Massive jump for the Ultimate Collection too, from 94 to 51.

Don't know what's caused that.

Norma

probably sale price

great that shine and pateince are still top 75,both singles have around 40 weeks each on th echart which will really help push them up th echart of having total career weeks on the top 75 plus i think rule the world will have about 30 chart weeks within the top 75 also

No - sale price has nothing to do with Ultimate Collection - its back up to its normal price (round about 11.95 most places). It must be the Brit Effect, people have got Beautiful World - after giving the 'boy band' a chance and now perhaps they want to hear some of the earlier stuff.

Norma

I don't think RTW will ever catch up with Patience now (now not far off half-million sales, RTW has about 150,000 copies to sell to catch up). I'm quite glad really - if I'm being honest, it really isn't as good as Patience - or rather - I don't like it quite as much as Patience.

Norma

Posted by: Shameless 26th January 2008, 07:28 PM

i didnt think there was as much a gap as 150,000,rule the world is still top 20 in the UK so i thnk it has about another 50,000 sales left in it,it will come close but considering patience was the comeback song and not on an album when released rule the world has done really really well as 4th single,if it had been the first single it may have sold better than patience

But Rule The World was not a 4th single from the Beautiful World album - it was released as a stand-alone single. It only made its way onto the BW album at its 'deluxe' stage. I doubt it will get anywhere near Patience (which was still in the iTunes download chart a whole 14 months after its release, up to a few weeks ago). And quite rightly so - Patience is, for me anyway, leagues ahead of Rule The World. If I'm being honest - I prefer Reach Out to RTW.

Kathy

Posted by: Shameless 26th January 2008, 08:01 PM

i love patience nyself and i love rule the world i dont know which i truly prefer but i love both,i dont mean 4th single as in 4th single of an album its the fourth single since they reformed patience had the advanatge as it was the comeback single gaining alot more hype etc ,i like reach out myself which should have been a single instead of id wait for life but reach out isnt nearly as good as rule the world or patience or shine for that matter

I'm impressed with the Ultimate Collection's continued climbs over the past few weeks. Especially as its full price (incidentally - BW is no longer a cheap buy - so that's done well to stay as high as it has).

Norma

Well they've sold about 60,000 in 2008 (only about 9 thousand less than Leon - and RTW has been out much longer!) Added to their sales from 2007 and I reckon it isn't that far off 400,000.

Albums are still going ok. BW only fell 6 while Ultimate Collection fell 5.

Hope they win something at the Brits but I've got a nasty feeling they'll leave empty-handed. Having said that - I'm sure Gary will enjoy being able to getting totally rat-*rsed this year as they're not performing.

I've got a strong feeling that RTW creeping up again is more due to the effect of the release of the Stardust DVD rather than the Brits effect (which would have happened last week).

Norma

One of our Irish friends on Trousers has just posted us that - good to hear. I'm pretty sure it'll be number one here in the UK too. With Stardust being the number one in the Film DVD chart - Take That will, in effect, have two contributions in the DVD chart!

Well on Play.com top sellers list this week:

1. Stardust
2. Take That Beautiful World Live
3. Ratatouille
4. Atonement
5. Oceans 13

So if Beautiful World Tour DVD is up there amongst actual 'film' releases - when you narrow it down to just music alone - I suppose Take That must be number 1.

Norma

Beautiful World is up to 16 and Never Forget is a non-mover at 33. With RTW up again and the DVD almost certainly to be number one in the music dvd chart (hopefully announced tomorrow) - not a bad week's work for the lads.

It looks like if they bring up-to-date the albums of the decade - Beautiful World could well be inside the top 10!

And some nay-sayers gave them 6 months tops in mid 2006! Daft really - considering they're far better and more successful now than they were the first time round.

Norma

Posted by: Shameless 2nd March 2008, 07:48 PM

their success this time is beyond what anyone including themsleves ever thought, the greatest hits and beautiful world in total will be around 4 million by the time they finish and that is amazing

3 huge huhe selling singles also ,i think patience and rule the world mae the top 3 best selling take that singles along with back for good??? am i right??

I really like IWFL sung on the tour - it is speeded up a little - and all four voices come in almost straight away - much better than the single release (which to be honest - I don't really like and it was a poor choice).

