1975: Netherlands (“Ding-a-dong”) [Winner]
1976: United Kingdom (“Save Your Kisses For Me”) [Winner] (Iconic) 1977: France (“L’oiseau et l’enfant”) [Winner] 1978: Israel (“A-Ba-Ni-Bi”) [Winner] 1979: Spain (“Su Canción”) [Runner-Up] (Both pretty shit) 1980: Ireland (“What’s Another Year”) [Winner] (Omg Johnny Logan was such a babe back then) 1981: United Kingdom (“Making Your Mind Up”) [Winner] (One of the best 80s ESC songs) 1982: Germany (“Ein Bisschen Frieden”) [Winner] (Ikonik) 1983: Israel (“Hi”) [Runner-Up] 1984: Ireland (“Terminal 3”) [Runner-Up] 1985: Norway (“La Det Swinge”) [Winner] (Bobbysocks <3) 1986: Belgium (“J’aime La Vie”) [Winner] (Best by a mile) 1987: Ireland (“Hold Me Now”) [Winner] 1988: Switzerland (“Ne partez pas sans moi”) [Winner] 1989: Yugoslavia (“Rock Me”) [Winner] (Both pretty lame tbh) 1990: Italy (“Insieme: 1992”) [Winner] 1991: Sweden (“Fångad av en Stormvind”) [Winner] (How did this just narrowly win? So much better than France) 1992: Ireland (“Why Me?”) [Winner] 1993: Ireland (“In Your Eyes”) [Winner] 1994: Poland (“To Nie Ja!”) [Runner-Up] 1995: Norway (“Nocturne”) [Winner] (Top 5 ESC of the 90s for sure) 1996: Norway (“I Evighet”) [Runner-Up] 1997: United Kingdom (“Love Shine a Light”) [Winner] 1998: Israel (“Diva”) [Winner] (I like Imaani but this is such an important winner) 1999: Iceland (“All Out Of Luck”) [Runner-Up] (Robbed. Makes me happy instantly whenever I hear it) 2000: Russia (“Solo”) [Runner-Up] (Both were alright, Solo wasn't that great live tho) 2001: Denmark (“Never Ever Let You Go”) [Runner-Up] (Everybody is terrible. Denmark should have taken this) 2002: Latvia (“I Wanna”) [Winner] (Lol I like "I Wanna" actually. Prefer it to 7th wonder) 2003: Turkey (“Everyway That I Can”) [Winner] (Sanomi is great too but ETIC is so good) 2004: Ukraine (“Wild Dances”) [Winner] (So much better than Lane Moje. Best winner of the 2000s) 2005: Greece (“My Number 1”) [Winner] (Chiara was ok but this was much better) 2006: Russia (“Never Let You Go”) [Runner-Up] (Lordi haven't aged well for me. NLYG has aged much better but would have preferred Lejla or Tornero to both) 2007: Ukraine (“Dancing Lasha Tumbai”) [Runner-Up] (Like Liam said, Verka is quintessential Eurovision) 2008: Ukraine (“Shady Lady”) [Runner-Up] (Shady Lady is SUCH a banger, how did Russia possibly win?) 2009: Iceland (“Is It True?”) [Runner-Up] (Fairytale is great but I can't not stan for Yohanna. The live version blew my expectations to outer space. SO good.) 2010: Turkey (“We Could Be The Same”) [Runner-Up] (I love Lena and all but WCBTS is my JAM! Turkey always knew how to bring awesome pop-rock) 2011: Azerbaijan (“Running Scared”) [Winner] (Running Scared is ok but Madness of Love is horrible so this is a default win) 2012: Sweden (“Euphoria”) [Winner] (Euphoria is THE song of Eurovision. Ever. PFE was still super fun) 2013: Denmark (“Only Teardrops”) [Winner] (Lol at Azerbaijan being the main challenger here. Forgot that happened) 2014: Austria (“Rise Like A Phoenix”) [Winner] (Echoing what Liam said again - RLAP is such an important winner, even tho CATS is still really good.) 2015: Sweden (“Heroes”) [Winner] (I liked both, but Heroes I still listen to) 2016: Australia (“Sound of Silence”) [Runner-Up] (DAMI WAS ROBBED () 2017: Bulgaria (“Beautiful Mess”) [Runner-Up] (Such an easy choice. BM is great. APD is not) This post has been edited by cantthinkofaname: Apr 7 2018, 03:28 PM |

I'd never deny Conchita of her rightful win but I far prefer Calm After The Storm and The Common Linnets' debut is easily my favourite Eurovision-related album. The same with Diva really, I prefer Where Are You as a song but I wouldn't want to deny Dana International's win. |

Agree about 1996, The Voice is gorgeous and such an underrated winner for me. Yet Den Vilda and Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit are both miles and miles better, and I Evighet is lovely too. What a great, high quality year though you've got to laugh at that entire new age sweep of the top three when Gina G had a global smash and all-time pop classic finishing down in 8th...!
