New York City

Where is The Feeling
I Was Gonna Cancel
Better Than Today

These are 5 of my predictions.

Is it limited to singles, or encompassing her entire discography (album tracks, B-sides, rarities)?

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 14th August 2019, 07:29 PM

You got at least 1 (or more) right Pippa! And it's about her entire discography Tawdry happy.gif

Posted by: pippa 14th August 2019, 07:47 PM

With such a wide catalogue it is a hard precition.
In addition to the songs i selected below i will add Sexercise and nu-di-ty to the list.

On a separate note, you picked a terrible picture of Kylie for your post happy.gif

#10 I was gonna cancel

The 'Kiss me once' era started quite ok with it's lead single. Then they decided to go with this one as a follow up. Why tell me why? For me there are two things that bother me about 'I was gonna cancel'. First, it's so inoffensive that it hurts. And second..Pharrel wrote and produced this??

Your thoughts?

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 14th August 2019, 08:12 PM

I know! But you are off to a good start with your predictions Pippa. With 'terrible' songs come non flattering pictures tongue.gif All out of love for miss Minogue though wub.gif

Posted by: pippa 14th August 2019, 09:04 PM

Seeing I Was Gonna Cancel in such a countdown is never a surprise.
This along with many songs from Kiss Me Once could fill your style of Top 10 easily.

I never understand why this song or the KMO album is so universally hated laugh.gif It’s like Kylie done a thrash heavy metal album in German they amount of hate the whole project gets laugh.gif I really like this and still listen to it a lot.

Totally agree, IWGC is a bop with clever lyrics and is something new from Kylie. I like KMO, especially ITB and Les Sex but can understand why others aren’t fans.

Hopefully Absolutely Anything is on this list haha.

Posted by: Nick Jonas 14th August 2019, 09:50 PM

I also like ‘I Was Gonna Cancel’. The video however....

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 15th August 2019, 01:59 AM

I was gonna cancel is def at home here in this list.

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 15th August 2019, 09:09 AM

Thanks for the comments this far. Interesting to see the mixed reaction to 'I was gonna cancel'. For me the biggest 'crime' is the fact that it's bland and forgettable (same goes for the video btw). Plus the fact that Pharrell was involved. It could've been so much more!

Let's make way for #9.

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 15th August 2019, 09:32 AM

#9 Nu-di-ty

I actually enjoyed 'X' when it was released. Nowadays I do less. Why? There are songs that I still love like 'The one'. And there are some songs that aged badly in my opinion. With 'Nu-di-ty' being the perfect example. It just sounds like a cheap Britney demo with some repetitive lyrics. Fun fact, 'Cosmic' (of the same album) was also up for elimination. This one pulled through because of that 'elephant trumpeting' sound..

It's only really on here, I do see a lot of love for the album in other fan groups I'm part of (although IWGC tends to get a hard time in general laugh.gif )

I think IWGC is totally fine as an album track, but it was always a blink.gif single choice for me. And that's before we get on to the video which is probably one of her most embarrassing moments ever.

Moto Blanco remix is a real banger though.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 15th August 2019, 10:04 AM

IWGC and 2 hearts are 2 songs I think would be much more liked by fans as songs if they weren't singles and it's the same for better than today.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 15th August 2019, 10:44 AM

I would definitely say all three of those songs should never have seen the light of day as singles.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 15th August 2019, 12:09 PM

I think alot feel the same way and I would say the same for where is the feeling. I love better than today but can understand it been a bad choice of single.

Posted by: pippa 15th August 2019, 01:14 PM

The songs revealed so far are rightly at home on the list.
Choosing the wrong songs as singles really changes the perception of a song.
Some songs are not suited to be singles and i think the songs mentioned fall into the category.
Better Than Today and 2 Hearts are 2 examples of songs that would be in much higher regard had they remained album tracks only.

This! Definitely the case with 'I was gonna cancel' and another song that made this countdown.

I Was Gonna Cancel, i did not like it before it was ever announced as a single.
When the announcement came i thought it was a bad joke at first, and unfortunately, it wasnt.

#8 Slow (The Abbey Road sessions)

This stripped down version takes away all the sexyness of the original version for me. Keep the record playing? No thanks! Everytime I hear this one I just want to speed it up as it's too slow for my taste. I even enjoyed the 'rocky' version of 'Slow' at the Golden tour so much more.