The only down-side of all this success is that tickets for the next concert (hoping they do one in 2010) will be even harder to come by! I may even resort to doing something that I vowed I would never do - not even for ELO (and I'd do anything for Jeff Lynne) - and that is camp out for tickets! Or pay someone to do it for me! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Norma

Posted by: Shameless 2nd March 2008, 10:06 PM

ya the more success means tickets are far harder to get, still seeing do so well is great on the other hand.

if wait for life was a bad choice fr a single as the song was far far to slow and even to slow for radio play,i did think at the time that they would have enough of a loyal fan base at the time to seee it into the top 10 though

Honestly though - on the tour - its a pretty good performance (by all of them). Also - after all the frenetic energy they'd spent on Reach Out and It Only Takes a Minute - I think they all needed a breather!

Shameless - If they do the Odyssey again ... I'd recommend that venue. Its a lovely, smaller venue and the tiers aren't like Mount Bloody Everest like they are at the MEN and The O2. Also - if you're seats are a bit stifling - see the customer services to be re-located - they'll most likely put you in a more comfortable place ... also a good idea to check where the first aiders are. You must see them!

I don't know how accurate this is:

I got info on BFI certification from Wikipedia
Comeback sales from Buzzjack chart pages.

STUDIO ALBUMS

Take That and Party
* BPI certification: 2× platinum

Everything Changes
* BPI certification: 3× platinum

Nobody Else
* BPI certification: 2× platinum

That's 7 x platinum total shipped or 2.1 million

COMEBACK STUDIO ALBUM

Beautiful World has sold over 2.2 million

'BEST OF' ALBUMS

Take That: Greatest Hits
* BPI certification: 3× platinum

COMEBACK 'BEST OF' ALBUM

Never Forget has sold just under 1.5 million

Total comeback sales: 3.7 million

Pre-comeback BPI certification: 3 million

I noticed they went up on iTunes over Friday and Saturday. Mid-week they were scheduled to drop eight places and in the end they only dropped 5. Just one more week in the top 40 would be great but I don't see it happening. Hopefully they'll stay in the top 75 for at least another 6 weeks though.

I doubt it will. It has definitely run out of all steam now. Its had a good run. Until their next material is released all my interest is in the DVD now - hope it holds on to a ninth week at number 1 tomorrow. I went to a book fair yesterday and bought three Take That Videos (Greatest Hits, Hometown Manchester concert and Everything Changes for £1!) Glad I got them but they are so much better today. I thought the Hometown Manchester one was so boring - they definitely have more energy today than they had then ... they hardly moved around the stage! Howard's cowboy chaps were ace though!

Well RTW went up from 93 to 77 on the iTunes chart just tonight. Every little contribution helps I suppose. Beautiful World has gone up on the iTunes download chart too - to 56 but I don't know how much impact the download chart has on the album chart proper, itself.

Someone (Euro Music I think) posted some artists who've been in the top 200 for 50 odd weeks or more - no mention of Take That - so I've asked for confirmation - but I'm sure I don't need to as I'm certain Patience has been in the top 200 for over 70 weeks and Shine for over 50 weeks.

I've just noticed a post in one of the regular threads too - vidcapper has posted that RTW has actually stayed at number 83 for five consecutive weeks.

Oh - and on the DVD front - its still inside the top 10! Absolutely incredible. I wonder if Boyzone's dvd will do as well? laugh.gif laugh.gif

Still top 100 though. But Rihanna's Umbrella is still in the 100 which is absolutely amazing - it must be nearly a year if not past that already!

RTW and Patience are both in the top 20 for songs of the decade!

Surprised that Shine is as low as it is (although still in the 200) given that it is the most performed song of the last year and the 7th most performed of the last 5 years.

The particular chart is going on 'top 10' success and although Shine has spent more time in the 200 than say, Patience - it didn't hang around in the top 10 for as long.

I will love RTW to climb in the charts, but I must admit I didn't liked Revelation , or better said the solist wacko.gif . I love choir music, but that was most of the time solist (who didn't sang too great) with background singers.

Now "Shine" sung for all that 5 choirs was to die for! wub.gif

And yet you wouldn't believe the number of people on Youtube who've said that he's a 'brilliant' singer - and that he sings it better than Take That. They must be deaf because he's one of the worst singers I've ever heard. In fact the whole show is a bit awful - the only truly good choir I've heard on the show is the choir from Northern Ireland.

