2016

One whole year since the Justin Bieber top 3 domination ohmy.gif I expect Ed Sheeran will have a whole top 3 to himself at some stage this year too but for now the Biebz is still the only one to have done so.

1- LOVE YOURSELF- Justin Bieber (78,658)
2- SORRY- Justin Bieber (62,081)
3- WHAT DO YOU MEAN?- Justin Bieber (41,049)
5- HELLO- Adele (38,032)
6- YOU DON’T OWN ME- Grace Ft G-Eazy (36,411)
8- SWEET LOVIN- Sigala Ft Bryn Christopher (33,631)
10- THE GIRL IS MINE- 99 Souls Ft Destiny’s Child & Brandy (27,742)

2012

'Levels' slaying that top 5 *_* and its influence felt on the #1 single too. I did like that Taio Cruz song quite a bit but it's VERY of its time lmao. A great top 10 on the whole actually, I only dislike the Olly Murs song.

1- GOOD FEELING- Flo Rida (50,907)
2- PARADISE- Coldplay (36,488)
3- TROUBLEMAKER- Taio Cruz (36,208)
4- LEVELS- Avicii (35,428)
5- MAMA DO THE HUMP- Rizzle Kicks (34,571)
7- EARTHQUAKE- Labrinth Ft Tinie Tempah (31,738)
8- DOMINO- Jessie J (30,192)
9- WE FOUND LOVE- Rihanna Ft Calvin Harris (29,400)
10- DEDICATION TO MY EX (MISS THAT)- Lloyd Ft Andre 3000 & Lil Wayne (25,540)

2007

Poor Eric Prydz being denied another #1 by Leona Lewis. Although 'Proper Education' is my least favourite of his three big UK hits, 'Call On Me' and 'Pjanoo' are proper 11/10s. Lmao at 10k giving you a #7 single though, if only streaming had been invented back then. That Sharam track was quite a choon too, nice representation of dance in this top 10 on the whole.

1- A MOMENT LIKE THIS- Leona Lewis (38,944)
2- PROPER EDUCATION- Eric Prydz Vs Floyd (22,900)
3- PATIENCE- Take That (17,000)*
5- SMACK THAT- Akon Featuring Eminem (10,600)*
6- BOOGIE 2NITE- Bootie Luv (10,200)*
7- TRULY MADLY DEEPLY- Cascada (9,700)*
8- PATT (PARTY ALL THE TIME)- Sharam (9,300)*
9- CHASING CARS- Snow Patrol (9,100)*

2002

That is a great top 2 actually, if only one of those had been the Christmas number one instead of the Robbie Williams jazz song. The Hermes House Band song is quite iconique too *_*

1- GOTTA GET THRU THIS- Daniel Bedingfield (25,354)
2- MURDER ON THE DANCEFLOOR- Sophie Ellis-Bextor (21,250)
5- HANDBAGS AND GLADRAGS- The Stereophonics (13,500)*
7- Will I?- Ian Van Dahl (11,900)*
10- COUNTRY ROADS- Hermes House Band (11,100)*

1997

At least the Tori Amos song would eventually make #1, so I can't be too angry with The Spice Girls here.

1- 2 BECOME 1- The Spice Girls (113,000)
2- PROFESSIONAL WIDOW (IT’S GOT TO BE BIG)- Tori Amos (66,000)
4- UN-BREAK MY HEART- Toni Braxton (53,000)*
6- ONE AND ONE- Robert Miles/ Maria Naylor (29,000)*
7- BREATHE- The Prodigy (28,000)*

Biography

Oliver Stanley "Olly" Murs (born 14 May 1984) is an English singer-songwriter, television presenter and actor. He rose to fame after finishing as the runner-up in the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009. He is currently signed to Epic Records in the United Kingdom, Columbia Records in the United States, and Syco Music.

