Sunday Chart Predictions
Predicting the 28/09 to 04/10 chart

Will Jessie/Ariana/Nicki's vocals blow your mind or ear drums?
Following a quieter than anticipated second era, Jessie J returns with the lead single for her 3rd, 'Bang Bang' - a joint single between her, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj - and it's looking likely to enter at #1. If it holds on, it will be Jessie J's third number one, Ariana's second and Nicki's first. It's a quiet release schedule so there may be no other new entries joining them in the Top 10. 'I Know', Shift K3y's follow-up to his #3 hit 'Touch', is aiming for a Top 20 placing, with the possibility of Redlight - of 'Lost in Your Love' fame - entering with '9TS (90s Baby)' and American country artist Carrie Underwood scoring her first UK chart entry with 'I Know You Won't'. This week may also see the first song to reach the Top 40 on streaming only as Meghan Trainor's 'All About That Bass' is proving popular on this format, a week ahead of its official release. The fake version by Power Music Workout could enter too.

Despite the quiet singles chart, the albums is a different story. Favourites to win the chart battle are indie-rock band alt-J with their second album This is All Yours, however Leonard Cohen's 13th album Popular Problems and Professor Green's 3rd Growing Up in Public are also proving popular. Another anticipated album is Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga's collaborative Cheek to Cheek, which would be Gaga's fourth consecutive #1 studio album if it managed to debut on top this week. Other Top 10 contenders include: Aphex Twin's Syro, Joe Bonamassa's Different Shades of Blue and Lenny Kravitz' Strut. Elsewhere in the chart should be entries from Joanne Shaw Taylor, Perfume Genius, Erasure, Tim McGraw and KONGOS.

6 new entries would be very welcome but I can only see there being 3 maximum.

I'm guessing 6 new entries in the album top 10, would be nice if Lenny Kravitz also got in, I think he's promoting the album a bit this week, which might help

PRAYING Cheek To Cheek debuts at #2, I don't think they stand a chance against alt-J or I might be surprised with the physical sales of both Tony and Gaga's fanbases - hopefully the latter!

Please buy it on iTunes! sob.gif (the link in my sig)

i'd like to see Alt-J get the top spot of course. Bennett/Gaga should prove to be fairly big physical sellers though so they'll be contenders, or at least top 5 along with Leonard Cohen~

hope Shift K3Y can manage a decent position, since top 20 seems a bit unlikely

Tony's Duets II was released on this very week three years ago and managed #5. Combine maybe 10k of fans coming off the back of that and surely at LEAST 15k Gaga fans and it can clear 25k? Although I can't be sure that her fanbase will be that loyal, even her fans haven't exactly welcomed the project. I'm predicting 16-20k and #5-7.

From what I've seen on Twitter and her fansites, a lot of Gaga's fanbase are buying the physical cd at HMV stores for their collection and additional copies for their parents/older family members. Some CDs come with a poster which the little monsters want. The album's adverts and flyers are apparently only being released tomorrow but idk

I think the majority of its sales will be physicals, if Tony debuted at #5 last time surely this will be top 3 then with Gaga's fanbase? Does anyone know what Tony's first week sales for Duets was? This era of his has got a lot more attention and promo than the last one!

I'm still mad they chose Good Morning Britain of all the promo slots available in the UK nocheer.gif

I'll probably not be able to buy it until Saturday as I want the deluxe and will only be able to get that in HMV.

Surely Cheek To Cheek will be #2?

I have no interest in this album at all so won't be buying it, but I hope it wins her back some credibility and helps her for the next album.

On the basis that there doesn't seem much hype regarding the album? On what basis would Cheek To Cheek go top 2? Some retail stores aren't even stocking it.

Or maybe she could just, you know, go back to writing better songs for her next album, rather than the not-so-great ones on Artpop kink.gif
