BJSC 118 Results
Active Child - All Eyes On You Last night the results of the BJSC 118 final were on home ground! Following a huge Jadakissnia top 10s medley, we announced the votes of 58 different nations. The winner was crowned as Charlotte Lawrence's 'Why Do You Love Me', so a huge congratulations to Lotunia on their first ever gold medal! As for our own entry, auto-qualifier 'All Eyes On You' by Active Child finished in an impressive 3rd place with 270 points! This actually beats the points total for our winner 'Ignis' by 6 points. Here are some fun stats: - This is the first time we've ever had back-to-back top 3s (Rompasso 1st + Active Child 3rd) - This is the first time we've had three medallists in one year (Pharao 3rd, Rompasso 1st + Active Child 3rd) - 'All Eyes On You' received the most amount of 18s ever for a Jadakissnia entry - with 6! This beats the 5 that FM-84's 'Arcade Summer' got in BJSC 87. Thanks to Arcodesia, Hushkanukia, Jupiterdonia, Kylienips, Lotunia + Skall for making it happen - Not that there's a big pool, but 'All Eyes On You' is our most successful AQ to date, massively eclipsing the 17th place of Ben Frost's 'Venter' in BJSC 109. - This is our 16th top 10 hit, 8th top 5 hit and 7th top 3 hit to date. - This is the fourth time we've obtained a bronze medal (joining MssingNo, BÖ + Pharao) - our most common position to date now! - This is the fourth time we've bagged a top 10 hit during the 8th contest of the year, this definitely seems to be our most successful contest! The exception is 27th in 98 with Moth Equals (still a qualifier though yay) - but we came 7th in 78 (AK & LYNX feat. Veela), 3rd in 88 (MssingNo), 2nd in 108 (Somnium) and now 3rd in 118! Phew. That was fun. We're so pleased that 'All Eyes On You', our favourite of our own entries this year, was such a huge success! Thank you to these nations for awarding us the following points: 18 - Arcodesia, Hushkanukia, Jupiterdonia, Kylienips, Lotunia + Skall 15 - Persephonia 13 - Kluminican Republic 12 - Espen + Fljótavík 11 - Aeroche + Bøtanikkä 10 - Sergeistan + Utopia 09 - Aelandor, Altyr Muunilinst + Deandria 08 - Danæviia + East Rukahavian 06 - FARC 05 - Trifoski 04 - Budtar + Summericia 02 - Oslol + Unovia 01 - République d'Áskorza + Scherzland These were our semi-final votes + final votes: SEMI 1 12 Arcodesia: God Is An Astronaut - Echoes 10 Bøtanikkä: Ayla - Angelfalls (Elemental Force) 08 Rolloland: UNKLE feat. So possibly watch this space for that. |

Kind of a shame that you miss out on the chance to get another AQ next contest to maybe send something a little more wacky (this was always bound to do rather well anyway) but really pleased that this did so well ofc <3 I'm gonna pretend this was your winner since it did actually get more points than 'Ignis' and all so will be joining Pharao in actually being more successful than your winner!
Jadakissnia now having more top 10s than Persephonia in about half the number of attempts though we are not worthy xx |

Jadakissnia now having more top 10s than Persephonia in about half the number of attempts though we are not worthy xx Indeed, I didn't clock the fact that I'd lost out on an AQ for a little while and then a sudden wave of saltiness washed over me definitely played it safe with this AQ but I was still in peak stan mode (still riding high in my personal chart etc.) and wanted more people to hear it ASAP never mind, hopefully I'll get another shot at an AQ eventually. I'm so glad you were a fan, it's like the snubs last month never even happened, back in business with double-figure points for each other I'm totally okay with pretending this is my winner, as much as I enjoy 'Ignis' too blimey, my 3rd places killing it this year. 'Scope' one of the most successful songs ever in its semi-final too. We go hard when we go bronze apparently. Wow well... at least you still have more wins than me x |

Yup, this was exactly as I thought, same song too, I actually checked it out the other day and it sounded pretty good although I need a re-listen for sure. Also wanted to point out this is your 2nd 'Epiphany' entry in a song contest, after Club Bizarre ofc (I'm almost in the same boat there, with my entry being titled 'Zombie 2000' and I sent a 'Zombie' to a spin-off before ha. #quickfacts)

BJSC 119
Ross From Friends - Epiphany This month our 46th entry to date comes in the form of 'Epiphany' by Ross From Friends! The title is named both after his sister and a literal epiphany. This is the title track from its accompanying EP. Speaking of the project, he said: "I wanted the release to play on the idea of a desolate physical and social landscape becoming a utopia from a communal epiphany - or revolution" - so you can imagine that the music video is pretty creative. As for the song itself, the British producer channels his inner BICEP sonically as it's largely an electronic instrumental, save for very small vocal portions here and there. One quirk though - another layer to the song is that there's a Middle Eastern guitar playing throughout most of 'Epiphany' too. We're so ready to dive back into the world of instrumentals for this contest! Our song can be found in slot 5 of semi-final 2. ~~~ omg I think I know :') Aha! I know I see what you did there xx Yup, this was exactly as I thought, same song too, I actually checked it out the other day and it sounded pretty good although I need a re-listen for sure. Also wanted to point out this is your 2nd 'Epiphany' entry in a song contest, after Club Bizarre ofc (I'm almost in the same boat there, with my entry being titled 'Zombie 2000' and I sent a 'Zombie' to a spin-off before ha. #quickfacts) Well done for your guess - even down to actual song - being bang on! I'm glad your first impression was positive, hope it grows further on second listen too and oh yes Bray pointed that out to me as well - what a fun fact! *.* or should I say #quickfacts (g'won with the spooky double x) |

