The Weeknd's biggest hit songs on the Official Chart
21 March 2020 | By Rob Copsey

In ten years, The Weeknd has gone from anonymous R&B singer to one of the biggest popstars on the planet.

Now celebrating ten years in music, The Weeknd's sad, atmospheric R&B sound has in recent years branched out into slick, sophisticated pop.

The Canadian began his career by uploading his music anonymously to YouTube, quickly gaining him both a loyal following and a air of mystique around his identity.

Now one of the most-streamed artists in the world (currently at 1.8 billion in the UK) and with an array of hits under his belt, it might comes as a surprise that his first UK Number 1 single arrived only this year with Blinding Lights, the trailer single for his fourth studio album After Hours.

In total, The Weeknd has landed 19 Top 40 hits on the Official Singles Chart, plus five Top 40 albums including his chart-eligible EPs. View The Weeknd's Official UK Chart history in full here.

The Weeknd's biggest song in the UK is Starboy with 1.71 million chart sales, according to Official Charts Company data, which takes in downloads and streaming equivalent sales. The title track from his third album, which seamlessly blends his dark lyrics with radio-friendly melodies, saw the star score a rare collaboration with Daft Punk, and the results were huge: a Number 2 hit in the UK and 15 weeks in the Top 10.

Starboy is one of five songs by The Weeknd to top over 1 million chart sales: Top 5 hit from 2015 The Hills is his second biggest song (1.65m), followed by Can't Feel My Face in third (1.61m). The third single from his first and currently only Number 1 album Beauty Behind The Madness is The Weeknd at his most pop-friendly, teaming up with super-producer Max Martin.

In fourth place is Earned It, The Weeknd's first Top 10 hit, peaking at Number 4 in 2015. The seductive track was recorded for the first Fifth Shades Of Grey film - a perfect match for his dark, sexed-up image - and has 1.11 million UK chart sales. Rounding out the Top 5 is his second Daft Punk collaboration, I Feel It Coming (1.001m) - a Number 9 hit in 2016.

Elsewhere in The Weeknd's all-time Top 20, Blinding Lights already places in the upper reaches in sixth (667k), while Often, released in 2015, ranks seventh despite missing the Top 40.

Further down, Top 10 single Call Out My Name from 2018's My Dear Melancholy album is eighth (508k), and his dance-heavy collaboration with French DJ Gesaffelstein, Lost In The Fire, places seventeenth (216K).

Yessss!!!! Thanks for that heart.gif

Happy to see Trilogy is gold heart.gif For a #37 peak it must’ve bulked up in streams over the years as he grew more popular.

Heartless not even Top 20 yet? How can that be trailing songs that peaked at 90 and 74?

The top 2 there are my 2 favourite songs from him, in that order. Mainstream whore confirmed. (The taste though! Did not expect 'The Hills' to be ahead of 'Can't Feel My Face'). Nice to see 'Often' and 'Low Life' both pretty high up despite charting lowly / not at all as well, both also among the best songs he's been involved with. And 'Lost In The Fire' deservedly tanking. Surprised that 'Heartless' isn't on the list at all yet though!

I was surprised too, but it's only a matter of time for Heartless, those other songs have had years to rack up sales which gives them the advantage.
