So weird to see this become such a smash. I don't dislike it but I can't hear anything about it that makes it such a stand out, aside from him being from Stranger Things. Which is fine and everything, he wouldn't be the first person to achieve success with music off the back of being famous for other reasons.

It is an old song though so I don't think him being from Stranger Things really has much to do with it, seems like the song is just resonating strongly with the TikTok crowd for whatever reason (if anything it's mildly surprising nothing from his music career took off before now). It's very bog standard forgettable synthpop for me.

I think it’s very much the trend. It’s a lot of nostalgia and sharing love for places/ people you love, and the trend is what’s making me love it. I don’t think I’d like it as much if it didn’t have such a sweet trend to go along with it
