#20. D-Block Europe ~ Black Beatles [84 points]
Most hated: LiamSime [+13]
UK peak: #35

D-Block Europe being the hate magnets they are on Buzzjack have no less than four entries in the top 20. The lowest of these takes its title from a Rae Sremmurd hit but this one wasn't half as good or memorable.

#19. Oliver Tree and Robin Schulz ~ Miss You [89 points]
Most hated: Cow Cow, Sergej, UltraMidnights [+18]
UK peak: #3

So it appears that Buzzjack's least favourite dance hit of the year is this. It gained some controversy for Robin Schulz plagiarising the remix of an Oliver Tree song by Southstar but ultimately didn't stop it from becoming a big hit following TikTok exposure. The vocal was less than palatable to many tastes particularly on this version too.

#18. D-Block Europe ~ 4 The Win [91 points]
Most hated: WhoOdyssey [+15]
UK peak: #23

D-Block Europe here again with another bog standard DBE song. For me it's not really worth hating as it's just there and not any more offensive than other rap hits I don't care for.

#17. Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran ~ Peru [93 points]
Most hated: Jason [+18]
UK peak: #2

Annoying a lot of us by overstaying its welcome in the top 10, Peru saw Ed Sheeran jump on the afrobeats trend by remixing what was only a minor hit beforehand. I thought it was fairly decent actually and one of Ed's better efforts but clearly its lengthy chart stay led many to get fed up with it to the point of hate.

#16. Neiked, Anne-Marie and Latto ~ I Just Called [94 points]
Most hated: JulianT [+18]
UK peak: #99

Only just scraping the top 100 and thankfully climbing no further, we have Neiked team up with Anne-Marie for a take on I Just Called To Say I Love You, except now she's calling to say the opposite. And that Stevie Wonder song was never that great in the first place but a big improvement over this. Anne-Marie still has the opportunity to repeat her 2019 win as 'Psycho' remains in the running. As for Latto this is her only appearance as 'Big Energy' didn't attract many haters.

#15. Drake ~ Falling Back [95 points]
Most hated: CJK [+18]
UK peak: #10

Drake had a surprise album release as he often does with Honestly, Nevermind which got a mixed reaction with the fanbase for featuring very little rapping. This led the album and managed to scrape a top 10 position just from leading a Drake album as by week two barely anyone still cared for it. A bit of a boring song really, but ultimately it wasn't Buzzjack's least favourite of Drake's efforts.

#14. D-Block Europe ~ Overseas (feat. Central Cee) [95 points]
Most hated: adrianreavill83 [+18]
UK peak: #6

A long running top 10 hit eluded DBE for a fairly long while but the inevitable happened eventually with this track with a bit of help from UK rap's new hottest property Central Cee. Like most DBE output there's not really anything to take away from this song and it was never going to be a fave on Buzzjack.

#13. Kendrick Lamar ~ N95 [98 points]
Most hated: LiamSime, Christmas star [+18]
UK peak: #6

Unlike DBE, Kendrick Lamar has a bit more of a fanbase on Buzzjack however this is a chart based only on the haters who overwhelmingly decided that this was the most offensive of his efforts this year from his comeback - it also charted the highest officially but only charted for a short period for lacking the commercial factor of his previous top 10 hits. The song's title refers to a medical grade mask commonly seen during the pandemic.

#12. George Ezra ~ Green Green Grass [98 points]
Most hated: Cow Cow [+13]
UK peak: #3

George Ezra's comeback single Anyone For You most people agreed was at least fine however its follow-up Green Green Grass many found to be rather annoying and a poor man's Shotgun (which I also didn't enjoy in the first place), and so of course it was a much bigger chart hit too.

#11. Lauren Spencer-Smith ~ Fingers Crossed [100 points]
Most hated: Michael Bubré [+13]
UK peak: #4

Thanks to TikTok pre release hype this song managed to come from out of nowhere to enter the UK top five. Cue the disappointment of Buzzjack when we collectively discovered it was another dull singer-songwriter break up song with a strained vocal performance. We can keep our fingers crossed that more of these don't get big in 2023.

