They've still got a chance of staying up, especially now there's only one team going down this season! I'd imagine they'll have some unhappy players now though which might be a factor.

I always forget the effect of Bury being out of the league in terms of promotion and releagation!

Macclesfield Town have been docked six points by the English Football League after pleading guilty to charges over non-payment of wages and failing to fulfil their fixture with Crewe. A further four point deduction was suspended. That is now likely to be invoked after today's game was also called off. If so, they go to the bottom of the table. |

Okay I'll take back what I said, this really doesn't look like a good situation for them.

Mansfield Town have sacked manager John Dempster after seven months in charge. The Stags have not won a league game since 26 October and are six games without a win in all competitions. Dempster's last game in charge was Saturday's 1-1 draw at Crewe, which left the club 18th in League Two and 12 points below the play-off spots. As I posted in the League One thread, they have since appointed Graham Coughlan. Gabriele Cioffi has parted company with Crawley and they have since appointed John Yems. |

Along with assistant Steve Gritt. It must be very difficult for all the staff concerned, mortgages and bills to pay, food on table etc.

Yes, it is. I do worry on the future of Macclesfield Town. I hope that can be sorted soon and not another Bury.

With a further points deduction likely, it seems probable that Macclesfield will drop out of the league one way or another. It's just a question of how many adjustments the Conference etc. need to make to sort their numbers out for next season. We know what the Football League are doing to allow for the loss of Bury, but I'm not aware of any changes lower down yet.

The Football Association has confirmed it is "looking into" an alleged antisemitic tweet made by Port Vale forward Tom Pope, which the player has since deleted.
Pope made the tweet in the early hours of Sunday morning, having scored against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the FA Cup on Saturday. Quote-tweeting one of the Vale striker's tweets from June 2019, in which the 34-year-old had suggested he could score "40 a season" playing against City defender John Stones, another Twitter user wrote: "please predict the #WWIII result you king". Pope quote-tweeted back, writing: "We invade Iran then Cuba then North Korea then the Rothchilds (sic) are crowned champions of every bank on the planet", adding a series of smiley-face and thumbs-up emojis and also writing "the end." |

Stevenage manager Graham Westley has resigned with the club bottom of League Two, ending his fourth spell as boss.
Former Stevenage forward Alex Revell, 36, has been placed in charge for the final 12 matches of the season. Former England Women head coach Mark Sampson will remain at the club in his role as first-team coach. |

Grimsby Town major shareholder John Fenty is stepping back from day-to-day involvement to allow manager Ian Holloway to "drive the club forward".
Fenty, 58, was chairman until 2011 and remained on the board as a director. Holloway was appointed in December after more than 18 months out of management since leaving QPR. "He will have more freedom and autonomy to shape on-the-field matters than any other manager within the English Football League," said Fenty. The Mariners are currently 14th in League Two, having been 21st when Holloway took over, but are 11 points below the play-off places. |
