Votes were received from 49 posters and better late than never, it's time to start counting down the results. biggrin.gif

21 220 Matt Terry - When Christmas Comes Around

20 260 James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go

Right at the bottom we find two acts with something in common, both being male X Factor winners (and Lol at them both having black & white screengrabs). In last is current champion Matt Terry with his winning single "When Christmas Comes Around", a #1 on sales. After the failure of "Forever Young" last year, The X Factor went for a different approach by giving Matt an original song, and a Christmas one written by Ed Sheeran at that. It's pretty decent in my opinion, but not overly exciting and being a Christmas song probably held it back from picking up loads of massive scores too.

Just ahead is 2012 champ James Arthur with his unexpectedly huge comeback single "Say You Won't Let Go", another that could easily be Ed Sheeran. Again, I don't think this is particularly offensive but a bit too 'just there'. It was nice watching this blow up initially though, with James Arthur having success again being something that no one saw coming and now it's also making good progress on the other side of the pond.

They are both great songs. Buzzjack have no taste and I'm not surprised.

Two screencaps with a colour scheme to match the dull nature of the songs. Glad to see James crashing out so early, bye, please go back to irrelevance.

19 320 Calum Scott - Dancing On My Own

18 600 Jonas Blue feat. Dakota - Fast Car

From two X Factor winners to two cover versions. The first is a cover of Robyn, by 2015 Britain's Got Talent contestant Calum Scott. Now I don't even love the original, I find both it and Robyn to be very overrated around here (you'd never find that as low as this in Record of the Decade results), but it felt like a sad state of affairs just how much more successful this dull cover was, sticking around for FAR too long. Seven people awarded it a score of -10, three of them before it picked up any positive scores!

Ahead of Calum is the first of two Jonas Blue songs to feature in the results, this one being a tropical house cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car". Once again, I'm not that bothered by the original or the cover tongue.gif Thankfully though, producer Jonas Blue is improving with each release (as reflected by "Perfect Strangers" being further up!)

Sorry Pete.

17 650 Lukas Graham - 7 Years

16 760 Rag'n'Bone Man - Human

Here we have the final two songs to fail to pass 1000 points, making a nice round 15 that did make the mark. In 17th we have Danish band Lukas Graham and the worldwide smash "7 Years". This garnered a lot of vocal hate on Buzzjack from the moment it started blowing up so it's no shock at where it's ended up here. A shame as I absolutely adore it and the storytelling nature of the lyrics, my 3rd favourite #1 of last year.

Above Lukas Graham is Brits Critics' Choice Award 2017 winner and BBC 'Sound Of...' runner-up Rag'n'Bone Man with his current hit "Human", the Christmas #1 based on sales. A performance by Emily Middlemas on The X Factor helped this take off. Not a bad song really but I'm not really into it, I think it's his voice that puts me off.

7 Years cry.gif I really can't understand why so many people dislike it, its such a genuine song that never gets old!

Human is nice too!

Good bottom 4 to start us off, horrendously dull songs. Well, bottom 3, I can't really judge on Matt Terry as I've never heard it but I have no desire to based on the likelihood of me enjoying it being very low.

7 Years is quite a bit different from the others, I can see why people dislike it but I really don't think it deserves the hate it gets, he's a far more interesting singer than the others in here. As is Rag N Bone Man but then I've only heard that once.

7 Years is sappy. Not my thing at all. I suspect that's why people who dislike it do so.

15 1060 Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling

14 1070 DJ Snake feat. Justin Bieber - Let Me Love You

Starting off the top 15 is possibly the most feelgood single of last year, "Can't Stop The Feeling", taken from one of the best movies of 2016, "Trolls". JT released this months in advance of the movie, in time to get a historic slot during the Eurovision final, and maybe people got fed up with it? I would've expected it to finish slightly higher, I still love it, it's just so happy and I'm not even a huge Timberlake fan.

Finishing marginally ahead is the first of two Justin Bieber collabs that will be featuring in these results (what keeps happening - two X Factor winners in the bottom two, two covers in the results after that, now two Justin's in this post heehee.gif). I found this one more instant but over time I'm not sure if I prefer this or "Cold Water", that probably has more going for it. This was a sales #1 but officially JB ended up blocking himself.

Let Me Love You is definitely too low but the JT song is one I've really grown to hate, the most overplayed song of the year surely?
