice to see DJ Fresh fairly high. I wonder if he could actually manage to get number 1, now that Mark's sales are slowly falling?
And GREAT to see that Nick will be pushing 'Jealous' as his first single! Or did 'Chains' get a release and just flop? 'Chains' is good, but it's not lead single material! 'Jealous' however, is. I wonder if we'll get the Tinashe remix too?

It's good to see some new tracks in the Top 10 this week after a few weeks of the same old, same old.
Also I'm happy that Top Gear has had no effect on 'Thinking Out Loud' and it looks to be sinking now. Ed seriously needs to move on with the next single now.
Also I'm happy to see Steve Harley staying Top 40. Hopefully the BBC will repeat Top Gear at some point this week (they normally do), so it can be Top 40 on Sunday...though streaming will probably stop it from re-entering.

Could Rihanna/Kanye West/Paul McCartney be about to end Mark Ronson's 40 consecutive day stint at No1 on iTunes?!
Longest consecutive runs at No1 on iTunes since March 2006:
52 days - Gnarls Barkley ~ Crazy (2006) 45 days - Rihanna ~ Umbrella (2007) 40 days - Mark Ronson ~ Uptown Funk (2014/15) 36 days - Take That ~ Patience (2006) 35 days - Leona Lewis ~ Bleeding Love (2007) 34 days - Katy Perry ~ I Kissed A Girl (2008) 33 days - Duffy ~ Mercy (2008) 33 days - Kaiser Cheifs ~ Ruby (2007) 31 days - Daft Punk ~ Get Lucky (2013)
Posted by: ► ▲ N Jan 26 2015, 08:43 PM
strictly speaking Uptown Funk didn't spend 40 consecutive days at #1 as Philip George was #1 for a few hours when the single version was deleted
Posted by: ¡bré! Jan 26 2015, 08:47 PM
288. The Day Is My Enemy - The Prodigy I don't think that's had all the album pre-orders added yet considering some of the obscure stuff that sometimes shows up in the top 100.
Rihanna/Kanye/Paul having a massive update from 0.6182 to 0.7117. Not sure they're going to hit #1 now though as I expect they'll slow down pretty soon.
EDIT:
174. The Day Is My Enemy - The Prodigy 'Nasty' is also back up to #77 and the album is #73.

Has there been any Demis Rousssos/Aphrodite's Child in the iTunes chart since the sad news of his passing today? I imagine he'd not be a very download-friendly artist, but it would mean a lot to see "The Four Horsemen" make it top 1000, if just for one day.

102. The Day Is My Enemy - The Prodigy Not sure if the album pre-orders are still not being added onto this or if I am just massively overestimating how many pre-orders a couple of days top 10 then a couple of weeks lower down is worth ~ Either way it's still climbing pretty decently. I have added my sale to it now anyway

I think you are confusing Rae Sremmurd with Rae Morris here... an understandable confusion as obviously their music is so similar In all seriousness though I was worried for a second there that 'No Type' had suddenly taken off. Thankfully it's still down at #150.
'CoCo' is kind of awful as well but enjoyable in a novelty way. 'Tuesday' is fab though (obviously just climbed a lot today due to being R1 Track of the Day (and, er, Tuesday ) but hopefully that means it might get playlisted tomorrow and become a proper hit). Some high tracks for 59p Does anyone know the highest position (iT or main chart) a song has been 59p at? Perhaps a #1 was 59p at one time

The fact that is sold over 1.2 million suggests it might have deserved to hit #1 at some point. A figure that only about 40 songs have reached since the start of the millennium.

