Rita Ora enters the Official Chart history books today, breaking a record held for 30 years.

The singer’s latest release, Let You Love Me, becomes her 13th Top 10 on the Official Singles Chart, climbing to Number 6 on the latest Top 40.

It means Rita sets a new UK chart record for the most Top 10 singles by a British female artist. The star overtakes music icons Shirley Bassey and Petula Clark, who each lay claim to 12 Top 10 hits.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, Rita was overcome. "I’m so grateful and honoured – this is insane! I can’t put into words what this means to me! I really appreciate everyone’s support," she said. "I’m really proud of the journey that the making of Phoenix has taken me on. To my fans, thank you for your patience and thank you always for listening. I wouldn’t be here without you, and I promise to keep giving you all my best.”

Rita had a strong run of hits on the Official Chart of late. Since June last year, five of her singles have reached the top tier: Your Song (7), Lonely Together (with Avicii, 4), Anywhere (2), For You (8) and Let You Love Me [6].

Let You Love Me is the latest single from Rita’s forthcoming second album Phoenix, out November 23.

Behind Rita, Shirley and Petula, British female artists with 11 UK Top 10s are Jess Glynne, (British-born) Olivia Newton-John, Cilla Black, Emeli Sandé and Dusty Springfield.

Legends (and soon to be Jess Glynne </3) only!

So deserved heart.gif

Edit: Seems like OCC did this midweek and forgot to change the chart position for 'Let You Love Me'. laugh.gif (they've written number 8)

Out of all of those Top 10 hits, the only one I'm not particularly keen on is Shine Ya Light. What a run!

Very impressive stuff, particularly her tally in the last 2 years.

Queens only! Crazy that no other British female artists have achieved more than 12 top ten singles! Especially given Rihanna, Madonna, Britney, Kylie and Beyoncé's tallies must all be over 20/30 each!

For comparison, a lot of other current/recent artists are on 10 including Ellie Goulding, Leona Lewis, Jessie J and Lily Allen. It'll be interesting to see how them, Jess Glynne and Rita fare with future releases.

Jess Glynne is the only artist that could challenge the title for now.
That said, i feel Rita, equally has further Top 10 hits ahead.
