21st – 27th August: Despacito holds for a 19th week, but was almost denied number one from Justin Bieber & Bloodpop's Friends, which was released last Friday, and climbs 10 to number (2). However, the song is unlikely to get a 20th week at the top spot, due to the release of Taylor Swift's new single, Look What You Made Me Do, which opens at (12) after only 3 days on sale. This will most likely climb to number one with a full week of sales. There are 3 other new entries this week; 30 Seconds To Mars, have a new single, which debuts at (29), Portugal. The Man's Feel It Still climbs 8 to enter at (34) and Camilla Cabelo's Havana re-enters the top 50 at a new peak of (38). There are new peaks for Dua Lipa's New Rules (11), Macklemore's Glorious (26) and CNCO's Reggaeton Lento (27). Danny Ocean's Me Rehuso (HP: 38, 2 weeks), Maluma's Felices Los 4 (HP: 33, 2 + 4 + 7 weeks), Kendrick Lamar's HUMBLE. (HP: 4, 21 weeks) and Kygo & Selena Gomez's It Ain't Me (HP: 3, 27 weeks) leave the top 40.

28th August – 3rd September: After one of the most interesting weeks for this chart in a year, Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do vaults 11 to call an end to Despacito's unprecedented 19 weeks at number one, and with the release of her new single ...Ready For It? she could be able to overthrow herself. Elsewhere, the charts had quite a bit of movement. There are 3 new entries, from Maroon 5 at (22), Logic's 1-800-273-8255, a song initially released in April but has become re-popularized due to the music video, enters at (28), and Khalid has his top 40 debut with Young, Dumb & Broke at (36). There also 3 re-entries as well, from Katy Perry at (29), with Swish Swish after the music videos release, Kendrick Lamar's HUMBLE. up 11 to (33) (possibly due to a live performance at the VMA's) and Lil Uzi Vert's XO TOUR Llif3, which climbs back into the top 40 to a new peak of (34) due to the album release. The song has only spent one other week in the top 40 back in June, yet has spent an incredible 19 weeks in the top 50. There are also new peaks for Axwell & Ingrosso's More Than You Know (15), Macklemore's Glorious (25), Camilla Cabelo's Havana (27) and Marshmello's Silence (32). 30 Seconds To Mars' Walk On Water (HP: 29, 1 week) CNCO & Little ix's Reggaeton Lento (HP: 27, 2 weeks) Kesha's Praying (HP: 35, 1 + 3 weeks) Selena Gomez's Fetish (HP: 15, 7 weeks) Clean Bandit's Symphony (HP: 6, 23 weeks) and Ed Sheeran's Galway Girl (HP: 11, 26 weeks) leave the top 40.

10th – 16th September: In a very tightly contested top 3, Taylor Swift just about holds onto the number 1 spot, but has only 2,000 more "sales" than Sam Smith's Too Good At Goodbyes, which climbs to number (2) after it's first full week of sale. Despacito falls to number (4) and Taylor Swift's ...Ready For It? falls straight out of the top 3 to number (18). Basically, if you told me this time last year that Post Malone of all people would have had a top 3 international hit, I would have laughed so hard I probably would have died. But here we are, as he somehow has the 3rd best selling song of the week. The other new entries from Niall Horan's Too Much To Ask at (17) and BTS (surprisingly) at (22) with DNA. New peaks from Havana, Silence, Feel It Still & Bodak Yellow. Swish Swish (5 total weeks) and Sign Of The Times (HP: 4, 24 weeks) drop out of top 40. XO TOUR Llif3 leaves the top 50 after 21 weeks in the top 50

