Amazon this morning (yesterday morning's positions in brackets) - source here:
(15) 11 Gayle - abcdefu
(20) 17 George Ezra - Come On Home For Christmas

and also:
(21) 21 ArrDee - Flowers (Say My Name)
(17) 25 SwitchOTR - Coming For You
(50) 38 Olivia Dean - The Christmas Song

All these songs are on SCR. The George Ezra and Olivia Dean songs are exclusive to Amazon, so in theory can't get streams from anywhere else and should be further behind those other songs when data from elsewhere is added.

However in First Look:
#5 George Ezra - Come On Home For Christmas
#10 Gayle - abcdefu

#17 Olivia Dean - The Christmas Song
#18 ArrDee - Flowers (Say My Name)
#20 SwitchOTR - Coming For You

mathswoman.png

Someone has mentioned before that there is a separate 'Amazon Prime' chart where the exclusive Christmas songs have been charting higher. So I guess it just comes down to the premium/free streams split. (I actually didn't know until just now when trying to Google to find said Amazon Prime chart that there was a free tier of Amazon Music but apparently that is the case, I still have no idea how to see the Prime chart though). A little surprising that is enough to make this much of a difference but I guess it may just be small margins and exaggerated by how absurdly overweighted Amazon is in the First Look chart.

No doubt George will fall behind GAYLE and Olivia will fall behind ArrDee/SwitchOTR by the end of the week.

Amazon's numbers are always super shady in December.

The OCC must be tracking the data rather than Amazon submitting it surely? Previous posts are right, they have more than one chart depending on which subscription you have.

George Ezra is #13 in whatever I have which I think is the standard Prime subscription

Surprised Wizzard have never been higher than 14 on Spotify, guess there’s a lot of competition when it peaks. Adele 140k streams ahead of Ed/Elton wonder if the downloads will over come that?

Was it this week last year when Mariah finally went to No1? Ariana was on lowish sales of 40k and Mariah beat her so will likely do the same this week perhaps!

Does Leona usually do as well as top 6 on Apple each year?

Where is Ed/Elton on Amazon?

Looks like the Amazon Exclusives are a few places higher on Prime, still doesn't seem enough to explain it which is frustrating, but that's how it is. Main issue I have with the exclusives is the enforced repeat plays (which becomes a bigger thing closer to Christmas Day).

Ed/Elton are currently #3 on Amazon after trailing Adele (now #4) for most of the weekend.

Yeh I imagine they play ‘Mariah’ then ‘Wham’ then ‘George Ezra’ when you ask Alexa to play Xmas songs.

Alexa from Christmas Day 2019 apparently:
Mariah, Wham!, Ellie, Band Aid, Shaky, Pogues, Ellie again, Slade, Katy Perry, Chris Rea, Ellie again, Wizzard, Andy Williams, Buble, Ellie again...

Slightly exaggerated perhaps, but can attest to some of that happening on Boxing Day that year - and that's how she got the #1.

Leona update.

Apple Music

5. One More Sleep (+148)
142. Kiss Me It's Christmas

Amazon

20. One More Sleep
90. Kiss Me It's Christmas

Amazing to see how well "One More Sleep" is doing on Apple Music. I really wish the spotify playlists would be a bit kinder to the song (not that it's doing badly there at all).

Nice to see "Kiss Me It's Christmas" continue to rise up Apple Music and Amazon. I wonder if it'll have a chance of going top 100 this week if it continues to rise?

thru the link I always check, Ed/Elton have been #3 on Amazon since Saturday afternoon:
https://music.amazon.co.uk/popular/songs

River getting to #1 was bizarre but last year Jess Glynne getting to #3 was even more weird biggrin.gif

AIWFCIY is the #1 globally (for the first time this year?)

Love to see Pretenders in top 50 in the UK

Wham! suddenly jumping to a fairly big lead over Mariah there! Mariah's days as the #1 Christmas classic are numbered if Wham! keep overtaking her earlier each year.

I wish this was a battle between almost any other 2 Christmas songs though, Wham! and Mariah are basically my 2 least favourite of the big ones oop.

Ed/Elton still holding up quite well but interested to see what happens to it tomorrow - will it recover like other current hits or drop off like the older Christmas songs? Depends on how much its streams are already just coming from being on Christmas playlists I guess.

not sure if mentioned but talking about playlist, Ed & Elton have been added to HH and pretty high
so Ed is actually on 4 tracks on HH as a lead + a 5th as featured on TS's Run

nice HH moved Sam Fender to track #2... too bad HH is kinda irrelevant in December though

actually very good figures for Wham today, 614K, thats more than double relative to Ed & Elton who are just on 255K
so applying ACR it would be still Adele comfortably at #1 with doing 50% more than Ed & EJ
1 Adele - Easy on me 382K
2 Wham 307K
3 Mariah 297K
4 Ed & Elton 255K
5 Gayle 232K + ??? (probably ahead of Ed&EJ when adding the 2nd version)

I'd really love to see Clarko go top 10 this year!

Easily my favourite "modern" Christmas song.

Does the UK prefer Wham to Mariah overall?

Gayle up to #5 on Amazon now, think she'll stay Top 5 officially this week at least.
