From Sky News

A large part of central London's busy Soho area has been evacuated after an unexploded Second World War bomb was found at a building site.

Police were called at 1.42pm on Monday to Dean Street which they have cordoned off between Oxford Street and Shaftesbury Avenue after the device was discovered near the Soho Hotel.

Poland Street, Soho Square, Old Compton Street, Wardour Street, Manette Street and Lexington Street have also all been cordoned off.

People in Dean Street's many cafes, restaurants, pubs and offices have been evacuated as the army's bomb squad was called in.

Radio host Judymay Murphy said she was "very ably" evacuated from private members club The Groucho Club.

"It's never this quiet," she tweeted.

Literary scout Charlie Mundy left her fifth floor office in Old Compton Street after being told of the evacuation by another office worker in the building.

There have been a few bombs found in Germany recently as well. This is set to go on for a good while yet.

There was one in Berlin the other week at the site of a new high rise at Alexander Platz. It’s not a construction site in Germany if you don’t find at least one unexploded WW2 bomb. Such a common experience it doesn’t even seem to make the news here

Have any WW2 UXB's actually gone off in recent decades?

I don't think so. There are various sizes from small ones to medium and large. Most found these days are small.