24th – 30th September: In probably the most interesting week this chart has had, the impossible happened. Post Malone, POST MALONE(!!!) has secured a number one on this chart. It's one of only five number ones this year. It managed this mostly by streaming, where it almost out-streamed it's nearest competitor 2:1. However, it is unlikely to last, for there is a new version of Mi Gente out featuring Beyonce. The song was only released on Friday, but has already made an impact, pushing J Balvin & Willy William's song up three to a new peaks at (2). This pushes last weeks closest competitor to number one, Sam Smith's Too Good At Goodbyes down a spot to (3), whilst the hype around Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do seems to be dying, and the song drops 3 to (4). There are also small climbs and drops for other songs in the top 10 due to features in advertisements, changes in season and other reasons. The 3 new entries this week don't chart very highly. The highest is Macklemore's Good Old Days with Kesha which debuts (29) shortly followed by Kygo's new single Stargazing at (31). Finally, DJ Snake is back at (37) alongside Lauv with A Different Way. There is however a huge re-entry from Ed Sheeran, who made Perfect the new single from Divide, despite initially peaking at (8) back in March. The song bounds 26 to (15). There are new peaks for Camila Cabello's Havana (11), Marshmello's Silence (19) (both of which have reached new peaks for the past 5 consecutive weeks), Portugal. The Man's Feel It Still (21), Cardi B's Bodak Yellow (27) and Khalid's Young Dumb & Broke (34). BTS' DNA (HP: 22, 1 week) Niall Horan's Too Much To Ask (HP: 17, 1 week) U2's Best Thing About Me (HP: 24, 3 weeks) and David Guetta's 2U (HP: 2, 16 weeks) fall out of the top 40

1st – 7th October: I predicted last week that J Blavin & Willy William would overthrow Post Malone this week. I was wrong. rockstar's sales have vastly increased, preventing Mi Gente, boosted by a charity version with Beyonce, getting to number one. Whether it'll last, I don't know. Camila Cabello's Havana, which has been reaching new peaks for the past 7 weeks, climbs six into the top 10 to (5) and Ed Sheeran's Perfect makes the top 10 at (9). The song initially peaked at (8) back in March when Divide was release, but has been re-released as a single. There's only one new entry this week, which comes from Pink's next album Beautiful Trauma, which debuts at (37), but there are 3 re-entries. The biggest comes from Kendrick Lamar's HUMBLE. which has been pushed back to the top 40 (35) by a remix from Skrillix. The others return without much of a reason; Robin Schulz's OK jumps 11 to (39) (for some reason...) and Little Mix & CNCO's Reggaeton Lento climbs 2 to (40). Aside from Havana, there are also new peaks for Marshmello's Silence (19) Portugal. The Man's Feel It Still (20), Khalid's Young Dumb & Broke (29) and Lauv's I Like It Better (32). DJ Snake's A Different Way (HP: 38, 1 week) Macklemore & Kesha's Good Old Days (HP: 30, 1 week) Rita Ora's Your Song (HP: 18, 18 weeks) and Niall Horan's Slow Hands (HP: 18, 22 weeks) have the left the top 40.

15th – 21st October: Post Malone is number one for a 4th week, increasing it's sales yet again. It's taken a while, but it looks like it has enough itunes sales to keep it strongly out in front. Big changes are occurring just below it though; at number (2), rising 2 is Camila Cabello's Havana, a song that has reached a new peak every week since it entered the top 40 at the end of August. Behind, up 3 to (3), is Ed Sheeran's Perfect, which claims number one on iTunes this week. It's been a pretty big week for P!nk this week, who released her album Beautiful Trauma last Friday, which has lead What About Us to reach a new peak of (6) after 11 full weeks of charting, as well as her talked about collaboration with Eminem, Revenge debuting at (35) and the single Beautiful Trauma re-entering at (45). Maroon 5's What Lovers do with SZA reaches a new peak of 9. The days of rockstar might be numbered though, for Taylor Swift has a new song out called Gorgeous, which was only released 2 days ago, but it just makes the cut at number (40). Also Niall Horan's Too Much To Ask re-enters after the release of his album ((30)). There are also new peaks for Portugal. The Man's Feel It Still (14), Marshmello's Silence (15), Khalid's Young Dumb & Broke (20), Mackelmore's Glorious (23) and Post Malone's I Fall Apart (34) reached new peaks this week. Two former One Direction members, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, leave the top 40 with their singles Back to You (HP: 18, 13 weeks) and Strip That Down (HP: 12, 22 weeks).

