Channel 4 have teamed up with US network, known especially for 'The Walking Dead', 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul', to produce a new sci-fi drama, airing Sundays at 9pm.

QUOTE(Channel 4)
William Hurt, Colin Morgan and Katherine Parkinson lead an all-star cast in the drama series set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for a busy family is a Synth - a life-like humanoid, a highly developed, artificially intelligent servant eerily similar to its living counterpart.

Looking forward to this! I'm always intrigued by these sort of dramas that tell the story of what happens when we go to far with technology, such as 'Black Mirror'!

The promo's have been very good, setting up the premise perfectly without giving anything away. Very excited for it.

It looks to be in the same vein as Black Mirror (with more than a slight Blade Runner homage!), so this could become the next series I get really invested in.

Any thoughts on the first episode? I really liked it for the most part, set the story up very nicely (bar the storyline with the man with the six year old synth which remains vague but I assume it's important). I wasn't a big fan of the main family, none of them seemed at all likable, but I get the sense that may be intentional? That ending was quite ohmy.gif, left me really wanting more already!

Didn't seem as instantly dark as Black Mirror either, but there's definite potential for it to become as much.

Very rarely remakes are good (nevermind BETTER than the original) so we'll see if this one is an exception.

This has been Channel 4's biggest drama hit in 20 years, with 5.5 million viewers which is excellent. biggrin.gif I've really enjoyed the first couple of episodes, it's all being set up very nicely.

I always love Katherine Parkinson so she shines for me here. The people who play the Synths are excellent as well, especially Gemma Chan as Anita who plays it with the perfect slice of creepiness.

I'm enjoying the older daughter's storyline as it is interesting that if this were to ever happen, it kind of renders humans getting jobs as pointless, there wouldn't really be any aspiration anymore.

Well this is getting much darker with each episode, especially with that fighting ring in the latest episode. The ending was kind of freaky though.

This is great. I don't tend to watch much drama, but this is good drama.
Also, I think worth a mention is, The Saboteurs on More 4 another great drama.

I know, sounds like a watch a bit more drama than I let on, lol

This is my new fave UK show! And The advert they used before it started made me want to start saving up for a Synthetic tbh. Absolutely astonishing!

Very glad this has got a second series, though I do hope it doesn't go the same way as Utopia, in that it was a one-series show that got an unnecessary follow up series. Though there's still plenty more they could explore with this series, with it's 'man vs machine' themes.

The finale did feel a tad rushed and wasn't the best way to close it, but the series has generally been fantastic and really quite thought provoking, so glad that that's actually translated into success as well.

Just ran through this series as I haven't been watching enough up-to-date TV and I really enjoyed it, it was rather better than I was expecting. Nice large and rounded cast, mostly put to good use and as a series could go interesting places from here. Certainly teases some good stuff anyway.

Plus I really enjoy parallel takes on reality as part of science-fiction, it did that job pretty well.