Norma

Posted by: IrisAlbastru 3rd August 2008, 09:46 AM

Oh yes, I saw the comments on youtube. But there are also a lot of people who said that Thomas Godoj was better (he is a german "X-factor"-similar DSDS winner) and he is a good singer BUT he sung it out-of-tune many times! blink.gif

Sometimes people see only what they want to see. If they think that an ex-boy-band is too much under their level they will rate more a choir, esp. for those snobs who bangs about liking only classic or rock music and hating pop-music rolleyes.gif .

Hehe, I didn't like TT the first time, but today they make good music ( yes pop-music, but when is good music I am not interested which kind it is). As long as they make this good music I will buy and listen to it dance.gif . That doesn't mean that I will like all the ex-boy-bands reunited as man-bands thought I will give all a chance and listen rolleyes.gif .

I only caught on to them this time, even though, the first time I had to reluctantly admit that Back For Good, Pray and Never Forget were quite exquisite songs.

I just think their success this time round is quite astounding - its even more satisfying to know that they are more successful this time - without Robbie 'I was always the talented one in the band' Williams. So they can survive without him!

I must try and find out total sales for rule the world ultimate collection patience and beautiful world

Where do you find that stuff out though? I keep trying to tot up where BW must be via David's Top 40 albums thread - it seems to be selling a steady 2,000 per week and has been doing for a good few weeks. Doubtless when the new album is released - we may see Beautiful World on offer for £3 or £4 - so it has a chance of going top 30 again nearer Christmas.

No idea on the singles - except that RTW must have overtaken Patience by now - if it hasn't already sold half a million - it can only be a copy or two short of it.

Norma

Posted by: X=The-One 6th August 2008, 06:45 PM

what is great about take that is since they retirned we all know the music singles sales have dropped yet they have managed 2 singles to sell around half a million each and an other that sold around 300,000 to get such sale sin this era is amazing i think

yes i agree when the new album is released i think we will see beautiful world and the ultimate colelction rocket up the charts again,,both albums wil lsell and sell for a long time yet

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 10th August 2008, 09:45 PM

See Beautiful World is back in at 69 even though RTW has dropped to 71.

Norma

Posted by: X=The-One 11th August 2008, 11:25 PM

im so happy that both are still charting considering how well they have sold and how long its been since they were released it shows what great staying power they have

And as well as BW being back in the 75 at 69 - The Ultimate Collection went up from 95 to 82.

RTW is still not finished in the iTunes chart either - it was as high as the 70's on Sunday night (although its dropped back to the 90's now). A few more injections of Last Choir Standing should see a few more sales going its way - and also - there are bound to be people singing (or trying to sing it) on the X Factor when it starts - and thats usually good for business.

Norma

ya a few x factor attempts wud be a great help also and as u mention it i can see it happening

RTW is still hovering in the 50's at the moment - so it should still be top 75 in the chart come Sunday.

Shine's back in as well (but only in the 100's).

Norma

RTW has just gone up on iTunes a couple of places ... not ground-breaking news - but it is unusual. Ordinarily it goes steadily down from Sunday onwards.

Norma

That is possible, now is #66, just one week to 40 weeks, we will see in Sunday.

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 3rd September 2008, 09:12 PM

I'm getting a bit impatient now though for some new stuff. Did you have a look at that 'gossip' thread I posted? At least it was a bit of news about them rehearsing (even if it is just NME goss).

Norma

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 4th September 2008, 09:05 AM

Bryn Christopher seems to be doing OK on iTunes at the moment (at number 23 with 'Smiling'). Bryn is the first artist to be signed to Gary Barlow's publishing company (San Remo - established to give chances to unsigned songwriters).

RTW is actually at 34 in iTunes this morning and the album version is at 107!

Dropped a bit now - to 36 from 28 last night (but only a slight drop compared to previous ones). They've still got the OST version in the top 120 as well.

Norma

Leona is still way ahead with the bulk of sales at the very beginning ... but over the next year or so ... I still don't think RTW will catch up with it. BTW - what do you think of her new song? I think its a bit crass really (but I didn't dare say that on the 'predict' thread - although I did say - quite correctly - that it'll go to number 1) I think 99% of Buzzjack would love anything she did. I'd really like her not to get to number one though ... the song is truly average. I think its the link with Akon that does it for me ... I can't stand Akon!

