I wish we were getting Reminder as the new UK single by The Weeknd too Rockin' is just not clicking with me whereas Reminder is very 'cool' sounding imo. A shame only the Daft Punk collaborations have taken off though because the album is jam-packed full of potential singles!!

'Rockin' is so good. It reminds me of Disclosure circa 2013.

Loads of great adds this week! Jay Z, Dizzee, Duke Dumont and The Weeknd are all great.

Really happy to see Kesha added! If my memory is correct, she didn't get much support last era did she? I seem to remember they didn't add 'Die Young' until it looked like it was going to become a hit, and I don't think they supported 'C'Mon' or 'Crazy Kids' did they?
Either way, over the moon! |

Can't believe they snubbed top 10 hit Pretty Girl! I dunno, it's very wishy washy teen bop. Radio 1 are confusing, they try to be mature and credible mixed with trying to appeal to the youngsters. You never know what they're gonna do! I mean who from their actual target audience is gonna be into Jay-Z "4:44" for instance? |

I mean who from their actual target audience is gonna be into Jay-Z "4:44" for instance? They play indie music even if it doesn't set the charts alight and try to break new acts which is a good thing imo. As for Jay-z I would say he's perfect for radio 1 imo! |

He's like the Foo Fighters/Beyoncé/Coldplay though in that he's musical royalty so can command continued support!
A bit like Paul McCartney in the early 80s! |

What exactly suggests Jay-Z was last considered relevant 8 years ago?

Probably the last time his albums singles were chart hits - prob around the New York era!

He had a top 10 hit off his last album though (which was in 2013). From the songs I've heard off '4:44' he doesn't really seem to be going for hit singles this time, more trying to sell the album (and this is probably for the better, this album has much more critical acclaim than his last one). But still, he's hardly irrelevant...
