After Universal spent more than they should have done on Clare Maguire (i.e. ridiculous amounts) about 2 years ago, her debut album is all done ready for release next year via Polydor. You can download 'Strangest Thing' from her website. Big voice, vaguely MoR, a facking ton of hype coming (she needs all she can get for how much she cost). Shoe-in for number 1 on the Sound of 2011 etc and all that. SHE'S OKAY IN MY BOOK. She's releasing some sort of proper "hype" single on 6th September, minor gigs et al to follow. Jake back to posting normally? Wonderful!
I don't really understand why anyone the point of investing tonnes in this woman? The whole point of these sorts of people is NOT investing in them and then selling them up as 'the real deal' etc., is it not? :/ |

And it's AMAZING You're Electric is good, but TLD will hopefully go top 10, and I can see this as a #1 album.

Listened to 'The Last Dance' a few weeks ago and loved it. Has a studio version leaked?
From live performances it sounds incredible. |

OH, I didn't realize this was put in Pop. I did a thread a day or 2 ago in Indie.
I personally love "You're Electric" SO MUCH and "Strangest Thing" is growing. I'm excited for the album! |

I think... I'm looking forward to this? I'm liking the few songs ATM.
Heard 'The Last Dance' on Radio 1 a while ago. Quite good I think. This post has been edited by FM11: 4th January 2011, 01:41 AM |

I think it sounded better when performed live!
It'll probably grow on me but I expecting more judging from performances. Prefer 'You're Electric' and 'Ain't Nobody' at the moment. |

I've loved Last Dance for a while now but good GOD it's grown proper over the last few days. So spectacularly 80s yet now at the same time, and Clare's vocal stylings are nothing short of glorious.
