Another week at #1 tied up for Little Mix I assume. They just dropped their video and there videos always have quite a big effect on their sales.

Is this going to be another week where all the talk is about Little Miz or is there other songs of note to debate over?

Everything as been done perfect for this release, Still have a 60% lead on iTunes am guessing that will shorting through the week but the video should keep it at a good iTunes lead.

Not a huge problem, I just don't want to be part of it which is why I asked and I do not want to offend/trigger any supporters. It could help me decide whether or not to stay out of this thread for this week.

Or just input your own opinions on other songs etc... and try and start a new conversation? Nobody's forcing you to join in and talk about Little Mix laugh.gif It's an iTunes thread, as long as it's in relation to the topic at hand, it's quite a varied subject to talk about. As long as you're not purposefully antagonising people to get a rise out of situations, all talk is good!

P.s. I'm not saying you personally go out the way to antagonise, just using it as a general rule haha.

Clean Bandit is one of the worst songs of the year when will Sean Paul team up with God so we don't have to hear him anymore, never has a man contributed so little to music since Baz from Happy Mondays.

Sean Paul is an innovator in modern music, though? He's one of the only people to hit the mainstream with dance-hall and stay relevant. No other Reggae/Afrobeat influenced artist would fit in with both Sia, Clean Bandit and Fuse ODG songs so smoothly - he's one of the legends of our time.

A legend of doing the same thing on every song he contributes to and a dim public for continuely falling for it, eventually his same old, same old style will fall out of favour.

I think he probably has the same agent as Dennis Waterman from Little Britain.

"you want me to write the theme tune, rap the theme tune in a dance hall reggae stylllleee, de do de do"

Yes mate, preach! laugh.gif

It's a shame though that his popularity and success doesn't see more reggae and afrobeat music breakthrough. Songs like Hold Yuh (Gyptian), Antenna and No Games (Serani) are club staples and I hear songs like Gyal You A Party Animal (Charly Black), Your Number (Ayo Jay) and Bruk Off Yuh Back (Konshens) often too. If I were a UK major label, I'd be pushing artists like Popcaan and WizKid hard right now after their successful features this year and they are ripe for crossover. As we saw with Fuse ODG a few years ago, get these artists the right songs and they can surprise people! Although seeing Stylo G struggle after Soundbwoy may be putting them off and Sean Paul is a name that transcends his genre and relies at least partly on nostalgia.

Or perhaps people only like their dancehall/reggae mixed with house?

Its a nice addition, just the font colour needs to be a bit darker, some members could be colour blind, personally I find light colours are a bit difficult to read especially the expired bargains section, against the grey forum colours its difficult to read. Apart from that its fine.

Sean Paul has had chart hits for 14 years now and is still relevant as ever, now that is seriously impressive. Pitbull could never.

Can we stay on topic please? let's not make this personal.

Posted by: Mango 21st October 2016, 09:29 AM

Loving the Clean Bandit song! Despite it being musically a little derivative I guess. Although they shouldn't have bothered with the classical strings on it, all they've done is tacked them on at the start and the end of the song, whereas with their earlier stuff the classical element was more central to the song. On this one it just feels like they've added it as an afterthought, just to try and keep the trademark theme going. Still a really good song though and should give them another easy Top 10 biggrin.gif

The Robbie Williams grat is decent too, better than the single.

Eminem not taking off then. You'd think there are enough Eminem fans for the song to be at least top 100 by now, but then again it's 8 minutes long and is very close to being a capella

Its not great imo, their funky house songs Stronger and Tears were better.

Posted by: TheSnake 21st October 2016, 11:07 PM

I am happy that Galantis - Love On Me, real Uniting Nations -You and Me vibes for me on this one, with the fun retro sound and repetitive lyrics.

The Clean Bandit song is so generic, really don't like it especially after the amazing Stronger and Tears with the mid 00s style funky house production. Now its back to the dull tropical house and dancehall mix that it shared by so many popular songs these days. Even the classical influence is largely gone.

Btw I wonder who plays the violin now Neil has gone?

Sorry this is the last I will talk about the mid 00s on herr for a while laugh.gif

Her album has been number 1 on iTunes all day so I wouldn't say no interest at all.

Lady Gaga is coming for a 3-24 chart run with the album. Unless there is a miracle in a couple of years, she is done.

I badly want Zara to snatch top 10, or at least peak above #13.

She's followed up Artpop too quickly, after the commercial disaster of that she should have removed herself from the limelight and concentrated on her music - huge Gaga stan but this album is a disappointment.

I'd be very amazed if Clean Bandit can pull off another top ten debut - who'd have thought they'd transition so well to the OAOS era when a few of their top tens previously relied on the preorders for their peaks (Stronger, Extraordinary)?

Posted by: JosephStyles 22nd October 2016, 10:08 PM

I didn't think this would be anywhere near a top 10 debut considering Tears probably only managed it due to the BGT performance too so it's very impressive!

I listened to both songs, really like them both. Sneakin' doesn't sound very commercail at all, and Fake Love sounds more so like the "hit" of the two. I never thought One Dance sounded very big in that sense, in the way that Hotline Bling did, and it managed 15 weeks at #1, so what do I know?

They've changed the picture, add the new singles and started advertising it again, though. (Also the second song on "Hot Hits")... This should be in the Spotify thread really.

I really hope Little Mix can hold onto the #1 for this week at least, anyway.

This certainly has a Turn Me On/Walk Like An Egyptian vibe with a bit of Don't Let Me Down mixed in. Really love the tune though, the music video came out for this just a couple of hours ago as well. Could see this being a surprise smash in the future!

Posted by: gooddelta 24th October 2016, 01:31 PM

I don't think there's any danger of two randomly dropped Drake songs released on a Monday unseating Little Mix, especially when they're climbing quite slowly so far.

I might end up eating my words but even though he's huge right now, I'd be surprised if either one hits the top ten this week.

Little Mix: Fantastic vocalists, great harmonies, some of the best live performances of 2015/2016 and infectious choruses.

Didn't 'One Dance' start off pretty much like this? I forget the release of that but didn't it go 23-3-2(?)-1-1-1... or something? I know he's likely to be a bigger name now than when 'One Dance' was released (although, I think it was 'Hotline Blong' that truly set him up) but I wouldn't rule him out just yet, just coz it isn't an "instant" hit as much.

There's a Little Mix grat that'll probably climb very high on itunes, and new Charli XCX and Bebe Rexha songs too (would be nice if the former could make some sort of impact eventually)!

Una Healy, Dua Lipa and DNCE all have instant grats out too, all three should make top 100 I should imagine - Una could go higher if The Saturdays fans support her like they did Mollie on her release day (although Mollie's was a proper single admittedly).