Oh I'm sure it would reach #1 anyway Just 'cause, I'll look to see if there's a thread for that year...
#1 04 Feb 76,109 Cover Drive Twilight 11 Feb 85,985 David Guetta feat. Sia Titanium 18 Feb 83,265 Gotye feat. Kimbra Somebody That I Used To Know
#2 04 Feb 66,043 David Guetta feat. Sia Titanium 11 Feb 76,758 Alyssa Reid feat. Jump Smokers Alone Again 18 Feb 81,142 David Guetta feat. Sia Titanium
Alyssa was approx. 9k behind Guetta that week, so who knows, perhaps 9k people wouldn't pay for it if it was 99p! Poor though since the powerful Gotye 1HW stopped him from spending over a week there

I was expecting this after the album release. I always saw it in the right pane when watching Bass or Lips on YT, it also has the most views for Trainer without being an MV. And a heads up, it sounds nothing like Bass or Lips it's not too bad... And I might have seen it as a A/B side of Bass/Lips or something. Still meaning to read up on what a A/B side is

That's what I thought but I'm not really that bothered about it. As a poster above mentioned it happens often, especially with different album/single releases, remixes etc. Sometimes it's actually better to have different versions like this, for example remixes and original comparisons, but not so much single and album versions, and especially this rare example (of which I haven't seen). Perhaps it cost them a lot to film the video?

I don't necessarily find L.A. Love bad by any means I just find it a bit of a disappointment considering it's her comeback lead single. I just think she could have released something better but kudos to her for scoring a top 3 hit here when I'd written it off as a flop.

The version with YG isn't on UK iTunes. Agreed that 'L.A.LOVE' is a great song though, I've given it 53 plays (according to my iTunes) since it first surfaced. That's more than any song on my iTunes, which dates back to August!

I don't think the track will drop early, ain't it meant to tie in with the movie release, but its nice to see the track that high, it shows there is a huge demand for the single.
Posted by: ► ▲ N Jan 28 2015, 10:39 PM
they should really pull it forward one week, especially as the FSOG soundtrack is currently scheduled for release one week before Love Me Like You Do is, and there's no competition for the #1. She could even release it this Sunday and easily go to #1.

As for the Rihanna single, I haven't added my two pence worth yet, I just feel the track is out of her comfort zone to her previous material. Its not my thing at all, its awful, but that's my opinion on the track. I see the track is trailing off a fair bit now, she be lucky to get #10 by Sunday I think. I predict #11.

They definitely need to release "Love Me Like You Do" early. It's so annoying that record labels don't react when the song is clearly in high demand. Even if its just bringing it forward one week. Whether it's this Sunday or next Sunday it will get to #1 easily.

Indeed holding it back gets high sales mainly in the first week but no stability at the top unless there's no competition whereas look at UF steady and sometimes increased sales throughout its time at no1 for 6/7 weeks (albeit at a busy time like during gift card week)!

9th of Feb is a relatively busy week for releases though, Ne-Yo, DJ Fresh, Charli XCX & Imagine Dragons all stand a chance of number 1 I think (albeit a fluky low sales one). I mean Ellie would likely trump them all easily if it was released, but I wouldn't expect it would be as much of a walkover as it would be if it was released on the 16th. (I doubt it will do it much harm either way)

that 8/9 Feb week will be interesting; Chris Brown/Tyga, LuvBug and Bakermat could all chart relatively high that week too! Just listened to the Fergie and Rihanna songs for the first time. I don't think I've ever before heard something QUITE as formulaic as 'L.A.LOVE (la la)', one of the least interesting 'Rack City' knockoffs to date. 'FourFiveSeconds' is quite good, definitely quite a bold choice of lead single from RiRi, it's not exactly 'We Found Love', but I could see it being pretty big as airplay increases. It's held up well so far at least.

I don't think they would have been, but that's more testament to how important music videos are and how well thought out and powerful videos can add so much more meaning to a song. I do think they stand alone as incredible songs in their own right, but it's great to see her putting so much effort into the visuals too because so many artists do not.
Happy to see 'Chandelier' and 'Solo Dancing' climbing (again). I am really getting into 'Heart on Fire' while listening to Indiana's album, but as she is doomed to release that one song forever more, I hope that can get as much success as possible.