Your thoughts?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th August 2019, 01:22 AM

Ya it's not a great version but I could say that for most of the songs reworked on abbey roads.

Posted by: pippa 16th August 2019, 12:57 PM

The essence of Slow is lost in this version.
She has since gone on to have some other great live versions of the song.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 16th August 2019, 03:27 PM

The chorus is sublime so it makes for the slowness of ... Slow.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th August 2019, 09:03 PM

#7 Tell-tale signs

Kylie and her ballads are always been a hit or miss for me. This one is a good example of a miss. The music is too dramatic and the lyrics are cliché. I get it from a time perspective. It just didn't age well and I always want to skip this song when I play the 'Enjoy yourself' album. And I really don't mind me some Kylie cheese. Just not this kind of cheese.

Your thoughts?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th August 2019, 04:55 PM

That picture brings back some great memories of Neighbours in its hey day, i absolutely adored the show back then. I like tell take signs but its nothing special.

Posted by: slowdown73 17th August 2019, 07:03 PM

I really don’t like speakerphone, nu-di-ty or sexercize. I find the songs let’s get to it and low blow aren’t great tracks.

Posted by: Nick Jonas 17th August 2019, 09:10 PM

Sexercize is a BOP

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 18th August 2019, 01:27 AM

I don't like sexercise at all and speakerphone is just about ok.

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 18th August 2019, 01:51 PM

Sexercize is ok! Bar 'I was gonna cancel' and 'Beautiful' I actually don't mind the 'Kiss me once' album.

The festive #6 is on it's way!

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 18th August 2019, 02:24 PM

#6 Have yourself a merry little Christmas

I get why she released an Christmas album. That doesn't mean I like it. Some songs on the album are nice, some are uninspiring or annoying. Just my little opinion. Maybe it could have worked if 'Kylie Christmas' had a campy 'Light years meets Christmas' feel to it. This song is my least favorite of the bunch. It sounds outdated and I like my Kylie fresh (or cheesy/campy).

Your thoughts?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 18th August 2019, 06:12 PM

It's not to see Christmas songs here, they served there needs as they do for most Christmas albums.

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 19th August 2019, 09:45 AM

I agree. At the same time I'm not loving 'Kylie Christmas'.

10. I was gonna cancel
09. Nu-di-ty
08. Slow (Abby Roads session)
07. Tell-tale signs
06. Have yourself a merry little Christmas

I Was Gonna Cancel was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad sad.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 19th August 2019, 11:13 AM

At most it should have bern an album track only or b side to a single.

Posted by: pippa 19th August 2019, 01:27 PM

Tell Tale Signs is the best song on the list to date.
All the others are not what i listen to from Kylie.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th August 2019, 10:35 AM

There is no shock so far but in sure there is at least one in there somewhere.

Posted by: pippa 20th August 2019, 12:59 PM

Are you hoping to see Confide In Me on this list Feel The Fever.

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 20th August 2019, 07:23 PM

Lol, that one is far from this list 😉

Posted by: pippa 20th August 2019, 07:32 PM

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas is bland but not the worst on Kylie Christmas.

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 20th August 2019, 07:35 PM

#5 Bittersweet goodbye

It's time to go deeper and see what made top 5. First we have this 'Light years' album track. Like I said before, Kyle's ballads are a hit or miss for me. This one is a big miss for me. I love the campy/disco vibe of the album. I can even enjoy 'Your disco needs you' now (wich would have made this list 10 years ago). Then this one pops up..let's say it destroys my joyfull mood AND tooth enamel everytime I listen to it...

#4 coming soon! Brace yourselfs 😇

Posted by: pippa 21st August 2019, 09:19 PM

I don't agree on this choice, its an underrated song like many of Kylies ballads.
Is this an indication that Fargile from Fever could also make this list.
Both are sweet songs, not the best on either album but not the worst.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 22nd August 2019, 12:51 AM

Noooooo no for this, I love the song and is one of my faves on light years which says alot as I love the light years album.

Posted by: SamJudd 22nd August 2019, 02:01 AM

Actually like 'Bittersweet Goodbye' its a nice welcome break from the up-tempo numbers on 'Light Years'. A beautiful heartfelt ballad that shows another side to the album and okay its not one of the best on there, I'd probably rank it in the middle.

