To be honest I didn't think LadBaby would take off, its a bit marmite like it or hate it, with me its the latter and its a novelty track. Novelty tracks can be a bit of a hit or miss. I was looking forward to Ava Max haven't her debut #1, LadBaby just came from nowhere.
And I hear Post Malone is dropping a newie soon |

So first the Christmas number 1 was 'losing it's meaning' and when it's clear this week that it's still got the old spirit, it should be a 'proper song'...mixed messages ;o

Also what defines a %”proper” song it was recorded recording both it was released on a label it’s not like it was a bug that automatically download if you purchase anything on iTunes. It might be novelty but that doesn’t make it any less “proper” |

Why isn't We Built This City a proper song? It retains the original melody from the Starship song and actually has a guitar on it which is a rarity in the top 40 these days. Just because the lyrics are humorous doesn't disqualify it either. Yes,the vocals are out of tune but I'm taking that as a backlash against the use of autotune by today's pop singers.
I've just had a listen to this Ava Max song which I hadn't heard before today and I can't detect a proper musical instrument being played on it at all. Only one of these songs is proper and it isn't 'Sweet But Psycho'. |

Zenon you're literally contradicting your own thread from a week ago, are you trolling?
As someone else said this is the first novelty Christmas #1 since Bob The Builder almost two decades ago, so without any actual knowledge of what songs will be popular next December, the odds of it happening two years in a row aren't exactly in novelty's favor. Plus Mariah's chances will be better than ever if there aren't any more rule changes. Drake may sneeze ed may fart that week Adele might come out of hiding anything LMAO I'd quite like all three of these to happen in the same week.