Norma

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th September 2008, 09:00 PM

i dont mind the song funny thing with leona is i dont mind her but my faveourite song of hers is better in time the only one of her 3 singles not to get to number 1,,,the new single will prob get number 1 with ease and i wudnt be at all surprised if her album goes back to number 1 when the new edition is released to

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 16th September 2008, 09:53 PM

Expect a bit of a huge drop tomorrow (iTunes has been frozen for at least the last 30 hours). So although RTW is still showing as 36 - it is more likely in the 70's or 80's by now!

Norma

(Still on course for inside the top 75 this Sunday though)

And back to the months thing ... let's make sure January wins - I'm around for about the next 20 minutes!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th September 2008, 09:59 PM

yes im all for the months winning and also once rule the world is top 75 im happywith that

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 17th September 2008, 10:49 AM

Mid-weeks show it is still top 30's. If they can just hang on long enough to drop no lower than 40 ... just for a mention on the chart show (I don't mind if they don't play it - as we'll have the new stuff soon) as long as it gets a mention!

Norma

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th September 2008, 10:01 PM

RTW still hanging on in there in the download chart - up from mid 60's yesterday to 57 today! I know it won't make much difference but according to Mart!n, it is still set to be inside the 60 come Sunday. And you never know .... it may get an X-Factor boost this weekend!

Norma

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 24th September 2008, 11:15 AM

Top 60 would still be great as the song is within the top 75 for 45 weeks now and even longer top 100,,so all these weeks are bonuses and they help bring their total of weeks spent on chart well up in the guinness book of recorsd although they are way down the list

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 25th September 2008, 06:38 PM

Mid 60's now on iTunes. At least their X Factor boost lasts longer than most - Leon is totally out of the iTunes 120 now! I don't think he'll be troubling the top 40 on Sunday and with a bit of luck Take That may still be inside the top 60 proper.

Norma

Dropped into the 50's now. To be expected I suppose. I see it being mid 70's on iTunes by the end of the week and come Sunday's chart it may be inside the top 50 but more realistically inside the 60. Remember - Leon had a huge boost on iTunes last week but he fell so much after the surge that he only ended up a re-entry at 93 when mid-week predicted he would be top 40.

Dropped quite considerably on iTunes though (despite a brief rise yesterday). Should be safely inside the 50 in the proper chart on Sunday though (higher if it is played somewhere on Saturday).

On another matter if you get the chance - BBC3 on Saturday, 9.15 pm - second half of the 100 most annoying pop moments. I think Take That are in there somewhere and Robbie is somewhere quite near the top of the list! laugh.gif

Norma

Boyzone still at 10 on iTunes. I saw the video again today as I was hoovering! If that was a sample of the dancing they did on this tour ... then the audience must have been truly riveted! Take That are ten years older than these fellas and yet have more energy in them than 21 year-olds!

Norma

i predict number 11 for boyzone this week

I think they'll still be inside top 10 in the Sunday chart then after that it'll drop right out of the top 20. I doubt it'll hang round the top 75 for more than 10 weeks in total.

Norma

I think it was played on You've Been Framed or something like that last Saturday. It is still holding up well on iTunes (funnily enough - it is now about 15 places ahead of the Boyzone single).

Norma

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th November 2008, 09:50 AM

its no surprise its ahead of boyzone,,over alli dont think the boyzone comeback in terms of music sales has been all that successfull

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th November 2008, 12:12 AM

rule the world moves up 12 places to number 55 now,,,and with it being take that week on x factor i think this song could well go top 40 again sunday week if someones performs it,,rule the world has stayed in the top 100 for almost a year and most of that has been in the top 75 its success its ssimply brilliant and for me its classic take that song and will forever be in my top 3 take that songs and probably my number 1

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 22nd November 2008, 09:04 PM

I'll send you that tomorrow! I need to have a think of which Beatles, ELO and Level 42 songs I like best ... then I'll have to seek out two other artists - probably Stevie Wonder and I've got a feeling Coldplay's Viva La Vida is going to make up the five! I've played that song about 12 times today on the way to work and back!

Norma

Im still getting over how successful there whole comeback has been - I mean since 2005/6

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th November 2008, 11:04 PM

ya it really has been huge in every aspect as they tours the albums and the singles hav ebeen huge,,the press is 100% positive they have gained a whole new audience as well as the audience they had and they are so in demand

Posted by: designer_label 30th November 2008, 11:05 PM

And people actually respect them unlike they do with most boybands - like westlife for example yes they are popular but they do get teased alot

TT never do

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th November 2008, 11:07 PM

ya they are alot more respected now than they ever were and get more respect than any boyband,,i would have hated their comeback to have ended up like boyzones and end up lame

I think we'll have a better idea of that by the mid-weeks - but I really have a bad feeling that their journey to the million mark is going to be as slow as Coldplay's was! Don't tell Locott that though - he already thinks I'm a harbinger of doom and gloom! I can't help it .... I'm a Capricorn ... we're notoriously miserable!