As for 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas', again wouldn't call it the worst, there's a lot more contenders for that title 'Stay Another Day', 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town', 'Winter Wonderland' etc... The original numbers on there are pretty good, however most of the bland covers really bogs things down, and in my opinion the X-Mas album would have been a hell of a lot better if they just kept the new songs, and add just a handful of covers (namely 'Santa Baby' & 'I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter' etc), and kept it short and sweet.

'Bittersweet Goodbye' can still sound a little jarring on the album but it's a lovely song in its own right. I was really sold on the song after discovering her Anti Tour performance.

'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' is one of the few covers I actually really like. Definitely not the worst on the album, not when the songs you listed exist. I agree that the album would have been better with more originals and less covers; a shame they couldn't rectify that with the 2016 edition.

I can't even listen to 'Bittersweet Goodbye' in full, it makes my toes curl.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 22nd August 2019, 12:56 PM

For me it's just a lovely easy to listen to song especially on light years as some real upbeat numbers surround it.

Posted by: pippa 22nd August 2019, 01:33 PM

Bittersweet Goodbye is like a little break from all the up-tempo numbers on the glorious Light Years album, this is what makes the song stand out.

Posted by: SamJudd 22nd August 2019, 05:27 PM

I put the 'Light Years' album through the preference revealer, just to see where 'Bittersweet Goodbye' would rank... and seems about right and I constantly swaps it with 'PS' in my rankings. Plus didn't realize I ranked 'UTIOL' so high.

1. On A Night Like This
2. Spinning Around
3. Your Disco Needs You
4. Disco Down
5. Butterfly
6. Light Years
7. Under The Influence of Love
8. Please Stay
9. Bittersweet Goodbye
10. So Now Goodbye
11. Kids (Ft Robbie Williams)
12. Loveboat
13. I'm So High
14. Password
15. Koocachoo

Posted by: pippa 22nd August 2019, 06:06 PM

I am going try this with the preference revealer.
I would understand the song coming low Top 10 on many peoples preferences but not the very bottom.

Posted by: pippa 22nd August 2019, 06:11 PM

Using the preference revealer for Light Years my results are:

Disco Down
Under The Influence of Love
Your Disco Needs You
Bittersweet Goodbye
Butterfly
Light Years
On A Night Like This
Spinning Around
So Now Goodbye
Kids (Ft Robbie Williams)
Please Stay
I'm So High
Loveboat
Koocachoo
Password

Glad you guys don't always agree with my picks. I just don't enjoy 'Bittersweet goodbye', even as a break on the album. It's just too sugary and whimpering in my opinion.

Now it's really time to get to the next song. It should be here in a minute or 10 😇

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 23rd August 2019, 11:44 PM

#4 Better then today

Another 'why did they release this as a single?' situation. There where much better options left on the album. And Nerina Pallot was involved? I had higher expectations to be honest. I find this song basic and even 'childish' at moments. Like a tune that your five year old nephew would enjoy.

Your thoughts?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 24th August 2019, 03:14 AM

Better than today shouldn't be here either I love the song.

Posted by: SamJudd 24th August 2019, 01:21 PM

'Better Than Today' - Actually don't find it that bad - as an album track, but had no business being a single especially over tracks like 'Aphrodite', 'Closer' & 'Cupid Boy', or even 'Put Your Hands Up' (which became the 4th single), but even that would have made a better 3rd single choice. On the album itself It probably ranks in about the middle, just a fun and bouncy track.

This will always be my 'Aphrodite' run of singles =

"All The Lovers"
"Get Outta My Way"
"Aphrodite"
"Cupid Boy"

If a 5th somehow got chosen then my choices would have been either 'Put Your Hands Up' or 'Can't Beat The Feeling'.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 24th August 2019, 05:19 PM

I love put your hands up and would have preferred it as a single to get outta my way andcsane with cupid boy.

Posted by: pippa 26th August 2019, 02:06 PM

Better Than Today gets much hate that can be understandable.
The hate only comes as it was a single, i call it relative hate.
As an album track it would be a popular song.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 27th August 2019, 12:24 PM

Ya as an album track it would be liked way more.but kylie has far far worse songs than it to end up number 4 here.

Posted by: pippa 27th August 2019, 03:01 PM

Better Than Today is not one of Kylie's best singles but it remains a good song.
There are many other songs down through the years and also from later years worse than IT.

