I coulda sworn there was a topic for this, but I guess not? (But the search function on here is a disaster drama.gif)

A movie that got affected by Coronavirus so there was no longer a theatrical release date issued, but Disney have decided to make it available on Disney+ today, instead. I'm off to go watch it, but I don't know what to expect. I'll be happy with something better than 'A Wrinkle In Time' though...

It's ABSOLUTELY not for adults. Sure some may find enjoyment in it SOMEWHERE, but ultimately this is a kids sci-fi adventure film, through and through and it doesn't try to be anything else.

Stunning visuals though and the other worlds are gorgeous. It'd be better if the story was less hollow and had more to it.

My nieces and nephews will love this.

I’m gonna watch it anyway because I was a fan of the books. Whether that will make it good or not...

I'll give it a go, but the critics haven't been kind! 11% on Rotten Tomatoes currently.

I really enjoyed the books as a kid and I loved reading the first one to my class a couple of years ago, but from the trailer, I really don't think they've stuck to the plot of the books at all.

Think I'll give this a miss, otherwise it'll just make me angry laugh.gif

Apparently they haven't stayed faithful to the books, at ALL! laugh.gif

So if you're a fan of the books, it's probably best to avoid! Aha.

Yeah, they managed to not understand the books whilst making this. They’ve sort of used all the source material from the whole series to make the one film they want to rather than just sticking to the actual story.

And after this and Cats, what is Dame Judi doing?

I IMDB'd this after watching the trailer. It's even worse than I feared.

The whole point of the books was that Artemis was an independent kid. So what does the adaptation do? Makes it a family action movie like the Incredibles sleep.gif

This was such a boring watch. I loved the books but my goodness, this was dire.

It's amusing how slated this is getting, I think how much they cared about this was pretty clear when they just dumped it on Disney+, I doubt we'll hear from it again.

A book series like this would've naturally worked better as a TV adaptation, don't understand why they didn't consider this.