Norma

Posted by: locott 8th December 2008, 07:45 PM

LOl, Norma! This time i have to agree with you though. I for one thought they could at least beat Coldplay and become the 2nd bestselling band of all time but it never happened. Mind you, those sales figures still look tremendous but i still slightly gutted.
Besides, it looks like yesterday's show hasn't had an impact yet..not on Itunes as Greatest Day is only at 3d place at the moment.

It would be comforting to think that the 'stock' problem earlier last week may have affected the sales but I doubt that would account for more than 25,000 so they still wouldn't have snuck up in second place behind Oasis for that record! sad.gif Would have been nice ... two north-west, working class bands in 1st and 2nd! But it wasn't to be. I'm so disappointed with the impact of the show last night (or lack of it) on iTunes. Especially as Britney 'Mimes 'R Us' Spears will move in front of them by tomorrow after Harry Hill is seen in his (rather fetching I must admit) blond wig in the repeat of his show tonight!

We can take consolation in that The Circus beats Circus hands-down ... but I do fear for that '1,000,000 by Christmas' hope!

Norma

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 9th December 2008, 10:46 PM

yes it would have nice for the album to be top 2 but they have done in credibly well and the album looks set to be a huge seller again this week after this week it has 2 more weeks left of sales and im sure it will pass the million mark by year end

I expect to see sales for The Circus as low as 40K to be honest ... it was really low midweek for all artists - singles and albums!

Sales will pick up once they've released the next single (assuming it is Up All Night) if it is any other song - I think sales may very well come to a standstill! laugh.gif

didnt they sell 10,000 on tuesdays midweeks??going by that it should be around 60,000 overall but as i said i wont be shocked if the sales are low and we cant complain really as even as it stands the album has sold very well

they would be crazy not to release up all night as the 2nd single,,if it is the 2nd singles the album will fly well past 2 million with ease

I think on the Tuesday mid-week (which actually arrived later but was taken to be to close of play Monday) it was actually about 16K - quite a drop from the previous week's sales - but in general ALL sales were low. I can see the second single (again if it is UAN) putting at least another 100,000 on the sales of the album. I know there is another song on there that you seem to like ... but if they release that one it would have dire results. Just as ... as much as I love the track 'The Circus' - to release that as a single would be suicide also.

You see you and Iris are the only people (apart from a load of Mark fans on the Take That official site) that like Julie. Everyone else I know hates it and thinks it and What Is Love really let down an otherwise pretty splendid album. If they release it as a single ... I certainly won't buy it - I'll see if the b side is any good and then download that one separately.

My little boy said to me today 'mum ... I hope you don't mind, but apart from She Said and Greatest Day ... I don't like Take That's new album'. I said 'that's ok love' before dropping him off at the bus stop to make his own way home!

Ireland Chart Positions for this week

The Circus falls 3 places to number 4
Ultimate Collection climbs 25 places to number 46
Beautiful World climbs 33 places to number 51

Greatest Day Down 3 places to number 10
Rule The World falls 4 places to number 50

I think Take That have been very fortunate with the chart position with Greatest Day. I mean I suppose it was expected to make the number 1 ... even for one week, but I'm surprised it has stuck around for as long as it has.

Still ... Up All Night will make things better when that is released! I swear though Pete - if they release Julie ... I'm seriously going to lose faith in them!

No, the more I hear Julie the more I hate it. It just sounds so amateurish - it could have been written by a spotty, love-lorn sixth-former with an incredibly awful feel for lyrics. We were watching Take That Comes To Town last night and even my husband commented how awful it is. Its those 'sha la la's. If they release it as a single - they may as well sign their own death warrants as an act now.

Unfortunately this is true! Mind you ... I suppose as Gary seemed to take all the flack for the failure of IWFL ... maybe it would be justice for Mark to see that he too can have a Take That flop! laugh.gif

RTW has dropped to the 50's. A bad week really!

Norma

well considering the sales that is behind each release so far i think they are all holding up very very well

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 11th January 2009, 08:13 PM

Also in Music Week I note that NF the Ultimate Collection is tops in the 'catalogue' albums - compilations of best of by one artist.

