It's okay, I think it could be a grower! I like that it's subtle.

It's a really drab comeback for them. sad.gif

I'm kind of hoping this is a "buzz" single and they'll release a killer one in 4-6 weeks or something.

Oh my!

Well, he's definitely making good on his promises to actually be a little gay in his (the band's, that is) music instead of pushing that all under the rug and making everything gender neutral.

Between this and Troye's My My My, really interesting time for LGBT representation in pop. I'm not sure I've ever seen a boy dance like that in a mainstream pop video before but lots of women have done so and it's described always as empowering. I wasn't sure what to think when watching it and I kinda think that could be the point.

Musically, not a direction I expected at all and I think I like it, will need a few re-listens without the video though to decide.

Interesting!

I think I quite like it on first listen, definitely happy it’s not just a retread of the debut era.

I think this is fairly good on first listen with room to grow. Maybe not a big hit like King but certainly will be successful and if the second album is like this single then it sounds very promising! Think the music video is great too!

I really like this on first listen! It's not really a big lead single though, it's more a solid album track that diversifies the album a bit, perhaps the big poppy single is coming.

It sounds cool.

I don't know, I feel like we were all so spoiled with King that every other release by Y&Y has been categorized under "it's shit" because there's such a high standard already

This grew on me more and more throughout the first listen. By the end I was really liking it.

Shine is/was adored here though? It won the Communion rate over King.

This is V GOOD.

I don't think it's lead comeback single material though, I'm not sure how it will do in the charts but I can't see myself repeating this over and over like what I have done with most of their singles.

Shine, Eyes Shut and Desire were all fab and probably in a minority that rates King not at the top.

I didn’t realise they had such a fan base on here...

Haven’t heard it yet but the general reaction seems to be “it’s shit” so my expectations aren’t too high

I personally prefer Desire and Eyes Shut to King and Shine

I think the new one is ok, maybe it's not number 1 material but it's not that uncommercial either

For me, 'King' is their ultimate moment that anybody would have a hard job beating so I try not to compare everything to it because it's in a league of its own.

I'm not disappointed in it because it's not a "banger", I ended up liking their album a lot and for example 'Take Shelter' is subtle but beautiful.

Apparently details of the album and a proper first single are coming shortly, yay!

I’m confused that "Sanctify" isn’t this first single given they even released a music video for it.

Honestly I don't get the lukewarm reception for this. 'King' aside, I'm not a massive Y&Y fan and yet I loved this on first listen!

Shine >>>> King for me.

But that could just be because I'm old and have heard loads of songs like King before.
