La La Land won, then it didn't.
They gave the wrong envelope for Best Picture with Emma Stone being the envelope and it ended up Moonlight won Best Picture!! I have never ever seen anything like this!! |

It's at least the third major mess-up this decade! Although this one will by far get the biggest headlines!
In 2010 the host of Australia's Next Top Model announced the wrong winner, and then last year the host of Miss Universe announced the wrong winner. It's always fascinating to find out how the wrong name gets announced but gah, can't believe that happened tonight of all nights. I loved La La Land but haven't seen Moonlight so can't say which was more deserving. They seemed to be gracious about it, so it wasn't as awkward as it could've been. |

Amanda winning over Kelsey is my mantra *.*
i think it would have been best with moonlight winning because i saw on tumblr how everyone was going on about how racist the movie industry was and then it won and everyone's rejoicing much better odds defying winner than flop flop land |

Given there were no real surprises regarding the winners (i always knew Moonlight would win despite the odds), at least this year will sill be remembered for this mix up

Regina how do you feel about the fact on Oscar Noms day, The Academy's website had Amy listed instead of Ruth?

Almost as bad as when they snub her and then have her present an award. |

Oh goodness me this was the epitome of embarrassing. Especially when the La La Land cast's speech had been going on for a minute or so
Certainly memorable I guess |

My initial response after watching this is... fix? Like to grab attention but surely it can't be? I just fail to see how something like this can happen so outlandishly... That is just the cynic in my but yeah hmm I am dubious.

I think the Oscars take themselves FAR too seriously for this to have been set-up, these awards have years of history and respect behind them, it's not like these are the Miss World competitions or anything. Apparently more than one card is created per category because you can enter the stage through various entrances and if you zoom in far enough, you can see that poor Warren did have the card for leading actress. I think be was really struggling for what to say/do but Faye thought he was joking and when he showed her the card like 'what do you think of this', she just bursted out with LA LA LAND as soon as she saw it. It's a difficult situation to be in, especially in front of so many viewers and around the age of 80 years old, I feel awful for both hosts, as well as the La La Land team who had to hand over their Oscars that they thought they had won and the Moonlight team who didn't get a proper moment to thank everyone involved and discuss how special a black AND LGBTQ Best Picture winning film is to so many people.
