I'm genuinely getting emotional just watching and hearing more about people responding to the video. Never have I felt an artist deserved more recognition than I feel Carly needed with this album (except maybe Ke$'s 'Warrior'). It almost breaks my heart that this video has come and she feels so neglected too. The story of the video is so simple but so so poignant once you really take notice of what it implies. It's hit home hard and given new meaning to the song which I never even thought of before.
I realise I'm getting far to into my love for her and wanting her to succeed but it's more about wanting people to listen to the album and realise how beautiful the lyrics are and how personable and identifiable the music is. The album is for everyone it's a shame no one is really listening (away from the internet fans). But then after all of that does it really matter? She's created this album which those that have done so, can continue to enjoy and replay forever and I'm so grateful for that. She really is the type of girl for everyone, people just haven't given her the chance to be :'( I thought I long gave up caring about chart success for artists but clearly not |

The video is making me hear this song in a whole new way as well. I so wish the situation was different for her.

I felt really proud of the fact I recommended the album to someone who'd never heard of her last week and he bought it as a result.
He didn't like it though. |

I've grown to love 'Run Away With Me' and this also sounds great on first initial listens. I think the problem with her not getting enough recognition is that, after 'Call Me Maybe', and even 'Good Time' too everyone sort of sees her as a cheesy childlike artist and so releasing 'I Really Like You' only helped to reinforce those perceptions. Whilst IRLY was probably the most commercial song to release and biggest chance at a hit, continuing those perceptions has probably done more damage due to people not actually taking time to hear what else has done this era.

This wasn't exactly my favourite on the album but the video and the interpretation discussed in this thread has really resonated with me so it's rapidly growing on me as a result It's so sad that wonderfully crafted pop like this is going unnoticed in favour of generic dance for example.

This, basically. Watching this for the second time just now moved me in a way it didn't the first time. I didn't take too much notice of this particular song at first, possibly partly because I've been obsessed with 'Run Away With Me', 'Warm Blood' and 'When I Needed You', but I have so much more of an appreciation and interest towards this song now. |

I am guessing this song has disappeared from the ether now before it even got started and the era will be over? Sigh

WaiT at this flawless bop. I really need to check out the album.
I Really Like You is horrible, but the 2 most recent single are really really good. |
