So we've got quite a few fans in this forum now and obviously the trend in recent years is for acts to release on limited coloured vinyl... sometimes I find they can be disappointing but other times the colour or idea is just so great that it adds an entirely new angle on the format. So which are your favourites that you have?

Pics welcome and encouraged! *.*

A lot of coloured vinyl and picture discs in my collection look pretty to me.
But the ones I think look the prettiest are...
  • Django Django - Marbled Skies (marbled vinyl)
  • The xx - I See You (clear vinyl)
  • POLICA - United Crushers (rose coloured vinyl)
  • Foals - Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1 (violet vinyl)
  • C Duncan - The Midnight Sun (burgundy vinyl)
  • King Gizzard - Polygondwanaland (4-way coloured vinyl)
  • Ash - Goldfinger (clear glitter 7")
  • Blossoms - Getaway (clear splatter 10")
  • Supergrass - Late In The Day (gold 7")
  • Do Me Bad Things - Time For Deliverance (pic disc 7")
  • Athlete - Twenty Four Hours (pic disc 7")
  • Archie Bronson Outfit - Cherry Lips (blue 7")
  • REM - Electron Blue (sparkling blue 7")
  • New Order - People On The High Line (shaped pic disc)
  • Elliott Smith - Division Day (tri-color 7")
  • David Bowie - No Plan (clear blue 12" with etching on B side)
  • Wild Beast - Reach A Bit Further (tri-color 12")
  • Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody/I'm In Love With My Car (RSD 2019 purple/yellow split 7")

They say picture discs, particularly LP's, don't sound as good as ordinary LP's. There's been a lot of complaints about the Abbey Road picture disc recently.

picture discs never sounded as good to my ears, which is why I tended to avoid them - I even turned down Abba's One Of Us picture disc in favour of the black vinyl version, despite being same price, limited number, worth more as a collectible.

That said, I'm rather fond of the white vinyl Tubes Prime Time with the TV picture cover:

and also my American cereal packet picture disc of The Archies' Catching Up On Fun. You literally had to cut it out from the back of a packet of cereals imported to Singapore from the USA - the cereals were full of little weevils so it was a one-off buy! I'm sure US export food standards have improved since 1970 or else we wouldn't be trying to match them using Brexit as a device to make it cheaper. UK imports to Singapore never had weevils. Just saying.......

besides the new Lana album in blue
I think I only own a couple of non-black vinyls
I have a pink vinyl for Tori Amos - Under the Pink, and a transparent one for Tori Amos - Boys for Pele
both originally bought on release week back in the day smile.gif

I finally succumbed and bought a copy of the Dido album and I have to say that I really love the package, it's the perfect colour to match the artwork wub.gif