Of course there's that too I know Sia didn't want all that hate on the video for EH but in a way it helped her sell. I'm also not that sure Miley's 2 #1 hits in 2013 would've been so if not for the "unusual" video content she must've been pretty desperate for a comeback

Woah Ellie is doing incredible, we could be looking at a pre-order in the top 10 for like the third (?) time ever?
Posted by: Wall-e Jan 29 2015, 06:32 PM
It would be interesting to see where Charli XCX would be had the single been 99p. I'm guessing within the top 200.
G'won Dj Fresh! 'Gravity' looking likely of being a top 5 hit now which is is good news considering how much Ella has underperformed with solo material.
Woah at Ellie though! I'm wondering if this could get sales of around 130,000? I'm sure that Ellie will be forced to put this on her next album now.

well it's nice to see 'Tether' getting a single release of some variety, but this wasn't what i'd had in mind/expected! interested to hear this

Eric Prydz !!! didn't realise he had a new single coming out, will have to have a listen hope it can chart somewhere in the top 40 anyway, it's about time he went back in the chart; it's been 6 years since his last top 40 hit actually (poor Liberate could only scrape the top 75, now that song was truly amazing)
Posted by: jase. Jan 29 2015, 06:40 PM
Added the Prydz song to the list
Is there a thread which has the peaks of all pre-orders?

Surprised that 'Ayo' is doing so well on pre-orders. For someone so apparently unpopular, Chris Brown's music still does remarkably well

Well it's similar sounding to Loyal and besides he's been successful pretty much his whole career... I suppose by 'unpopular' you mean pretty much only on Buzzjack?

Chris Brown is just divisive, like most musicians. He's just an inflated example.

Big Sean & E-40 have climbed a ton today for some reason! Up to #39 Needs to go top 40 even though Radio 1 probably won't be able to play it on the chart show due to (nearly literally) every second word being either 'fuck' or 'bitch'

Not just Buzzjack, but the printed media as a whole! On the other hand, he's one of the most popular artists amongst my friends.
Personally, the personality of an artist doesn't affect how much I like their music anyway. If the tunes good they can do what they like in their personal life tbh.

But yeah it would be hilarious if went top 40.

It'll be quite hilarious if it gets any higher than #73 (thus making a song of Big Sean shouting obscenities at Naya Rivera chart higher than a collaboration between the two).

I agree with this. If you're into rap music (which I am) odds are Chris Brown is one your rap artists. And yes, I also agree with your second part. The number of dislikes on Tulisa's videos!

There's still a lot of stigma with UK urban artists. When they were dominating in the early 2010s, people were writing them off as "chavs". At my sixth form, it was the norm to listen to Mumford and Sons or Adele and I was called a chav because I listen to lots of hip hop, R&B and grime

Posted by: Dobbo Jan 29 2015, 10:28 PM
It seems a near certainty now only 6k behind today (with 3 more days sales) & massive streaming advantage (+ weekend effect) all in Hozier's favour. Still a great result Fergie all things considered. The real test will be to see how long it sticks around.

I seem to be one of a select few who agree with this. so so overrated but with its airplay peaking now (#5 from last week's #13, could possibly climb even further too) it's to be expected that it's still doing so well

Fair enough if people don't like it for whatever reason but I completely fail to understand how 'Take Me To Church' can be described as 'dull' given its lyrics and the passion in its vocals.
plz learn new negative adjectives, thx.

'Take Me To Church' is still great and just so many leagues above 'L.A.LOVE (la la)', really hope it does pip Fergie to the #2 spot (I think it will pretty easily).

the lyrics are quite good but unfortunately his off-putting vocals and to a lesser extent the slow tempo ruin it for me.

I like both Take Me To Church and L.A.LOVE (la la) but I think I'd rather the former got to #2 this week, Fergie being #2 or #3 won't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but it would be phenomenal to see Take Me To Church gain yet another new peak this far into its chart run!
Posted by: ► ▲ N Jan 29 2015, 10:47 PM
wouldn't it be slightly more impressive if he climbed to #2 next week though? and looking at the release schedule it seems very likely that he'll be #2, unless Ellie Goulding rush releases (which probably won't happen)
Posted by: mr_aly Jan 29 2015, 10:49 PM
Hozier would probably get #2 next week if it doesn't this week anyway. I can't say I'm fond of it, but there are worse offenders.