Norma

id love to know its total sales now as its been selling the whole way through

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 11th January 2009, 08:28 PM

I think I'm beginning to go off Take That a bit now. I don't play them nearly as much in the car. I've started playing my Beatles & ELO CD's lately ... my Maroon 5 Songs About Jane has been on almost constantly too. Even the iPod my husband got me for Christmas has not one Take That song on! He loaded Beatles, ELO, Stranglers, Beautiful South ... and I wasn't even angry that he hadn't put a solitary TT song on!

I think my only true musical love (which has never waned in over 30 years) is Jeff Lynne & ELO!

I'm just wondering how much I could get for my Circus Tour tickets now! I think I'm going to go and do some research! The Saturday one is seated (and bloody good seats too!)

Norma

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th January 2009, 08:30 PM

You probably over done on Take That i find if i ever listen to someone too much i go off them for a while,,i have very varied music taste so im always rotating plus i always have mixed cd;s aswell so i dont over listen to anyone,,im enjoying the music hugely at the moment by take that

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 11th January 2009, 08:33 PM

It was my 50th today so I think I'm way too old for liking them now. I think I may buy a Montavani or Matt Monroe album! I may even buy a Robbie Swing album - I think my age group is more for that kind of thing!

Norma

the circus is numbe r12 in the latest midweeks, album sales are so low all round so things wont pick up til the brits and up all night hits the radio

In Ireland this week greatest day falls 8 places to number 19 and the circus falls 5 places to number 12

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 23rd January 2009, 10:08 PM

Not bad falls to be honest. UAN should see the album rise a lot (even though we'll have to wait until March to see it). I'm not too concerned about Greatest Day ... it has run its course and I don't mind if it disappears altogether now if I'm honest!

Norma

Posted by: Rule The World 23rd January 2009, 10:11 PM

i agree greatest day has done great and has been a number 1 hit so we cant complain, the album should get a boost from the brit awards also and once up all night goes to radio the album will pick up again

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 23rd January 2009, 10:14 PM

Greatest Day did it's bit. We all know it wasn't the best song on the album ... but we all knew that no matter what ... the first single would sell well ... so lets hold back some of the best in reserve .... like Up All Night!

They're going fine ... I'm starting to renew my faith in them!

Norma

Posted by: Rule The World 23rd January 2009, 10:16 PM

I NEVER LOST MY FAITH IN THEM!!!I READ somewhere in the last few days and i cant remember where i read it but jason said greatest day is his least faveourite song on the album

That's great ... to be perfectly honest ... I'm surprised GD is still in the top 40 so it has done far better than I thought it would ever do! Good that RTW is still inside the top 75. Great album position for BW too! As you've said in the other thread ... The Circus will rise after The Brits, whether they win anything or not!

Norma

Posted by: Rule The World 25th January 2009, 10:58 PM

but been honest im not worried about the circus as it has sold amazingly well so far and anything else is just a bonus and i think it probably has about another million sales left in yet.....the circus so far has more than any of their old albums and they are still deemed as very successful albums,,

the great thing is really that Take That have now released 5 studio albums and 2 offical greatest hits and all 7 albums have been a massive success as have most of their singles and they are definitly a band that will be remembered for many years to come

Well Corrie has been good enough to beat EE in the ratings these last few weeks. Deservedly so too! Pete I can't believe you like EE as much as you do ... its dreadful! Although Janine is a welcome return - they should really kill off Dot though ... she's had her day. She was awful in it to begin with.

That's not bad going at all!

I'm glad UAN seems to be holding back on the download front (the fans seem to be waiting for the physical release to coincide with it). Although as the physical sales seem to make little difference ... I can't see it changing much. I still think it'll be top 5 (and hopefully be a 'stayer' unlike Greatest Day) but all hope has faded now of a number one.

Norma

i wouldnt rule number 1 completly out yet although looking on the hmv website up all night is priced at £3.49 while alot of other singles are £0.99 and £1.99

Posted by: IrisAlbastru 7th February 2009, 11:58 PM

Well, as the most of the chart is made from downloads and only the hard fans buy the CD, i think they have chances to be top 3.

Speaking of CD, does anyone want to swap CDs? I want badly the "Up all night" one, but if i buy through amazon it won't count to the charts. I will offer a CD with "The Garden" instead, wenn it cames out on 20th march teresa.gif .

i was gonna buy of hmv online would you not be able to use that as that counts towards the charts i think?

