Doctor Blind Chart - 27th August 2017

Italian producer Pietro Iannuzzi (aka Indian Wells) remains atop the chart with instrumental “Cascades”, the first single to be taken from forthcoming album Where The World Ends which is released on 8th September. He faces increasingly tough competition however from yet another instrumental, Four Tet's “Two Thousand And Seventeen” which rises 3 places to #2 this week. Kieran Hebden started out in post-rock babd Fridge at the end of the 1990s but rose to prominence with his solo material as Four Tet and now comfortably claims his biggest hit to-date with a good chance of going to #1 in September.

Three new songs make the top tier this week meaning there are a number of premature exits for the likes of “Second 2 None” (by Mura Masa and Christine and the Queens; down 7-12 after just 2 weeks in the Top 10) and “Don't Get Captured” (by Run The Jewels; down 10-17). Subverting gender stereotypes for new single “Boys” 25-year-old Charli XCX secures her first Top 10 hit in over 2 years by posting a 11-7 climb and is joined by fellow English singer/songwriter Jessie Ware whose new single “Midnight” leaps 14-9 to become her tenth Top 10 hit; her first - “Strangest Feeling” - got there almost 6 years ago in December 2011. Finally, New Yorkers Grizzly Bear post their third Top 10 hit with “Neighbors”; the third single from new set Painted Ruins which was released last month, it jumps 14-8 and becomes their biggest hit since “Yet Again” spent a month at number 1 almost exactly 5 years ago in September 2012.

A fairly quiet week with 7 new entries but none registering any higher than 40. The highest debut is therefore for Southend-on-Sea band The Horrors' “Something To Remember Me By” which precedes forthcoming fifth album V, which has a kind of synthpop sound reminiscent of the likes of Cut Copy and New Order. Following closely behind is another new single by Belfast electronic duo Andy Ferguson and Matt McBriar (aka Bicep) - “Glue” debuts at 41. The remaining new entries are from Mogwai (“Party In The Dark” at 43), alt-J (“Deadcrush” at 45), Steven Wilson with Ninet Tayeb (“Pariah” at 46), Ardyn (“Throwing Stones” at 47) and Beck (“Dear Life” at 49)

Hey Dr,

Not actually sure if I've ever commented on one of your charts before. ohmy.gif

Like the colourful layout. happy.gif

My personal highlights this week would be Charli XCX, Arcade Fire, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lorde and Dua Lipa.

There's a lot of music in your chart for me to discover which is always a good thing! cheer.gif