804 Charli XCX Doing It (feat. Rita Ora)
With just over a week to go, this isn't taking off the way I'd hoped. By the time her management had sorted out the mess of the pre-order situation, the airplay from Kiss and Capital has died off (presumably because they just saw that the Pre-order was doing nothing and hadn't realised they'd priced it wrong) I'm hoping it can at least outdo 'Break The Rules' though.
Posted by: ¡bré! Jan 30 2015, 01:56 PM
Well that is a good move from Ellie, she'll probably pick up a few weeks at #1 now (4+ again?) so we'll start off the year with a couple of long runners. Mainly down to there being piss all major releases although of course 'Uptown Funk' had sustained massive sales and I expect 'Love Me Like You Do' could as well. I'll be happy to see Ellie getting another #1 although I'm not a huge fan of the song yet, hoping it is a big grower.

Shame to see Charli lacking pre's momentum, but I do hope it does better than Flop The Rules And also another to 45s bring a fair distance ahead of #3 in pop bars. I really hope this isn't the 2015 All Of Me

It went to #1 on iTunes following the use on their version of "I'm A Celeb", so it definately had exposure, basically every song used goes to #1 on iTunes there

Interesting and brave decision from the record company, I don't think it'll be quite the massive walkover that others anticipate because "Uptown Funk" will keep a 20-25K advantage thanks to streaming (which will take a few weeks for Ellie to replicate if it is as big a hit) - plus its high pre-order position is very much boosted from the fact that sales are continuing to dwindle away. E.g. "Shake It Off" which frequently shows up at around #10 on iTunes is only selling ~1.5K/day.
She should debut at #1 though, and be in for a fairly lengthy run with total sales stabilising when streams catch-up with the initial pure sales boost.

Just noticed Axwell /\ Ingrosso Something New is under the AxwellIngrossoVEVO channel why is that? I know they both were part of Swedish House Mafia with Steve Angello but does this suggest that they are going to regularly make music together rather than just a one off? It's like it's still SHM but Steve Angello left
Axwell Λ Ingrosso is a permanent duo. And yes it is essentially a continuation of SHM except without Steve Angello.
Dappy's pre-order slaying the top 150! Quite surprising he still has such a fanbase TBH. When is that N-Dubz reunion happening ~

I was looking on Wikipedia for a possibility of this but couldn't find anything. I always assumed all three artists broke up as a joint decision to do their own work...

Haven't listened to it yet but quite a big Dappy fan and hope it does well in the chart!

Axwell Λ Ingrosso are going to do an album together, so this won't be the only song they do together (actually Something New is their 3rd collaboration under the name Axwell Λ Ingrosso but the other 2 were not given a commercial push)

This is even linked in the opening paragraph of the SHM article.
Damn I looked on both artist's individual articles and looked the last biography paragraph of SHM's article

QUOTE(Doctor Blind @ Jan 30 2015, 04:52 PM)
The thing with this song which most songs don't have to their advantage is that it's already #9 in the worldwide streaming chart on Spotify, which is the reason Firestone, Cheerleader etc are doing well on streaming, a lot of people just play songs they see on the worldwide top 100 list - so I imagine it'll be able to catch up to Uptown Funk much quicker (perhaps Blame-like speed) than your average one week #1 wonder.

I know.. It won't be even close in my opinion... LMLYD will be super huge and maybe her biggest hit.. I just want to know if it's up for streaming or not...
You make a good point tho, streaming will be very important from week 2 onwards!

That Calvin tune with HAIM is so generic, hope its low top 10 at most. The Tinashe collab would have been a better choice
Posted by: Dobbo Jan 31 2015, 02:07 PM
In total agreement. One of the weakest tracks on the album, every time I've given it a listen I've forgotten how it goes within 10 minutes.
Dollar Signs would be brilliant, it would give Tinashe a potential breakthrough here too!