#10. D-Block Europe ~ Conor McGregor [110 points]
Most hated: coi [+18]
UK peak: #39

So it's not quite another medal position for DBE this year however their ode to boxer Conor McGregor is deemed their most offensive song of the year. It scraped a top 40 position off their album release before plummeting out the chart.

#09. Kim Petras ~ Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) [111 points]
Most hated: dannjohn [+18]
UK peak: #100

Following the huge success of Kate Bush's original version after its usage in Stranger Things, Kim Petras decided to have a go at covering it as an Amazon exclusive which led it to scraping a top 100 position. However Buzzjack were clearly less than pleased at this modernisation attempt. Kim would however prove the haters wrong soon after by having a UK #1 hit assisting Sam Smith.

#08. Drake & 21 Savage - Circo Loco [119 points]
Most hated: Johann [+18]
UK peak: #7

Drake won't win the hate chart for a second year then as both his remaining entries land outside the top 5. Firstly we have this team-up with 21 Savage as part of their collaborative album which made a bit of a mess out of a Daft Punk sample so no wonder Buzzjack took to it less than the other two charting tracks from the project.

#07. DJ Khaled ~ Staying Alive (feat. Drake and Lil Baby) [136 points]
Most hated: Riser, JulianT [+15]
UK peak: #21

And another pointless sample use here taking the classic Bee Gees track and stripping all the life out of it. Drake clearly owed DJ Khaled another favour here but was a phoned in performance as often is the case for him in recent times.

#06. Ed Sheeran ~ The Joker and the Queen (feat. Taylor Swift) [145 points]
Most hated: Jason, Bjork [+15]
UK peak: #2

Ed Sheeran decided that this would serve as the era's big ballad single however even in comparison to Perfect beforehand this felt flat and dull. The addition of Taylor Swift managed to get this to #2 however it had a rather short run by Ed's standards (thankfully). Most of us agreed it was boring and with less-than-great lyrics too.

So, the following are in the top 5 which will all be revealed this evening.
Anne-Marie and Aitch ~ Psycho
Central Cee ~ Doja
Chris Brown ~ Under the Influence
LadBaby ~ Sausage Rolls for Everyone (feat. Ed Sheeran and Elton John)
Liilz ~ Glad U Came (Feat. ZieZie)

All of those left are absolutely deserved.

Central Cee/Ladbaby/Chris Brown top 3 I'd say.

The Joker and The Queen is the only song in the top 10 I dislike, one of his worst ever songs.

I like the whole top 5, Psycho would be the best 'winner' as I'm tiring of it a bit now.

#05. Anne-Marie and Aitch ~ Psycho [147 points]
Most hated: seven., Bjork, Michael Bubré [+18]
UK peak: #5

Anne-Marie had a couple of decent tracks in the last few years (and even a great one in Don't Play) however it was only a matter of time before she'd come back with an obnoxious song in Psycho - very much a love-it-or-hate-it track here although most of us leaned towards not getting any enjoyment out of it clearly given it returns Anne-Marie to the hate chart top five. The Mambo No 5 interpolation and Aitch guest rap were certainly not needed either.

#04. Liilz ~ Glad U Came (Feat. ZieZie) [147 points]
Most hated: Roba!, Jason, Dot Branning, Jade, JulianT [+13]
UK peak: #15

Much hated for its groan-worthy interpolation of The Wanted's song of almost the same name, it of course became a hit as that's the easy way to get one now, though had a fairly quick chart departure thankfully and it's unlikely this Liilz guy will ever be seen in the chart again. Just an outright annoying song really.

#03. Chris Brown ~ Under the Influence [191 points]
Most hated: WhoOdyssey [+18]
UK peak: #7

A random Chris Brown song getting the luck of the TikTok algorithm was certainly not what most of us asked for and especially for a song this dull and lifeless. As ever I'm not a fan of Chris or his whining and many of us found the big success of this one of the most baffling chart stories of the year.