22nd – 28th October: (I apologize for the delay, I was on holiday in Vietnam) It looks like rockstar's sales peaked last week, as Post Malone & 21 Savage see their first drop in sales. This means that competition from Camila Cabello & Young Thug's Havana at (2), which seemed far off from challenging rockstar, could overtake it as it has a large sales increase at (2). There's not much notable change in the top 10 aside from Dua Lipa's New Rules, which leaps 3 to a new peak of (5); it hasn't even had that much of a boost, it's just been keeping consistent sales over the past few weeks. Taylor Swift's popularity seems to be diminishing more and more, as her new single Gorgeous, which made the top 40 on 2 days of sale last week, fails to make the top 10, climbing 29 to (11). She does however re-enter the top 40 at (36), with ...Ready For It, which re-enters from the music video release. There are only 2 new entries in the top 40; the highest is Selena Gomez & Marshmello's Wolves at (14), whilst Liam Payne's Bedroom Floor performs quite poorly at (40). There are an extra 4 new entries in the top 50, but those will be discussed later. Aside from Dua and Taylor, there are new peaks for Marshmello's other single with Khalid, Silence (13) and Post Malone's other single I Fall Apart (30). P!nk's Revenge (HP: 35, 1 week) Jonas Blue's Mama (HP: 11, 24 weeks) and DJ Khaled's Wild Thoughts (HP: 2, 19 weeks) leave the top 40.

29th October – 4th November: There's been a big surprise at the top spot; Camila Cabello's Havana, which I thought needed two or so more weeks to achieve this feat, has managed to replace Post Malone's rockstar to become the 6th number one on this chart this year, alongside Starboy, Shape Of You, Despacito, Look What You Made Me Do and rockstar. Sheeran holds at (3), but number (4) comes from Selena Gomez & Marshmello's Wolves, released mid week last week, which jumps up 13 places. There are 4 new entries this week in the top 40, 8 in the top 50. The highest two are from the Bubbling Under Chart; Lil Pump's Gucci Gang has somehow managed to get traction, climbing 13 to (28), whilst christian rapper NF jumps 10 to (34). After a successful 2016, Alan Walker has seemed to struggle this year, as his collaboration with Noah Cyrus & Digital Farm Animals debuts at (38), and finally, Sam Smith has a new entry at (40), from his new album The Thrill Of It All, Burning. Aside from Selena and Camila, there are new peaks for Marshmello's other single Silence (11), Charlie Puth's How Long (16), Khalid's Young Dumb & Broke (19), Kygo's Stargazing (28) and Post Malone's I Fall Apart (27). Liam Payne's Bedroom Floor (HP: 40, 1 week) Niall Horan's Too Much To Ask (HP: 17, 1 + 2 weeks) Avicii's Without You (HP: 11, 12 weeks) and Shawn Mendes' There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back (HP: 7, 28 weeks) have left the top 40.

5th – 11th November: After only just making it at no.1, Camila Cabello's Havana makes it clearer that it's at the top of the chart this week, as Post Malone halts at (2). A few album drops have had slight impacts on the chart; Sam Smith's Too Good At Goodbyes returns to (4) after the release of "The Thrill Of It All", and Pray re-enters at (43). The release of Maroon 5's Red Pill Blues has caused their lead song What Lovers Do to jump 4 up to (5) reaching a new peak. After 11 consecutive weeks of climbing the top 40, Marshmello's Silence has finally broke the top 10 this week at (10), but with it's sales increase plateauing, it might not last their for long. The highest new entry to the top 40 comes from Taylor Swift's 4th and final promotional single, Call It What You Want, which surges 32 places to (17). Also from last weeks bubbling under, N*E*R*D* & Rihanna's Lemon, looks to become the groups biggest single to date, climbing 19 to a new peak of (26). Brand new at (27) is an "all-star" crew of David Guetta, Afrojack, Charli XCX & French Montana's Dirty Sexy Money. Imagine Dragons now have 3 songs in the top 40, as Whatever It Takes, initially released as a promotional single back in May, was re-released as a single in October, and is now at (35). Eminem's hotly anticipated single with Beyonce just makes the top 50 after only 2 days on release. It seems that memes are having a bit of an impact on the chart; Lil Pump Gucci Gang has defied expectation and has somehow climbed to a new peak of (21), and Big Shaq's Man's Not Hot, has managed to bustle it's way into the top 40 at (40). Aside from Lil Pump, Marshmello & Maroon 5, there are also new peeks for Portugal. The Man's Feel It Still (13), Kygo's Stargazing (23) and NF's Let You Down (25). Sam Smiths Burning (HP: 40, 1 week), Alan Walker's All Falls Down (HP: 38, 1 week) Cardi B's Bodak Yellow (HP: 27, 8 weeks) Lauv's I Like Me Better (HP: 32, 8 weeks) and Macklemore's Glorious (HP: 23, 14 weeks)

