Into You
It would have been a very deserving winner (especially with that score) and would probably actually be my pick of the two but 2nd is certainly nothing to be sniffed at. It's just such a brilliant piece of pop and holds up so well to this day. |

'Into You' is a genuine masterpiece. It's actual art in pop music form. The structure of it, the production, the lyrics, the vocal delivery... EVERY THING. It's outstanding. Just utter perfection. It's peak is disgusting, but it's certification more than makes up for it.

I very almost gave my 11 to 'Into You', it's such such a top notch, next level song. Like Jade however 'Greedy' is my numero uno from 'Dangerous Woman'.
Very deserving positions for 'no tears', for me it catches that same vibe and feel good message of 'breathin' and 'Break Free', but the production, video and timing of the whole thing takes it to the next step up. |

It was really so hard for pretty much ANYTHING to reach a decent peak in 2016, due to how sluggish and clogged up the charts were.

1 10.05 no tears left to cry Highest: …ready for it, Jordan Lee, Juliano, Jupiter, LMLou, HarryEzra, Bré (11) / Lowest: Wall, Riser (8) I’m sure nobody is too surprised to see No Tears Left To Cry win this, with an insane >10 average rating. Seven of you gave it the top score possible and only 4 people rated it less than a 10, including me with my comparatively awful 9.5 rating. This also won the “No Tears Left To Cry vs One Last Time” poll and the combined Sweetener/Thank U, Next rate from last year so it’s fair to say is a popular winner. You would be hard-pressed to find many more universally adored song on Buzzjack than this. Scheduled to be released on 27th April, the song was pushed forward a week to accommodate label-mate Post Malone’s album and was an instant smash hit, debuting with the 2nd highest weekly sales of the year to date in the UK. Unfortunately the highest was also in the same week which meant that Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa’s ‘One Kiss’ ended up pipping it to the top spot after their Graham Norton performance. If it had stayed at its original release date it would have been a #1 but it just wasn’t to be In America, the song continued her run of lead-singles debuting in the top 10, entering at #3 behind Drake’s ‘Nice For What’ & ‘God’s Plan’. It had larger success elsewhere, reaching #1 in Australia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Malaysia, Norway, Portugal & Slovakia. This was Ariana’s comeback, two years after her previous release ‘Dangerous Woman’. It was also her first release since the tragic Manchester attack and her beautiful One Love Manchester concert. This meant that while anticipation was insanely high, nobody was quite sure just exactly what the sound and tone of the single was going to be. And when it was finally released, it left no one disappointed. It moved away from the RnB sound of DW and blessed us with a unique, bold, euphoric, ethereal, heavenly slice of pop that was nothing like wjat she had released before. The song managed to touch on the tragedy of the post year whilst remaining upbeat and optimistic. From the silky opening 30 seconds, to the breezy verses, to the powerful chorus, to the great adlibs, it really is the complete package. I know I’ve thrown a lot of adjectives at it there but nothing I say can really do it justice. You just have to listen and appreciate the 3 minutes, 25 seconds of pure bliss for yourself. Lyrically the song is about dealing with trauma and the importance of expressing your emotions but also promotes moving forward and showing resilience. It’s a self-lifting anthem but one that also encourages the listener to do the same. The video visualises this concept to show how Ariana’s life has been turned upside down but also how she is getting through it. At its conclusion, the video then subtlety tributes Manchester with the bee flying offscreen. The video is slowly climbing to 1 billion views too, it is soon to hit 900 million so it still needs some support. Massive congratulations to ‘no tears left to cry’. Will Ariana ever be able to top it? In honour of its win I’m going to change my username back to the upside-down version some of us did at the time of its release. Thanks to everyone for following along with this rate and massive thanks to my fellow mods for their wonderful commentaries too It has been a massive pleasure joining the team halfway through and getting to write about some of Ariana’s most iconic songs. |

The correct winner <3 it's not super often that I'll outright stan a pure pop song but 'no tears left to cry' is one of the few examples, it never gets even slightly old, it's just a flawlessly crafted song. I'd forgotten just how unlucky it was to not be a UK #1, I do like 'One Kiss' as well but I wish it had let Ariana have just one week at least like it did for Drake.
('Into You' is a v good pop song too x) Kudos to all involved in this rate for all the commentaries and whatnot xo |

'no tears left to cry' getting the 10+ average it deserves of course 'God is a woman' got my 11 but 'no tears left to cry' is definitely my second favourite Ariana song, so I'm very happy with that winner. Seeing it performed live last year made me somehow love it even more. It was the perfectly executed start to the 'Sweetener' era - from the sonic features to the video, I couldn't have wanted more, well perhaps that #1 peak in the U.K.
Thanks to everyone who has been following along it was a lot of fun to be a part of as a mod. |

no tears left to cry is spine tingling, pop perfection. From the ethereal opening to the bold but breezy (indeed!) verses to the astonishing chorus. The structure of it shouldn't work, but a lot of care and time clearly went into it and it just WORKS. Outstanding and Max Martin really showing why he is the actual God of Pop. It's just sublime.
Thank you so much to all of you for this countdown. It's been an absolute joy and pleasure to follow and comment. I really can't moan at majority of the results (even if my 11 didn't win - that top 3 is flawless!). You guys handled it wonderfully and masterfully! Thank you |

It really is such a special song, she really could not have came back with anything better or more perfect for that moment.
Sadly, such a world away in quality from the majority of the stuff she's put out after it. |

Well deserved winner, one of the best pure pop songs in recent years along with the likes of Rita's Anywhere & Dua's Don't Start Now.

no tears left to cry is simply fantastic sublime, with a perfect sentiment! My only wish is that the intro in the video was present on the studio version!

no tears left to cry is simply fantastic sublime, with a perfect sentiment! My only wish is that the intro in the video was present on the studio version! I fully agree, it really adds something essential to it. It's like how the "Woaaaoooaoohhhhhh" in 'Bad Romance' before the "rah rah rah" totally sets the tone for the entire piece. |