In 2010, Murs released his debut single "Please Don't Let Me Go", which debuted at number one on the UK Singles Charts and received a Gold certification by the BPI. It was Murs' first number one single after "You Are Not Alone" with the other series 6 finalists. His second single from debut album "Thinking of Me" charted at number four on the UK Singles Charts and received a Silver certification by the BPI. "Heart Skips a Beat" was his second number-one single. Murs' second single from his next album In Case You Didn't Know, "Dance with Me Tonight", became his third to reach number one.

In November 2010, Murs released his self-titled debut album, Olly Murs, which entered the UK Albums Chart at number two, with the biggest week one album sales for a debut album in 2010, with over 108,000 albums sold. The album went on to sell over 600,000 copies, and was certified double platinum by the BPI. In November 2011, Murs' released his second album, In Case You Didn't Know, which entered the charts at number one and resulted in two number-one singles. As of December 2014, Murs has sold over 10 million records worldwide. In May 2011, it was announced that Murs would return to The X Factor to co-present the spin-off show The Xtra Factor with Caroline Flack. His autobiography, Happy Days, was published in October 2012. In November 2012, Murs released his third album Right Place Right Time, and so far has released four singles from it; the first, "Troublemaker", was his fourth number one.

On 16 November 2014, Murs released his latest single, "Wrapped Up" featuring Gym Class Heroes' Travie McCoy, which peaked at number 3. This was to be the first song to be released from his new album Never Been Better which entered the charts at number 1 on 24 November 2014, followed by a second single, "Up" featuring singer Demi Lovato. Murs also announced that he would tour the UK in spring 2015. On 15 June, Murs released his fourth single "Beautiful to Me" in which the music video included Game of Thrones actress Charlotte Hope. On 16 April 2015, it was announced that Murs would be reunited with Flack to replace Dermot O'Leary as co-presenters of The X Factor from series 12. Murs hinted this at a concert in Dublin and also announced that he would be making a fifth album.

Biography

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE (/əˈdɛl/; born 5 May 1988) is an English singer and songwriter. Graduating from the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in 2006, Adele was given a recording contract by XL Recordings after a friend posted her demo on Myspace the same year. In 2007, she received the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" award and won the BBC Sound of 2008 poll. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008 to commercial and critical success. It is certified seven times platinum in the UK, and double platinum in the US. An appearance she made on Saturday Night Live in late 2008 boosted her career in the US. At the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in 2009, Adele received the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Adele released her second studio album, 21, in early 2011. The album was well received critically and surpassed the success of her debut, earning the singer numerous awards in 2012, including a record-tying six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year; two Brit Awards, including British Album of the Year, and three American Music Awards. The album has been certified 16 times platinum in the UK, and is the fourth best-selling album in the UK of all time. In the US it has held the top position longer than any album since 1985, and is certified Diamond. The album has sold 31 million copies worldwide.

The success of 21 earned Adele numerous mentions in the Guinness Book of World Records. She is the first woman in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to have three simultaneous top 10 singles as a lead artist, and the first female artist to simultaneously have two albums in the top five of the Billboard 200 and two singles in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. 21 is the longest-running number one album by a female solo artist in the history of the UK and US Album Charts. In 2012, she released "Skyfall", which she wrote and recorded for the James Bond film of the same name. The song won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. After taking a three-year break, Adele released her third studio album, 25, in 2015. It became the year's best-selling album and broke first week sales records in the UK and US. The lead single, "Hello", became the first song in the US to sell over one million digital copies within a week of its release.

In 2011 and 2012, Billboard named Adele Artist of the Year. In 2012, she was listed at number five on VH1's 100 Greatest Women in Music. Time magazine named her one of the most influential people in the world in 2012 and 2016. With sales of more than 100 million records, Adele is one of the best-selling recording artists in the world.