Posted by: GLOBALFUNQ 👣 30th August 2019, 06:25 PM

Thanks for your replies! And this is not a hate chart btw, just some Kylie songs that I don't enjoy (for certain reasons) 😉

#3 Especially for you

Maybe I should hide now..? Still, I just don't like this song. She did this as an encore at her Golden tour in Amsterdam. So much better options to choose from in my opinion. Maybe it's because I didn't grow up with this song but it's so chringy and cheesy. I never liked it and never will I'm afraid.

Your thoughts?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st September 2019, 10:02 PM

I def wouldnt have this here, loved it when released as kylie and jason fever was at an all time high but over 30 years later i still enjoy it.

Posted by: SamJudd 1st September 2019, 11:33 PM

Actually like this one and will always have that nostalgia feeling towards it and like it or not this was Kylie's biggest selling UK single up until 'CGYOOMH' came along and this will always be a Kylie classic and yes its cheesy and corny as hell, but I LOVE IT and don't care who knows it..

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd September 2019, 12:55 AM

It really is a classic among all her singles and as you mentioned is 1 of her 2 actual million sellers. I really loved her duet with Kermit the frog of the song on an audience with.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 2nd September 2019, 11:00 AM

I can't stomach 'Especially For You' really, although I know that's quite an unpopular opinion.

I have been known to use it as my toilet break song at her concerts. laugh.gif But I did strangely kinda enjoy the moment on Golden.

#2 I feel for you

Why I don't like it? Let's see.. The way she uses her voice in this song. The childish lyrics. The cheap production. The high pitched part where she sings 'I feel for you'. The very repetitive nature of it (in a bad way). I could go on and on, and on and on...

Your thoughts?

Posted by: SamJudd 13th September 2019, 09:47 PM

Never liked 'I Feel For You' either, find it way too weird and not in a good way & find this and 'Someday' really drags 'BL' down. These 2 should have been scrapped and replaced with 'Slo Motion', 'Soul On Fire' or maybe 'Almost A Lover', any of these would have been more than welcome.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th September 2019, 01:21 AM

Not a fan of this either so i can understand why its here so high.

Posted by: pippa 16th September 2019, 03:32 PM

My prediction of Number 1 is The Loco Motion.
I thoroughly enjoy the song but i am aware many fans do not like it anymore.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th September 2019, 01:45 AM

I hope your prediction is wrong.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 17th September 2019, 08:36 AM

That and 'Someday' from Body Language are both the two really abysmal tracks on that album for me.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th September 2019, 10:49 AM

I dont mind someday as much but it's still a skip song, but I dont re visit body language much apart from chocolate and slow.

Posted by: pippa 17th September 2019, 02:50 PM

Body Language is an album i must give some time to again.
It is one of Kylie's albums i listen to the least but there are some enjoyable parts.

I'm thinking celebration as that peaked at number 20 and it's a cover version i.e copy.

#1 Tears on my pillow

Finally, the #1 in my countdown is announced! Why the hints? It was released in 1990, a cover and reached #20 here in the Netherlands. What can I say? This song just annoys me A LOT. Maybe I was born too late to appreciate some of her older stuff (see #3 in this countdown). It being an uninspiring cover, her vocals and the all around 'ballad cheese' vibe are the things that made this song my least favorite Kylie jam. Sorry not sorry!

Your thoughts?

It is Kylies weakest number 1, she has so many more songs deserving of number 1 than it but its far far from the worst song she has recorded.

It's by far my least favourite Kylie song ever, it's just a total abortion. puke.gif

Half the tracks alone on Kiss Me Once are far worse, many of the songs on her Christmas album are also worse. I dont love or hate Tears on my pillow but i would have it above a few of her other singles and not just album tracks either,i would prefer tears on my pillow to finer feelings, confide in me, celebration, where is the feeling, i was gonna cancel and get outta my way and possibly a few others aswell.

Kylie has delivered much worse songs than Tears on My Pillow in her 30 years of music.
That said, it remains disappointing it is one of her 7 Number 1 singles when at least 50% of her other singles were more deserving of the accolade.
Lets remember, without Tears on My Pillow, Kylie would not have achieved the feat of being one of the very few people to have Number 1 singles in 3 different decades.

Only 'I Was Gonna Cancel' would be among my least favourite Kylie songs from that list.

'Chiggy Wiggy', 'Monkey Man' and 'Absolutely Anything and Anything at All' are really dire. 'Sexy Love' has always annoyed me to the point where I can't listen to it. Don't think there's really any others, obviously there's songs I wouldn't listen to or could say I particularly liked but there's nothing else that I could say warranted a place on a worst Kylie songs list.
