Chart Commentary

Trance duo Super8 & Tab claim number one for a second week with 'Burn', our most recent BJSC entry which finished in 21st. It matches former BJSC entry 'Mowgli' by Fatum to become the longest running #1 this year for a trance song (the year's other trance #1, 'My Own Hymn' by Above & Beyond, spent a single week at the top). Jess Glynne holds at #2 with 'All I Am' as Calvin Harris rebounds to #3 with 'Promises', both songs have spent their first 11 weeks in the top five, and 'All I Am' is yet to leave the top three.

Meanwhile MK drops to #4 with 'Back & Forth', and the song has now claimed all top four positions in its first 8 weeks, though its first 5 weeks were spent at #1 giving it a neat 1-2-3-4 run in the past few weeks. Finishing the top five are Sub Focus & Dimension with 'Desire', giving Sub Focus his fifth top five hit but his first in nearly 5 years. It is also the second consecutive top 5 hit for Dimension following 'Black Church' (#3, 2018). The previous top five hits for Sub Focus were; 'Out The Blue' (#4, 2012), 'Tidal Wave' (#4, 2012), 'Endorphins' (#3, 2013) and 'Turn Back Time' (#4, 2013). He also made the top 10 with 'Turn It Around' (#10, 2013).

Denis Kenzo & Kate Miles continue their ascent with 'Guide', currently the second-highest trance song in the chart. It climbs to #7 giving both acts their first top 10 hit. No other songs enter the top 10, though a future contender could come from Alan Walker whose previous single 'Darkside' re-peaks at #13, overtaking current hit 'Diamond Heart' which falls 4 places to #14. Katty Heath continues her climb with 'Connection Through Sound', up 3 to #15. Lucas & Steve climb 4 to #16 with 'Where Have You Been (Anywhere)'.

Dave & Fredo get their first top 20 hits with 'Funky Friday' up 4 to #17. Following last week's debut, Post Malone & Swae Lee jump 15 spots to #18 with 'Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)'. It overtakes the peak of 'Unforgettable' (#20, 2017) to give Swae Lee his highest peak yet, and it gives Post his 5th top 20 hit. Armin van Buuren jumps 13 to #19 with 'Wild Wild Son', and amazingly it is his 14th top 20 hit. It is a great week for him as he also enters at #43 with new single 'Lifting You Higher (ASOT 900 Anthem)', just 2 weeks after 'Wild Wild Son' entered, the man's a machine. Above & Beyond rebound to #20 with 'Always', its highest position since it re-entered the chart 7 weeks ago, though it is yet to reach its original #6 peak.

This week's highest new entry comes from Kygo with 'Happy Now' at #22. Previous singles of his haven't done too well; 'Born To Be Yours' peaked at #93 and 'Remind Me To Forget' failed to chart, but 'Happy Now' features Avicii collaborator Sandro Cavazza and the song also acts as an Avicii tribute, so it is unsurprisingly off to a good start here. It is Kygo's 13th top 40 hit and Sandro's 5th.

Arty re-enters the top 40 at a new peak of #32 with 'Perfect Strangers'. Omnia climbs to #33 with 'For You', getting his first top 40 hit in doing so. Markus Schulz also climbs into the top 40 with 'We Are The Light' at #35, which is his second hit following 'Destiny' (#16, 2016).

Outside the top 40, the BJSC effect sends Angelika Vee and Eric Prydz back into the chart, as well as giving the following minor hits; Metrik, Endor, Chris Lake, Feint, Claudia Cazacu and Slayyter. Other new entries come from Armin van Buuren, Oliver Heldens, Andrew Rayel/Garibay, Rudimental, Ellie Goulding/Diplo and Fatum.