We QUALIFIED for the BJSC 119 final with Ross From Friends - 'Epiphany'!
Hot off the Lotunian press - we're going to be finalists in the 119th edition of BJSC! 'Epiphany' by Ross From Friends survived the semi 2 crowd and delivered our 39th qualification to date. This positive news also boosts our current streak of qualifiers up to 6. Not bad when we had two DNQs at the start of the year! It was always going to be tough to follow two top 3 results in a row, but at least we've advanced to the next stage, no matter where we place in the final. This is what our would-be and real votes looked like... Would-be semi 1 votes: 12 Q 10 Q 08 Q 07 Utopia: Blood Red Shoes - Elijah 06 Q 05 Rolloland: Mostly Autumn - Saturday Night 04 Q 03 Thelonia: Moon Boots - So Precious (feat. KONA) 02 Niceland: Adriano Cintra - Animal (feat. Camila Siqueira) 01 Q This was definitely not the best start to the night! We're gutted for Utopia who lose out once again with a high quality offering. We were not expecting Rolloland to perform so poorly, I mean... bottom 3 in the semi?! What were you guys in semi 1 thinking. Thelonia sent a lush chill dance offering but their good luck unfortunately had to run out eventually. Niceland reconfirmed with something pretty quirky and we were here for it, but many others didn't quite take to it as it came... last in the semi. Erm semi 2 votes: 12 Q 10 Q 08 Q 07 Q 06 Q 05 Arcodesia: Sleep Party People - Death Is The Future 04 Q 03 Q 02 Q 01 Sergeistan: The Kolors - Los Angeles (feat. Guè Pequeno) This semi was a lot smoother than anticipated on the other hand! Aside from our own qualification, we only lost 2 of our top 10. Arcodesia were a big loss as they delivered yet again with an instrumental that's very fitting for Halloween. Then Sergeistan squeezed into our votes with a solid follow-up to their brilliant debut last time. Please support Jadakissnia in the final, we're so close to being top 10 in the YTD! We can be found in slot 24. |

epiphany Q'ing was never in doubt but well done anyways tune Thanks Leww glad you had faith in my entry! Excited to see what it can do in the final, although front-runner Unovia coming right after me in the ordering is unlucky (jk that means nothing, except back 2 back bangers x) |

BJSC 119 Results
Ross From Friends - Epiphany The results of the BJSC 119 final were presented in Lotunia last night! We anxiously waited to find out if our entry would live up to the hype in a tense scoreboard lockdown. We found out that our electronic instrumental 'Epiphany' by Ross From Friends finished in 7th place with 229 points! We are CHUFFED with this result as it means that a Jadakissnia first has happened. For the first time ever, we have achieved three top 10 results in a row! These are 1st place for 'Ignis' by Rompasso, then 3rd for 'All Eyes On You' by Active Child and now 7th for 'Epiphany' by Ross From Friends! In addition to this, we finished in 3rd place earlier in the year with 'I Show You Secrets' by Pharao, taking our tally of top 10 hits to 4 this year. This matches the amount of those we achieved last year, but doesn't quite beat the insane 6 top 10s we achieved in one year in 2016. Still, a very successful turnaround this year after two DNQs earlier in 2019! We now have 17 top 10 hits in total. This is the second time we've achieved 7th place, after 'Virtual Paradise' by AK & LYNX feat. Veela in BJSC 78. Although this was after the disqualification of Mz. 007's 'Important', no shady business to achieve 7th this time The impact of 7th place doesn't end there, as we actually finished 7th in the semi-final too - with 80 points. We underperformed a little in the final compared to predictions where we were the 2nd or 3rd favourite nation to win, but we still did incredibly well, so we are very happy nevertheless. A huge congratulations to Unovia for winning with the song that was the front-runner in the odds, we're pleased that we voted for the gold medal! These were our final votes: 18 Persephonia: Amon Tobin - One Shy Morning 15 Deandria: María Daniela Y Su Sonido Lasser - Zombie 2000 13 Aeroche: ∆XIUS LIИK - KØNSTANTA 12 Summericia: Nobuo Uematsu - Toberu Mono (Thaehan Remix) 11 Séyetana: GHOST DATA - T O M I E 10 Cowtermont: HOWWLER - 9 Times 09 Fljótavik: Digitalism - Pogo (Shinichi Fljósawa Re-Edit) 08 Taahino: Issues - Drink About It 07 Ojnoj: Ben Platt - RAIN 06 Unovia: Franky Wah - Hide (feat. Robinson) 05 Espen: Cerrone - The Impact 04 Cor Lupus: i_o - Ghost In The Machine 03 Dobago: SKYND - Elisa Lam 02 Jupiterdonia: Nicole Dollanganger - Lemonade 01 Terra Avium: Nakhane - New Brighton (feat. ANOHNI) Thank you to the following nations for pointing us: 18 - Aeroche, Skall + Persephonia 13 - Trifoski 11 - Thelonia, Arcodesia + Terra Avium 10 - Tartford, Wholune, Kylienips + Flynnonda 9 - Aelandor, Rolloland, Vülkyria + Summericia 8 - Sergeistan, Fljótavík + Deandria 7 - Cadelicia 6 - Bøtanikkä + Jupiterdonia 4 - Altyr Muunilinst + East Rukahavian 2 - Land of DW So... next up it's the final contest of the year! The pressure is on after this unexpected successful streak. Better get looking soon! |
