That part with the screaming gophers in the video is actually really quite unsettling. I don't get it.

Lol. You know that is actual brainwashing then? As your brain releases more endorphins the more familiar you are with a track. If at first you are repulsed, that is your REAL opinion. Wanting to like it + endorphins = brainwashed "liking". It's why they pay for singers to be blasted over radio again and aaaagain and agaaain and put on all the playlists.

.........

Yes it is true that familiarity with a song makes you like it more (in general) but there are many many factors that affect that, and "brainwashing" is a ridiculously sensationalist way to put it laugh.gif If it was "brainwashing" then *everyone* would be some brainless army of loving every song on the radio like some weird cartoon subplot, and that isn't the case. Besides, if I do just start to like a song through a few listens, I'd rather like it, whether I've been ""brainwashed""" or not, rather than harp on about it laugh.gif

Also familiarity can breed ambivalence, because you might have a lot of conflicting information and opinions to process, in this case about the artist and their other work, your initial feelings of the song, it's very complex and not as simple as poor dumb people without their own taste in music being sheep because they want to like the new Ariana Grande song like everyone else rolleyes.gif

I didn't like Drag Race at first but that wasn't my real opinion.

This song is such a grower. I was a bit underwhelmed on first listen but it is a TUNE. Apart from 'The Light Is Coming' which is trash, I've really enjoyed everything from this era so far.

3/3 for me but this is by far my favourite. The buildup to the chorus is divine 🤤

Michael, is the concept of a song growing on somebody completely alien to you? For goodness sake, you're even worse than Trump. drama.gif

I love this more & more each time I listen to it (look at me, I've been brainwashed...)

The video is spectacular too, by far one of the best I've seen this year I think. I love the gophers (? no one actually seems to know what these things are which is quite funny) and reminded me of this

Also Madonna imitating God reciting a verse from the bible made famous by Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction will probably be one of the most iconic moments of the year

No, it's clearly brainwashing.

Tastes and opinions aren't able to adapt or change.

Amazing song and video once again! This era has been such a triumph for her already. All three songs are 10/10 for me <3

To be fair I really like the song now and am glad it looks to be another big hit. My one minor issue with is that I wish there was something to build up to the choir at the end, it comes in so quick it feels like an afterthought. I'd have loved a moment of silence before it came crashing in for example.