Biography

Shawn Peter Raul Mendes (/ˈmɛndɛz/, European Portuguese: [ˈmẽdɨʃ]; born August 8, 1998) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. He attracted a following in 2013, when he began posting song covers on the video sharing application Vine. The following year, he caught the attention of artist managers Andrew Gertler and Island Records A&R Ziggy Chareton, which led to him signing a deal with the record label. Mendes went on to release an EP and his debut studio album Handwritten, whose single "Stitches" reached the top 10 in the US and Canada, and number one in the UK. His sophomore album, Illuminate (2016), was preceded by the single "Treat You Better". Both albums debuted atop the US Billboard 200. - Wikipedia

Biography

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler (born 18 December 1975), referred to mononymously as Sia (/ˈsiːə/), is an Australian singer and songwriter. She started her career as a singer in the local Adelaide acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s. In 1997, when Crisp disbanded, she released her debut studio album titled OnlySee on Flavoured Records in Australia. Following the event, she moved to London, England and provided lead vocals for British duo Zero 7.

In 2000, Sia signed to Sony Music's sub-label Dance Pool and released her second studio album, Healing Is Difficult, the following year. Displeased with the promotion of the record, she signed to Go! Beat and released her third studio album, Colour the Small One, in 2004. Dissatisfied with the project's struggling to connect with a mainstream audience, Sia relocated to New York City in 2005 and began touring across the United States. Sia released her fourth and fifth studio releases, Some People Have Real Problems and We Are Born, in 2008 and 2010, respectively. In 2014, Sia released her sixth studio album, 1000 Forms of Fear, which debuted atop the U.S. Billboard 200 and generated the top-ten single "Chandelier". In 2016, she released her seventh studio album This Is Acting, which spawned the top-five single "Cheap Thrills". Her catalogue also includes successful collaborations "Titanium" (with David Guetta) and "Wild Ones" (with Flo Rida).

Sia's music incorporates hip hop, funk and soul as a base for her vocal styling. In 2014, she was ranked the 97th richest Australian person under the age of 40 by BRW magazine, with a reported net worth of AU$20 million. Her music has received an array of accolades, including ARIA Awards and MTV Music Awards.

Biography

Adam Richard Wiles (born 17 January 1984), known professionally as Calvin Harris, is a Scottish record producer, DJ, singer, and songwriter. His debut studio album I Created Disco was released in June 2007, and was the precursor to his UK top 10 singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls". In 2009, Harris released his second studio album Ready for the Weekend, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was later certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry within two months of its release. Its lead single "I'm Not Alone" became his first number one single on the UK Singles Chart.

Harris rose to international prominence with the release of his third studio album 18 Months in October 2012. Topping the UK charts, the album became his first to chart on the US Billboard 200 chart (where it reached number 19). All eight of the album's singles, which were "Bounce", "Feel So Close", "Let's Go", "We'll Be Coming Back", "Sweet Nothing", "Drinking from the Bottle", "I Need Your Love" and "Thinking About You" reached the top 10 in the UK. Harris released his fourth studio album Motion in November 2014. It debuted at number two in the UK and at number five in the US, and became Harris's second consecutive number one album on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album's first three singles "Under Control", "Summer" and "Blame" all topped the UK chart.

Harris has collaborated with numerous other recording artists. His collaboration with Rihanna "We Found Love" became an international success, giving Harris his first US number one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Harris later collaborated with Rihanna on the singles "Where Have You Been" (2012) and "This Is What You Came For" (2016). Harris currently holds the record for the most top 10 songs from one studio album on the UK Singles Chart with nine top 10 entries, surpassing Michael Jackson. In October 2014, he became the first artist to place three songs simultaneously on the top 10 of Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart. He also became the first British solo artist to reach more than one billion streams on Spotify. Harris has received ten Brit Award nominations—three for Best British Male, and four Grammy nominations, winning a Grammy for Best Music Video in 2013. He received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2013 and at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards was named Top Dance/Electronic Artist. Additionally, Harris topped Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid DJs for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015. Harris also runs his own record label, Fly Eye Records.
