Being left wing, as we see from 17 in slightly fairer times, is not the problem.

Then why didn't Labour win?

2017?

1. Consolidation of the right - very unified, thanks to plutocrats and billionaires
2. Brexshit
3. Constant anti-Corbyn propaganda

Even just one of those variables NOT existing would have resulted in a 2017 landslide for Lab x

How are the above any different from what you've claimed of 2019?

Read my points r.e 2019 and you'll see. 2017 was a slightly fairer battleground and that's all we needed. Also the 2019 manifesto was a bit TOO big. It would have worked, but after years of austerity, a rabid hard right media, people don't have THAT much hope and saw it as too good to be true. Tone it down to where it was in 2017, no billion trees in 5 years etc, and there you have popular policies. But we also live in a one party state. It is an absolute joke of a "democracy".

It's going to be interesting seeing both the Lib Dems and Labour claw their way back over the next five years.

Is Ed Davey the favourite currently?

He appears to be the favourite at the moment. Given the delay, it is up to him to demonstrate that he is the one for the job. A good set of local election results would put him in a strong position.

Layla Moran has declared that she does intend to stand. She joins Wera Hobhouse who made a similar announcement a few days ago. If, as seems likely, Ed Davey also stands, that will mean over a quarter of the party's MPs will be in the contest.

TRYING to claw their way back. They've both got a mountain to climb really and can't be done imo in one term.

The swing required to deprive the Tories of a majority is fairly modest, particularly if both Labour and Lib Dems increase their vote. The swing required for Labour to be the largest party is, of course, a lot greater.

Their last female leader failed miserably so guess it's back to a man for them now.

So in your view, all females would perform exactly the same way and do the exact same things?

No of course not but some Lib-Dem members may not want to risk it.

Maybe one or two but I doubt there will be many. Indeed, some may decide that voting for a man after having a woman leader for just a few months wouldn't look good.

The leadership election has, unsurprisingly, now been postponed until May 2021.
