They should push the album a week forward so it's not released at the same time as NOW 91. If not, it can kiss goodbye to the compilation chart top spot

I think the 70's album debuted at No.1 but you're right, this stands no chance against a regular Now album.
So what does anyone think may be voted in to the top 5 then? |

The album would have easily topped the compilation chart if it was released last Friday

I reckon it will be Billie Jean for the nations fave 80's no.1, not as easy to call this one as it was for the 70's

I think Careless Whisper will win it actually but Billie Jean will be high. Probably Human League and Soft Cell very high too. Am a bit surprised that Two Tribes is on the triple CD and not Relax. Apparently the CD contains the entire top 20. |

Really enjoying this, its my era growing up listening to New Romantics brings a lot of memories, wow at Pete Burns lips I reckon Frankie Goes To Hollywood is going to hold the title of the #1 track of the 80s.
I hope Especially For You now ends up as a million seller after this. |

Never expected the Police to take the #1 of the 80s, but its my all time favourite #1, so I take that and my favourite band of the 80s I grew up listening to their music, and I own every single and album of theirs. The Six Pack Blue Vinyl collection which I own must be worth something by now, as it was a limited edition. Funny enough Tainted Love and Don't You Want Me, are in my all time top 3 #1s of all time and both were featured in the top 10, shame West End Girls missed on a top 10 finish though, China In Your Hands completes my top 5 #1s of the 80s..

Very surprised at Police being No.1. Careless Whisper not even in the top 20! Into The Groove was No.19 but isn't on the triple cd.

Great show last night, gotta agree I love The Police record but not overall best for me, Human League were the best by far, Pet Shop Boys a close second. Surprised there was no mention whatsoever of Eurythmics. 'There Must Be an Angel' is one of my most favourite 80s number ones and it still gets regular airplay.

Was 'Like A Prayer' not featured?
If not, the list is void! This post has been edited by dandystar: 26th July 2015, 12:40 PM |

these sort of shows tend to decide on the tracks, so all you vote on is the order - especially if it's essentially a huge plug for a cd.

I've never seen details of where you can vote. Don't know why we bothered watching it as there were some glaring omissions (Two Tribes but no Relax?), a very poor number one and, worst of all, because they were so desperate to push the completely pointless CD which is just a rehash of other much better compilations, they completely gave away what was coming up in the top 10 during the effing ad breaks.
To make matters worse, there was a big band prom on BBC4 and Latitude highlights on Sky Arts. Grrrrrr. |

I mean who can seriously think that Especially For You is one of the Top 20 best No.1's of the 80's? It's an okay balled but there are better. Take My Breath Away for example. I Just Called To Say I Love You is even better than that!
When I think that Careless Whisper used to always be top 5 in Capital FM all time greats poll, often being No.1 and it's not even Top 20 here! This post has been edited by Common Sense: 27th July 2015, 05:10 PM |
