Johanna Konta has won the Sydney International by beating Radwanska in straight sets. Her 2nd WTA Tour title that will give her all of the confidence she needs for the Australian Open.

In other British tennis news-

Dan Evans is through to his 1st ATP tour final by beating Kuznetsov in three sets of the Sydney International. He faces Giles Muller in the final.

Good to see Johanna win Sydney. After two weeks, she is no.1 on the points race. Dan Evans lost his final but well done for getting there.

As for the Australian Open,I can't see anyone other than Murray or Djokovic winning the mens. The womens will be more open as it always is with at least 10 players capable of winning the title.

It will be probably most likely an Murray v Djokovic final.

It won't be, as Djokovic is out after losing to world no 117 Denis Istomin in five sets. Wow!, a big surprise there.

I don't think Murray will have a better chance to win the Australian Open.

A big shock that one. I thought that after Djokovic beat Murray in Doha,he would be back to his best for the Aussie Open. He loses a load of ranking points from last year so if Andy can win this or at least get to the final or the semis,he should keep the world no.1 ranking for most,if not all,of the year.

Well done to both! cheer.gif

Well done to Dan Evans with a $12 dollar non-sponsored t-shirt. British tennis looks in the best shape since quite a long time.

Murray lost to Zverev in four sets wasnt what I was expecting to wake up to this morning, really leaves the draw wide open. Evans also lost to Tsgona in four sets.

Konta got a tough match tomorrow last time they played here last year Jo won 8/6 in 3rd.. If Jo can win and progress her next round likely to be Serena

Can't believe what's happening at this tournament, we haven't seen the like since the 2004 French Open. Draw is wide open now, you'd have to put Wawrinka as the overwhelming favourite now.

Never faced each other apparently, so it'll be good to see what Konta can do. I did think Serena would win this before the tournament started but, with how aggressive Konta is playing right now, she might just get completely overwhelmed by the Brit!

I really hope Konta can cause an upset here. Would really cement her as a future grand slam winner and potentially a world number 1.

Pliskova is most peoples picks in the womens draw, she's also in same half as Konta and Serena and should have an easier match next against Lucic-Baroni. I'd like to see Konta win and even get to the final she seems to of started this year with so much fire and aggression and I hope she continues. I'd love to see Venus get to the final in top half of the draw feels like year of the oldies already with Serena Venus Lucic-Baroni and Federer all 34+. Mens side I can see a Federer v Nadal final happening

Lucic-Baroni's first Grand Slam quarter-final since Wimbledon 1999. She didn't play in Grand Slams between 2003 and 2010. A remarkable comeback from her.