259. Flo Rida - GDFR (feat. Sage the Gemini & Lookas) [PRE-ORDER]
out on March 8, will likely be a huge #1 i'm guessing
on the other hand, brilliant to see Years & Years slaying the top 200 already! 'King' should hopefully be their big breakthrough by the looks of things <3

finally Omi making some impact on iTunes! you'd think it'd be a bit higher considering it's top 40 on spotify but its airplay hasn't started yet
Outlines seems to be doing well now just before release would love it to go top 10 but it'll probably settle for top 20 which is also good
Posted by: ¡bré! Jan 31 2015, 05:52 PM
'Cheerleader' seems to be doing a 'The Days' so far. But then there's still ages until its release so I imagine it'll pick up.
I had forgotten that Mike Mago/Dragonette song existed, very surprised it's that high - looks like a potential top 10 for next week then. I heard it once ages ago as a prospective BJSC entry (which got vetoed unsurprisingly ~) and don't recall it being anything too special. Come to think of it I haven't really liked many of the new hits this year so far. Is this the year I become a chart music hater? (Probably not, there haven't exactly been MANY new hits yet).
Posted by: ► ▲ N Jan 31 2015, 06:11 PM
the chart seems to be not as good now as it used to be, but that's mostly down to a lot of songs overstaying their welcome (hi male singer songwriter trinity)
nearly half the songs in my personal chart are songs that have charted or will chart though so I won't call myself a chart music hater

Yeah, the charts move way too slowly atm, but the songs that are chart hits have mostly been pretty good the past couple of years.
I think we might be seeing more Ed Sheeran-type artists in the near future tbh as record labels will be wanting to make money and will see his success. Kind of like how after Amy Winehouse got successful you got Duffy, Adele, Estelle being big.

Yeah, I'm a MASSIVE Calvin fan and have a few HAIM tracks but haven't really got into this yet. Saying that, I wasn't too keen on Outside at first but now look at it, top 20 in my 2014 EOY and 5 bi-weeks atop my personal chart!

Gravity seems to be aiming for a high new entry. But as for #1 I'm unsure. Especially with Funk and Ellie knocking about. I'd suggest an unlucky #3 Outlines looking like a top 10 hit and King's a pretty cool track. I prefer it to Desire which is OK but Sunlight is still my fave Y&Y track so far
Hoping Ayo goes higher towards release. Also hope Bakermat does well and Doing It does at least top 20 I think Albatraoz is one of those tracks which rely on sales date rather than pre's. I don't know what The Fox, #SELFIE or PSY did on pre's If only Something New's official release was the Robin Schulz remix. Like with If I Lose Myself and Summertime Sadness? Plus the huge success Schulz does anyway would've helped boost it (which is fully deserved )

I don't think any of those songs did anything on pre-orders or indeed were even up for them. They were available to buy on iTunes already and only entered the charts when their videos took off. I don't see I'm an Albatraoz doing anywhere near as well anyway, I for one don't even find it funny. The others were at least interesting, though #SELFIE is absolutely awful.

Why do you type like this seriously? And don't give the 'it's because I type on mobile' excuse because 'Calvin' would have sufficed here. Can you please stop doing this and take the extra second or so to actually type words out correctly because it just makes your posts difficult to read half the time. I'm pretty sure this forum even has rules against using 'txt spk' which is essentially what this is.

Well the video is slowly getting views (about 1-2m per day) but perhaps being able to pre-order it will help it to reach hopefully the top 30

398 Charli XCX Doing It (feat. Rita Ora) - quite confident this will go top ten now. As long as it's top 150 by this time next week which shouldn't be difficult with another week on the playlist.

That Flo Rida song is dreadful! So disappointed as I've been quite a fan of some of his past stuff. He seems to really deliver or ultimately fail for me.