As i know the downloads and buyers from outside UK also when they buy from UK online seller don't count to the charts.

Sad to say, but from what i know, only what is sell in UK is in UK charts (and they know that very easily from the address they delivering to). It is very complicated, mind you, perhaps they changed the rules...

Well I'm not paying £3.49 for it unless it has a truly fantastic 'bonus' track ... preferably two for that price! Iris - I'll still get yours for the swap! If I can download the bonus track or 'b' side for 79p I'll do that. I'm afraid they're not even going to make the top 10 playing these silly games! And to be honest ... they deserve a kick up the backside for this.

I think that price is absolutely extortionate.

Up All Night though, continues to plummet in the download chart! Gary Go on the other hand is doing really well ... he's already gone past them! Deserves it ... good song and a good video. At the rate UAN is going ... RTW will pass it soon on iTunes! This could be quite a disastrous flop for them ... I still don't think it'll make the top 10 when the physical comes out. They're on Ant & Dec on Saturday but after that they've got nothing lined up (by way of a group) in promotion for the song. Gary is on GMTV on Monday - but it'll be to talk more about the Kili climb. After that they can't do anything as a foursome until he gets back - earliest 9th March.

Norma

dont be so negative,up all night will do well, gary go is getting alot of hype at the mo so of course he is doing better plus his song is not from a 1.5 million selling album

I'm shocked that Up All Night has gone all the way up to number 15 on iTunes! Nothing at all had happened up to this morning - it was still a measley 37. Then when I got back tonight I saw it had several jumps.

Poor Gary Go has gone down though! Hope he'll go up again after today's chart show.

Norma

Posted by: Rule The World 24th February 2009, 08:46 AM

well we will find out today where it lies in the mid weeks which will give a good indication of what will be its peak position

Posted by: Rule The World 24th February 2009, 11:08 AM

number 17 in the midweeks pirate.gif

Posted by: Norma_Snockers 24th February 2009, 05:41 PM

It's hovering at about 15 in the iTunes chart (actually dropped but then went back up one). It won't repeat IWFL - but I still doubt it'll make top 10. I think even you're beginning to doubt it now Peter aren't you? I'm actually going on U2's performance. They were about the same position as Take That on iTunes (actually a bit higher) and were also the number one act in physical sales - yet it still wasn't enough to dent the top 10.

Norma

Posted by: Renee98 24th February 2009, 08:03 PM

I'm still hoping for a miracle - top 10 would be nice. Do you think it is because of the release date? too many people already have the song? not enough promo? people don't like the song? I just don't understand. It's my favorite...so much better than Greatest Day.

It appears to be one of those songs that you either love or hate - while Greatest Day was more of a song that really people felt indifferent about. Many things contributing to it not getting a high placing ... the sales of the album, dreadful timing of the release which has resulted in precious little promotion. Gary has been tied up with this Comic Relief thing which he seems to be more excited about than the promotion of the single. For instance he's been on three shows in the last couple of days and hasn't even spoken about the song ... it was all about the Kilimanjaro climb. Also ... there are some good songs out there in competition - and one crap one that will get to number one because it is for the Comic Relief charity (so I doubt Take That are bothered about that). Shame that it won't be a bigger hit than it should be. Apart from the hidden track on The Circus, Up All Night is my favourite song.

I must remember to get Iris her copy of it and put it in the post! Pete ... remind me next Sunday / Monday will you? I'm probably not going to buy the physical myself - I'm not too keen on the B side (even though everyone on the Take That forum is raving about it ... its pretty average sounding to me - mind you ... I've only heard 30 seconds of it! laugh.gif )

Norma

for me the phyisical will cost me about e10 to get as i have to buy cd singles online and they are all from the uk,i will have downloaded it as i want to support it but my download onloy counts to the irish chart which isnt that important overall,i will try and remind you of that on sunday but im so forgetful half thetime its frightening!!

i hope up all night makes top 15 even on sunday and the phyisical will see it top 10 i still remain confident of a top 10 hit,,the circus is climbing though its number 11 in the midweeks so that quite good as it will prob be back in the top 10 again soon

Yet again its quite a good week for Take That in the charts

Up all night up 20 places to number 17
Greatest Day non mover at number 52
Rule The World drops just 1 place to number 73(this chart run amazes me yet)

The Circus climbs 8 places to number 8
Beautiful World drops 3 places to number 55
Ultimate Collections climbs 3 places to number 58

