The thing is that it was obvious to almost everyone but the girls and their management that Sugababes wouldn't survive another line-up change. It was just one too many. That Jade couldn't recognize this surprises me, but at the same time she probably got blinded by the whole "biggest girl group of the decade" claims and the promises of hot US producers.

But I can't feel bad for her. If she had really thought it through she would've turned it down. It was always insane of her to join the group.

The problem is, we can't trust 100% anyone, because as it is pointed out, even the girls comments on interviews can be a made up story by the management.

Keisha said she was called by the management to their office and they told her she wasn't part of the group anymore. But I don't remember wether they specified Heidi and Amelle would be carrying on instead or not.
QUOTE

I always thought that if Amelle had left that Mutya would've come back. Glad to read this is not true (if it's reliable) because the missed opportunities with that one would've been IMMENSE.
Actually, what it says is that Mutya rejected the idea when Heidi opposed to it, and she didn't want to deal with that. But she was willing to rejoin the band...and Keisha has confirmed this.

It's a surprise for me, as Heidi said the reason why she was/is annoyed with Mutya is because she left without telling her... which doesn't sound like a big enough reason to be contrary to the 2.0 reunion. I tend to think her issue was that she didn't want Amelle to leave, so yes, Heidi getting on her side was an essential part of the story.

I hope Keisha and Mutya can clear up some of the details of this mess in future interviews. I also want to know what happened to the solo deal Keisha signed with Island.

QUOTE
I don't dislike her, but I have a hard time feeling bad for her. She's an oppourtunist whose plan for a quick surge to popstardom failed.

You sound a bit harsh, but in the end you're right: she went for the best opportunity she found (as anyone in the business) and she just failed. She wasn't dragged in and she knew it could go wrong. Her solo perspectives weren't good at all anyway, so I don't think she had much of a choice or if she has something to regret.

She wasn't in a great situation though because she would have always had the Eurovision tag on her, and we know the UK's general view on Eurovision. So maybe she thought joining the Sugababes would allow her to get rid of her being the 'Eurovision girl'. She's just tried to make the best out of a tricky situation. smile.gif

I might sound harsh, but going to Los Angeles in the week leading up to your single release, ignoring calls from your record label and getting holed up in a hotel room learning songs with the possibility replacing one of the Sugababes is hardly a career high, is it?

As I said, I don't hate or blame her really, but I can't feel sorry for her as there's artists with far more integrity launching every day that doesn't make it.

Holy Moly, how rude of them sending Keisha on that plane making her believe the band was over.

And I can't believe we have Heidi to "thank" for Mutya not replacing Amelle. And her reason is beyond stupid. She just confirmed she has no business sense at all. I still believe Heidi was afraid of the strong bond Keisha+Mutya had. So with Amelle in the group Heidi knew it'd be Heidi+Amelle against Keisha which suited her just fine.

I wonder how Keisha felt after Heidi said no to Mutya re-joining. Didn't they discuss things? Didn't she give proper reasons at least to her?

If I were Keisha I'd NEVER ever speak to Amelle or Heidi. From what we knew till now I had a bad opinion on these two for the way they treated Keisha but now I dislike them even more. mad.gif

And how stupid of Island not to bother to license the band's name!

I just read it all again. If Amelle left the week "she went missing", why was she in LA to shoot the AAG video? Or did they call her to come after they made Keisha leave for London and already decided to bring Jade in and continue with Amelle/Heidi/Jade?

In the end it all is reduced to Heidi choosing Amelle over Keisha and Mutya. I'm sure she knew the best 'business' decision was to reform the second lineup, but she preferred taking the risk of continuing the band with yet a new member.

But I can't say it was all a matter of feelings, as carrying on the band was a pure business decision. Having acting only following her heart, she would've just quit as Amelle and end up things for good. But no, they didn't want just end things. They wanted to continue working with the band, only without Keisha. And it was important to keep the name as it was the only thing it would give them important promo slots in the future, as T4 In The Beach, endorsements and deals with other labels.

If you think about it, it's obvious they wanted to get rid of Keisha (for whatever reason). Because Amelle wouldn't have stayed in the band if she was SO unhappy as they made out to be. She must had considered what side Heidi would take in case she forced her to choose.

I think I read somewhere Keisha regrets not having become closer with Heidi during the making of Taller In More Ways, when they both had to be in charge of the production because Mutya was taking care of her child. As I said, it all is reduced to Heidi choosing Amelle. There was nothing Keisha coudl've made, as Heidi was simply going to choose her friend anyway.

But do you really think that if Keisha had agreed to bring Jade into the group that Heidi would've had much choice? At the end of the day, Heidi didn't want Mutya in the group, Crown probably wouldn't want to work with her again and the feeling is probably quite mutual, so I'd say the main factor in Keisha being kicked out was the fact that she didn't want to replace Amelle or alternatively just have Mutya come back. I don't believe Heidi was the one who was actively pushing Keisha out - she was just the one who didn't make any demands and remained neutral.

I remember there were rumours going around a few weeks before the line-up drama happened that Amelle was being groomed for a solo career post-Sweet 7 a la Cheryl Cole. Now, that obviously didn't happen, but it makes you wonder if Amelle thought she could make an early exit and then Keisha was kicked out and Amelle just had to get on with it as to not break her contract?

Maybe this is old news but has anyone ever noticed that the Sugababes = Spice Girls? Sugar is a spice and babes = girls. I seriously never noticed, one of my friends mentioned it today. Mind = blown.

IIRC it's from a couple of days before Mutya walked. i.e. when she'd pissed off and management were insisting she was 'ill'

Wow. Can't believe it's been that long!

This album should have been so much better. The standard of the leaked demos tells us this.
