BuzzJack Music Forum _ Personal Charts _ Dexton's Weekly Playlist (22/03/17)

Posted by: Dexton Mar 22 2017, 12:07 PM

Hey guys! So starting from this week I'm going to start restructuring the way my chart functions. The current way I'm making my charts is a little bit time consuming and I barely have the time in the first place to do this each week. So instead, I will be running this chart similar to how a Radio Station tracks their music. For example, BBC Radio 1 has their A list, B list, and C list - which is exactly what I will be doing from now on. Also expect somewhat of some 'chart' commentary from now on.

A List
Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios
Jon Bellion - All Time Low (Solo and with Stormzy)
Katy Perry - Chained To The Rhythm (feat. Skip Marley)
Kygo & Selena Gomez - It Ain't Me
Lorde - Green Light
Martin Jensen - Solo Dance
* Sheppard - Keep Me Crazy **TRACK OF THE WEEK*
Sia - Never Give Up
Snakehips & MŲ - Don't Leave
Zedd & Alessia Cara - Stay

B List
AJR - Weak
* The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This
Charli XCX - 3AM (Pull Up) (feat. MŲ)
* Clean Bandit - Symphony (feat. Zara Larsson)
Declan McKenna - The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home
Julia Michael - Issues
* Louisa Johnson - Best Behaviour
One Republic - Let's Hurt Tonight
Rag'n'Bone Man - Skin
Tiėsto - On My Way (feat. Bright Sparks)

C List
* Andy Grammer - Fresh Eyes (Ryan Riback Remix)
* Cash Cash & ROZES - Matches
* Ed Sheeran - Galway Girl
JP Cooper - Birthday
* Little Mix - No More Sad Songs (feat. Machine Gun Kelly)
* Marian Hill - Down
* Milky Chance - Cocoon
* Pitbull - Sexy Body (feat. Jennifer Lopez)
Ralph Felix & SDJM - The Heat (I Wanna Dance With Somebody)
* Steps - Scared Of The Dark
* Vice - Obsession (feat. Jon Bellion)

So we start this week with a bunch of new songs. Some of these I've had my eye on for a while now (Something Just Like This, Down, Cocoon) but have previously only just missed my ex-Top 20, whereas others (Keep Me Crazy, Symphony, Obsession) have only just come into play.

Every single one of these songs on the A List is outstanding in it's own way. I never thought that I would enjoy a Stormzy song, however, somehow he just fits perfectly onto the already perfect song that is All Time Low. Similar to how Sean Paul revived Cheap Thrills for me last year, Stormzy pulls All Time Low back up the top as it would have dropped significantly on my regular chart. Chained To The Rhythm has slowly grown on me over time however I had expected a bit better coming from Katy Perry... although It's certainly better than Rise tongue.gif Sheppard bouncing back from their Australian #1 hit Geronimo with Keep Me Crazy - slightly less punchy and unlikely to live up to it's predecessor chart-wise, but still pleasant to the ears.

Clean Bandit go back to their roots with Symphony, reminiscent of Rather Be and a huge step up from Rockabye (and Tears to be honest). Expect it to do well in both official and Buzzjack charts dance.gif Louisa Johnson's new bop didn't hit me at first quite like So Good did...but after a few listens it's quickly become as good if not better than her debut.

A buttload of new tracks in the C List, with only 2 songs here actually coming from last weeks chart. Galway Girl, the St. Patricks day song we never knew we wanted. I would not be surprised if this re-enters every singles chart ever on each St. Patricks day from this year onwards. Woo! Steps are back! My excitement isn't that genuine, really, I wouldn't be able to tell you any of their other songs if I tried. Still, this is an awesome song which inclines me to check out some of their older material...something I may find myself doing at some point over the next few weeks.