Im very happy overall with the positions and greatest day now has a fairly respectable chart run still next week im hoping to be seeing UP ALL NIGHT becoming their 18th top 10 hit even happier if it was their 16th top 5/3 hit and even more delighted if it became their 12th number 1

Well we can safely say it won't make the top 10 now! It isn't even number 1 on physicals - I could understand The Saturdays being number 1 on physicals ... but Will Young is actually ahead of Take That on the physical front. Maybe they should quietly retire after the next tour! laugh.gif

Norma

Will young has a limited release of 5,000 pyisical copies so his fans will have rushed out to make sure they get there copy..again i say please have faith in take that they are one of the biggest acts around right now sell out tours and huge selling albums and retire quetly is mentioned i really think things should be taking into perspective, and number 12 isnt brilliant but its hardly number 100

Better as i thought for TT in Germany. In today-newpapers is written that they sold over 100000 lbums (gold). I think that if they will do well with the Garden, that will improve also the album sales.

I will buy the single for me only if it is a new b-side.

Norma there are two version of the single. One is 2-track with 84. For the second i don't know at the moment. When it will be known, you have to tell me which one you will like to have. I still hope they will have a new b-side on it.

Iris - I'll wait and see what the other option is. I really don't like 84 - so I'd rather not have that one.

I got your single today and I'm bubble-wrapping it tonight and posting it tomorrow. You should get it pretty quickly. I posted something to Pete in Ireland a while back and I think it took less than a week (airmail) but I think the post to mainland Europe is a bit quicker.

I haven't even heard this Flo Rida song so I can't comment on it. Someone commented that they hadn't seen the Saturdays single in Tescos - and I went to our large Tescos in Wigan tonight ... and they weren't stocking it there either ... so maybe that is having an effect. I honestly can't see the point in charity songs when less than £1 of the £3.99 goes to the charity. I'd say ... tune in to Comic Relief on 13th March and donate money there ... or just do it at the bank or post office ... and then download the Depeche Mode version (even though I don't like that one either).

Beautiful World climbs 10 places to number 73

Disappointing in some area;s and a lot chirpier in others!!

Looks like up all night wont make the uk top 10 this week as its number 13 in the midweeks, fingers crossed it will do it next week

I think it might do a bit better next week what with Gary being back in the UK and them performing on Comic Relief.

I actually like the B track now I've heard it a few times but I'm peeved that online stores don't appear to be selling it yet as I like to get them together. Maybe I'm just being awkward as I know it's on the CD but I stopped buying single CDs a long time ago. All that would happen is it would get burned to my computer and then be a fancy looking coaster which seems like a waste. Unless it has extras or it's an album I really don't want the damn things everywhere.

Ah well. Think I might cheer myself up and get Kelly Clarkson's song. Only 29p at Amazon UK music store!

29P is for nothing but how do they manage to make profit from that is beyond me,,as for cd sisngles i love them and i miss being abale to be them whenever i like they are getting harder and harder to get which is a shame,,ya i really hope it can improve next weel andi hope comic releif performance can help it top 10

Can I just say that I think the quite awful video did very little to help this song?

The video didnt help to much as its not great but at the end of the day i love the song myself and it puts a smile on my face, the song will sell reasonably well and stick around for a few weeks, yes i would have loved a huge hit and maybe it will climb again next week, but on the other hand up all night has brought a bit of negativity to the forum that in a way i wish it was never released and take that fans had it as a hidden gem if you bought the album.

For me i love the circus album and im loving the choices of 2nd and 3rd singles and even if the graden flops i wont wprry too much as i have said before Take That are now considered a huge albums band and they are shifting albums quite well in huge numbers, the circus will go on to sell 2 million in the uk and not many bands can manage 2 consecutive albums that sell 2 million plus and eventually the ultimate collection will pass the 2 million mark as i think its near 1.8 million now and when that happens they will definitly be very high on the list of artists who managed 3 consecutive albums to sell 2 million plus each. Its facts like that that make me so proud of take that phase 2,also dvd sales and concert sales just show how massive take that phase 2 really is.

At this stage they have nothing to prove as they have done so much and for me i hope they continue on for quite a few years yet as they are still deleivering quallity albums, but if they do call it a day again after studio album 3 i will be quite happy having 6 great studio albums by them and 2 quality greatest hits packagaes by them.

Long live Take That!!!!!
