Building off of Jack's playlist yesterday, here I'll share some other tracks you might not have heard.
I'll start with sone songs from artists you've likely heard of: Chloe X Halle - Do It 21 Savage - Secret (feat. Summer Walker) iLL Blu - Magic (feat. OFB) Ari Lennox - Bussit / BMO (feat. Doja Cat) Bas & Cozz - Don't Hit Me Right Now (feat. Yung Baby Tate, Buddy & Guapdad 4000) Jme - Grime MC (Album) Chloe X Halle are sisters from Atlanta who seem set to breakthrough in the near future. They are singed to Beyonce's label and Halle has been cast as Ariel in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. They make poppy R&B and 'Do It' has been stuck in my head since I first heard it. 21 Savage has previously expressed his love of the genre and now he's made a straight-up R&B track which heavily sampled Xscape's 'My Little Secret. 'Secret' has additional vocals from Summer Walker and is notable for featuring no swears from 21. 'Magic' is the only song here that has actually charted narrowly missing the top 40 for iLL Blu. It features vocals from two members of OFB: Bandokay & Double Lz. It feels like an apt time to share their music as Bandokay is actually the son of Mark Duggan, a black man who was killed by police that started riots here in the UK 9 years ago. J. Cole's label Dreamville released the excellent album 'Revenge Of The Dreamers III' last year and I though I'd highlight some of the tracks from the label. Ari Lennox was someone I already mentioned in the previous recommendation page but listen to 'BMO' & 'Bussit' if you haven't already. They also recently released the video for 'Don't Hit Me Right Now', not one of my absolute faves from the album but still worth sharing. Jme finally released his album Grime MC to streaming surfaces so I thought I'd mention my favourites from the album I've heard so far: '96 Of My Life', 'Pricks', 'You Know' and 'Live'. He's still as witty and clever as ever. Here's some from artists you probably haven't heard before Reese LaFlare - F**k Action MXXWLL - LIGHT TURN GREEN (feat. John Givez, Rae Khalil & Carrtoons) Chimpo - Like I Luv U Reese LaFlare is a rapper from Alabama who has featured on songs with plenty of big artists (including Trippie Redd, Gunna, Pusha T & Young Thug) and claims he discovered Lil Uzi Vert. F**k Action is a melodic, laidback rap track that's perfect for the warm weather. MXXWELL is a producer from Australia who has produced tracks for J. Cole & Ty Dolla $ign. LIGHT TURN GREEN is another track perfect for the summer featuring a nice sung chorus from Rae Kalil. The track is pretty minimalist but features a really interesting breakdown towards the end. Chimpo is a DJ & MC from Manchester who started making music in 2006. 'Like I Luv U' is a garage/jungle inspired massive tune! To finish here's some album tracks that I feel have gone under the radar from recent big releases. DaBaby - Nasty (feat. Ashanti & Megan Thee Stallion) Childish Gambino - 35.31 Drake - Demons (feat. Fivio Foreign & Sosa Geek) |

LOVE Summer Walker, been meaning to check out Chloe & Halle so will check this playlist out! I really loved Playing Games, Something Real and her feature here so Summer Walker is someone who's really exciting me right now. Hope you find some others you like. 'Magic' is a banger *.* Magic is indeed massive. Probably my favourite song any member(s) of OFB have been involved in, even Headie One's best tunes! Thank you both |