#02. Central Cee ~ Doja [230 points]
Most hated: JosephStyles, Riser, Roba!, JackTheeStallion, Dot Branning, Jade, Conorw, jimwatts [+18]
UK peak: #2

It was the most offensive of the year for 8 folks, more than any other of the year however as in the UK chart Central Cee has to settle for the runner-up position with Doja. I wasn't one of its many haters but it wasn't one of the few songs of his I particularly enjoyed either, and so it's no surprise it sits this high and I can't moan about that either. Many found the song annoying for its lyrics (particularly the "how can I be homophobic?" line that made the song hugely viral on TikTok) and the production being entirely based off the much better 'Let Me Blow Ya Mind'.

#01. LadBaby ~ Sausage Rolls for Everyone (feat. Ed Sheeran and Elton John) [230 points]
Most hated: …ready for it, MackMidnights, Dancember, detonate [+18]
UK peak: #1

However it is by virtue of tiebreak (this had two more voters than "Doja") that this year's "winners" are LadBaby, Ed Sheeran and Elton John. Based off the fairly good Christmas song Ed & Elton did together, they had the not so genius idea of teaming up with LadBaby to assist them with breaking the record for most consecutive Christmas #1 hits which they did. However this proved to be their most annoying effort yet and that's saying something considering their three previous groan-worthy unfunny parodies. Of course the proceeds from their tracks did go to charity but after four times running the same "joke" it is no wonder many of us have got more annoyed of their shtick. It was my most hated of the bunch as it was really cringeworthy and painful to listen to - three agreed and an additional five ranked the song in their "top" three. 'Don't Stop Me Eating' made #4 in last year's chart which was their first appearance, so this marks their first time at the top here. So hopefully this year they finally give it a rest but until Christmas chart week comes, who knows.

Let's give it up one more time for Buzzjack's least favourite Greggs salespeople sarcasm.gif

Can't complain with Ladbaby topping this. 'Doja' probably should have though as there's no redeeming qualities to that whatsoever but good end all round.

The Lilz track is also a pile of rubbish too. I'd say because of sad circumstances was why that tailed off quick more than anything.

Very late reply but a well deserved winner there (even if I don't think it's the worst LadBaby song and everything I've seen about the new one leads me to think I'll dislike that one more as well lol), makes up for it unjustly losing out to 'The Stonk' in the worst #1s poll. Of course I wouldn't have objected to 'Doja' winning either but I do think that has slightly more redeeming qualities. The absolute garbage pile that is 'PSYCHO' making the top 5 we love to see of course, should be higher etc. but I'm not going to be defending any of the songs ahead of it really (LadBaby was the only one of the 4 I actually voted for but generally still no love for the other 3). I am a little bit surprised people even remembered the Liilz song well enough for it to place so highly though! Likewise a pleasant surprise that the actual worst of the 4 DBE songs was their highest placed, I assumed it'd be either 'Overseas' or '4 The Win' simply because of them being less easily avoidable but 'Conor McGregor' was by far the worst of their charting songs in a year of DBE output that was otherwise relatively inoffensive by their standards.

I am glad 'The Joker And The Queen' missed the top 5, I get why people disliked it but I have a real soft spot for it (especially the Taylor version but the original was still an immediate highlight of the album for me), my steadfastness in the #edsheerandefenceforce is eroding over time as I did think most of the '=' album tracks ranged from mid to outright dreadful but I think he picked the singles well, this one included. 'Peru' is still a bop too, I always preferred the version without Ed but he doesn't ruin it.

'N95' being as high as #13 is an nnn but at least it seems to be more a case of a relatively small number of people really disliking it, with it quite emphatically losing that tiebreak to the bane of my existence that is 'Green Green Grass'. From the 16-30 section I think the only song that feels egregiously wrongly placed is Leah Kate whose song is truly obnoxious but maybe I can put that down to it just not being a big enough hit (thankfully) to attract the level of ire it deserved. Still at least beat 'abcdefu' despite that.

I feel like Central Cee may already be an early contender for next year's hate chart as well with his latest embarrassment which almost makes Liilz' song seem respectable in comparison (assuming the hook wasn't changed from the TikTok snippet that I gave a listen out of morbid curiosity after he initially claimed he was not actually going to release the song). LadBaby probably will be contending again too, so early outlook = maybe the same top 2 twice in a row? laugh.gif although of course we haven't even started 2023 yet so we'll see what other horrors the year produces ~

Cheers for running this Dan jump.gif
