As the year is now coming to a close it feels an appropriate time to unleash what I hope is the first of many Buzzjack related awards for this forum. Works in a style that is quite simply the same as the Brits/Grammys etc.

All you need to do is PM me the artists of your choice in the following categories. You may nominate a total of THREE bands/songs/albums etc for each with the exception of the outstanding contribution award for which you may nominate FIVE as we have around 50 years worth of acts to pick from. The lone winners for each award will be announced in the new year. However there will be FIVE inaugural entries for Outstanding Contribution as one simply wouldn't be fair.

Criteria for eligibility is simply that bands must have been active during 2011. For example, singles/albums must have been released during that calender year and they must have performed live in 2011 to be eligible for best live act. Also I ask that you stick to the forum title for nominations - there's no point in nominating The Saturdays for example as they clearly don't fit the criteria. Having said that there is always some crossover between Indie and Rock so I will not be overly strict on this and expect voters to exercise common sense

Feel free to use this thread for discussion and recommendations on the years events and acts as it may well give those who are unsure what to nominate ideas and more importtantly spread the music.

Once I have decided on my Nominations I will PM them to CHARLIE? so as there will be no accusations of cheating. I will do this before Dec 11th

The following categories will be used... (Nominate 3 for each)

Best British Band
Best International Band
Best Live Act
Best Debut Album
Best Single
Best Album (no compliations)
Best Video
Best Male Vocal
Best Female Vocal
Best Band
Brightest Hope For 2012
Most Sadly Missed (AKA The R.I.P. Award)

And...

Outstanding Contribution (nominate FIVE).

Once again PM ME (Severin) and nominations must be in by 00:00am 1st January

I doubt it too but they could still win best live act and I guess the album was liked by someone

I'm guessing the Outstanding Contribution doesn't have to have been active this year?

Good point. I don't think I made that clear. No they don't have to have done anything this year

Just go for the guy/girl you think has done the best vocal this year. They can be solo or in a band and needn't be the lead singerif you think someone has done a particularly good guest/backing vocal. it's basically about the individual performance

Do you have to nominate on all categories? I can only pick a few.

You can nominate in as many or as few as you wish and it doesn't have to be three for each but I would think you must be able to come up with something for most if not all

Bumping this as time is running out and I'd really appeciate a few more nominations. Doesn't necessarily have to be three or in every category but something from a few more would be great. Or perhaps this should have been done as a serious of polls?

How many people have PMed you? I could always make the polls if it's not many and you give me the nominations list.

Other than my own I have two sets of nominations. Seems to be a bit of apathy unfortunately. I'll hold off on anything else yet just in case people have missed it or are stilld deciding. If I need any help with the polls I'll let you kow but should be ok. Thanks

OK well the cut off time has arrived and despite a low contribution level (special thanks to those that made the effort) the results are in and because of the low turnout we have a few ties.

These will be decided by a poll running for approximately one week only. If still tied after one week they will be awarded jointly. The cut off is at 00:00 on the 8th Jan.
