21. Eight Days A Week (1964) / Beatles for Sale 5/17 votes Just missing out on a spot in the top 20 is 'Eight Days A Week'. This song was not released as a single in the U.K. but did appear on the album 'Beatles for Sale'. However, it was released as a single in the U.S. and became their latest chart topper on the Billboard Hot 100. The most impressive feat about this song for me is that it was The Beatles' 7th and final song to reach #1 in the space of a year. 7 chart toppers in such a short amount of time?! That's insane! Bravo to them. There are two different stories about how the title 'Eight Days A Week' came to fruition. One is that it was the latest malapropism (ooh, love a media studies word) to come from Ringo, who also came up with 'A Hard Day's Night' and would later coin 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. However, Ringo himself disputes this. Another story, which came from Paul, is that he had heard it from a chauffeur who was driving him to Lennon's house while he was banned from driving. Either way, it suited the very overworked Beatles at the time. Although, the lyrics talk about loving someone for eight days a week, rather than working for that long! Aside from the unique title, something else that's interesting about 'Eight Days A Week' is that it was the first ever pop song to use a fade-in technique! 'Eight Days A Week' continues to live on now, as a documentary-film that followed the group's touring years was released a few years ago under the name of the song title. The promotional video (embedded above... can we just appreciate the quality of it?! God bless 35mm film cameras) that was shot for it features footage from their iconic Shea Stadium show and Beatlemania is clearly in full swing, with screaming audiences and fainting girls. However, this video is made up of a series of clips, none of which are 'Eight Days A Week'. This is because the group never actually performed it live, instead there was one mimed performance of it on TV (for Thank Your Lucky Stars) which is sadly considered lost footage. Paul would eventually perform it live in 2013 at one of his solo tours though! Next up... top 20 time 21. Eight Days A Week | 5/17 votes 22. From Me To You | 4/21 votes (original vote) / 10/16 votes (tie-break round) 23. Get Back | 5/17 votes 24. The Long And Winding Road | 4/20 votes 25. She Loves You | 6/21 votes 26. Lady Madonna | 6/21 votes 27. The Ballad Of John And Yoko | 7/25 votes Please vote for your least favourite single from the 20 above! |

A nice enough song there but not a particular favourite! 'Beatles For Sale' doesn't have that many highlights on it for me in general really.
I was deliberating between 'I Feel Fine' and 'We Can Work It Out' for this round so I've just re-listened to both. The bassline on the former was sounding pretty irresistible today so I've gone for 'We Can Work It Out' on this occasion. |

I’ve gone for the dreadful Yellow Submarine. |

Love Me Do is my choice. Although I’d be okay with Yellow Submarine leaving also.
Can’t believe you’re considering I Feel Fine Jade!!! |

Last two decisions have been good ones, almost looking like an all-round excellent list.
Gone for Love Me Do, I love Yellow Submarine :'( |

More people need to consider 'I Feel Fine', that's the one of their earlier songs that really actually isn't that great xxx
Poor brave wholesome 'Love Me Do' being targeted again |

Voted ‘Yellow Submarine’
I really hope ‘Love Me Do’ doesn’t go. One of my favourites that! |

Love Me Do is charmingly naive and sweet, but I'd rather hear almost all the other tracks remaining, bar one popular one which I'm not voting for cos I know it's a wasted vote until we're in the top 10 |