12th – 18th November: The addition of a "remix" with Daddy Yankee only furthers the lead of Camila Cabello's Havana, as it breaks the 300,000 sales mark, which was last broken by Despacito in the first week of August. The top 10 is mostly static, with the exception of Eminem & Beyonce's huge new single Walk On Water climbing 42 to (8). There are 3 other new entries; Rita ora's Anywhere has broken in at (36), Jason Derulo has a new single at (38) called Tip Toe, and Haille Steinfeld & Alesso's Let Me Go makes the top 40 at (40) after a total of 6 weeks in the bubbling under chart. There are new peaks for Charlie Puth's How Long (15), Lil Pump's Gucci Gang (15), NF's Let You Down (22), Post Malone's I Fall Apart (26), Avicii's Lonely Together (28), Imagine Dragons' Whatever It Takes (30) & Big Shaq's Man's Not Hot (33). Lauv's I Like Me Better re-enters at (37). Despite the release of Taylor Swift's Reputation, her team decided to not release the singles for download one week after the album drop. This means, that there's been little positive effect of her songs on the chart, with Call It What You Want bombing straight out after only 1 week in the top 40 and Gorgeous leaving after peaking at (11) and spending 4 weeks in the top 40. There's also departures for N*E*R*D* & Rihanna's Lemon (HP: 26, 1 week), David Guetta & Afrojack's Dirty Sexy Money (HP: 27, 1 week) and Demi Lovato's Sorry Not Sorry (HP: 16, 18 weeks)

19th – 25th November: Havana continues on top for a 4th week, and after 9 weeks, Post Malone's rockstar is finally overthrown from being the most streamed song of the week. There is a high new entry this week at (5) with Echame La Culpa by Luis Fonsi & Demi Lovato, which becomes the 3rd song to make the top 10 on this chart ever to use non-English phrases (4 if you count Rihanna's Work). Surprisingly, it marks the only new entry in the top 40. Taylor Swift's ferusal to allow Reputation, and the fact that people just aren't interested in the singles has meant that no new songs of hers have made the top 50. The only new song, End Game featuring Ed Sheeran & Future, enters at number (10) on the bubbling under chart. It might only be November, but Christmas songs are already making their appearance, with All I Want For Christmas re-entering at (35), which is a week earlier than expected. There are new peaks for Portugal. The Man's Feel It Still (12), Lil Pump's Gucci Gang (17), NF's Let You Down (20), Post Malone's I Fall Apart (23), Rita Ora's Anywhere (27), Imagine Dragons' Whatever It Takes (29) and Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso's Let Me Go (31). Jason Derulo's Tip Toe (HP: 38, 1 week) and Axwell & Ingrosso's More Than You Know (HP: 15, 21 weeks) leave the top 40.

3rd – 9th December: Due to a full week of the duet out, the combination of the sales of Perfect crushes Despacito's original record to score the highest amount of sales in one week: 457,435! Also, Christmas seems to be coming early this year as Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas scales 8 places to (5). It's peak was (3) last year. Also, for some ungodly reason, Shape Of You has returned to the top 10 in it's 49th week on the chart. The highest new entry comes from G-Eazy & Halsey. I think it was hotly anticipated as they were both confirmed to be dating amongst it's release... There's also a brand new entry at (22) for Martin Garrix & David Guetta with So Far Away. Wham!'s Last Christmas returns to (21). It's previous peak was number (19) last year. There are new peaks for NF's Let You Down (14), Big Shaq's Man's Not Hot (26), Imagine Dragons' Whatever It Takes (28) Bebe Rexha's Meant To Be (29) and Clean Bandit's I Miss You (37). James Arthur's Naked (HP: 29, 1 week) BTS' MIC Drop (HP: 21, 1 week) and Avicii's Lonely Together (HP: 28, 8 weeks) left the top 40.
