QUOTE With The British Soap Awards 2019 getting closer, public voting has opened today (April 9), giving fans the chance to have their say on who scoops a prize. Bosses at the annual ceremony have officially announced this year's longlist nominations for Best Actor and Best Actress, which have 15 familiar soap faces in the running. Voting has opened for these two categories and the all-important Best Soap prize. So who's in with a chance this year? Take a look below: Best Actor Richard Hawley (Johnny Connor, Coronation Street) Jack P Shepherd (David Platt, Coronation Street) Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow, Coronation Street) Matthew Chambers (Daniel Granger, Doctors) Ashley Rice (Sid Vere, Doctors) Chris Walker (Rob Hollins, Doctors) Zack Morris (Keegan Baker, EastEnders) Danny Walters (Keanu Taylor, EastEnders) Danny Dyer (Mick Carter, EastEnders) Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden, Emmerdale) Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle, Emmerdale) Dominic Brunt (Paddy Kirk, Emmerdale) Gregory Finnegan (James Nightingale, Hollyoaks) Ijaz Rana (Imran Maalik, Hollyoaks) Ashley Taylor Dawson (Darren Osborne, Hollyoaks) Best Actress Sally Ann Matthews (Jenny Connor, Coronation Street) Alison King (Carla Connor, Coronation Street) Bhavna Limbachia (Rana Habeeb, Coronation Street) Bharti Patel (Ruhma Carter, Doctors) Ali Bastian (Becky Clarke, Doctors) Laura Rollins (Ayesha Lee, Doctors) Tamzin Outhwaite (Mel Owen, EastEnders) Lorraine Stanley (Karen Taylor, EastEnders) Louisa Lytton (Ruby Allen, EastEnders) Zoe Henry (Rhona Goskirk, Emmerdale) Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle, Emmerdale) Lucy Pargeter (Chas Dingle, Emmerdale) Stephanie Davis (Sinead Shelby, Hollyoaks) Harvey Virdi (Misbah Maalik, Hollyoaks) Lauren McQueen (Lily McQueen, Hollyoaks) This first round stage of voting will close at 5pm on Tuesday, April 23. Second round voting – when the shortlists are revealed – will open at 10am on Tuesday, April 30 and close at 9pm on Friday, May 24. During the second stage of voting, the Best Actor and Best Actress categories will be whittled down to five choices each. The Best Soap category remains at five choices for both stages of the voting. The awards' other categories – including the likes of Best Storyline, Best Newcomer and Best Young Performance – will be determined by a panel of judges. The British Soap Awards will air in June on ITV. (Source: Digital Spy) |

Danny bloody Dyer again :')
For actress, I'm actually thrilled Stephanie Davis has got a mention! She's a brilliant actress but never seems to get the credit she deserves because the whole CBB saga and her being fired is still in people's minds. I'd be happy with one of her, Emma Atkins, Lorraine Stanley or any of the Corrie three winning. |

Eastenders making baffling choices again. I'm shocked none of the Slater women got a nod for Best Actress when you consider the year they had and the talent and popularity of the actresses. Kellie Bright deserves a nomination for the two-hander episode alone and if Danny Walters is up for Best Actor then Letitia Dean certainly should be there. At least they got Tamzin but Mel is not popular with viewers.
I'm backing Sally Ann Matthews who continues to near single handedly carry Coronation Street. |

I do think that the EE actress list is pretty fair but as Liam said there are many more that could have been included (Sharon, Linda, Jean-they even left Stacey out for once!)
Danny Dyer is baffling as he’s actually been shit all year. There have been much better actors over the past year. |

I think overall the Eastenders nominations are ok I’m glad Zach Morris (Keegan) got a nomination hope he makes the shortlist. It’s not really a surprise they always put up Danny Dyer as he’s quite popular and seems to always make the shortlist and sometimes win in these public voted categories. I assume there saving Gillian (Jean) for next year also when her storyline kicks in more but it’s a bit ridiculous Bonnie (Carmel) never made the cut though I assume that’s because she’s left and they want people still in the show nominated . Ollie and Brody from Hollyoaks were robbed in the Best Actor category as well !

The actor playing Ollie has only turned 18 this year, so i'm guessing he'll be in the young actor's category Oh I see that makes sense hopefully he’s nominated in the young actor category then . Isn’t the actor who plays Imram around the same age though as he’s been nominated? |

I think Ijaz is older, certainly older than Aeden is anyway... I think he'd only need to be say 6 months older for him to be included in the 'Actor' rather than young actor category. |

Sharon is a terrible actress though, she can't act she should never be nominated! It's down to opinion but still you would have thought that if Sheanu has been a big storyline so far and if Danny Walters is up for Best Actor then Letitia should surely get a nomination too. |

I voted Zack Morris for actor, Steph Davis for actress (Alison, Lucy and Lorraine would be great winners too, but I can lowkey see it being Lauren if not Lucy) and Emmerdale for soap as it's easily the most consistent, diversity goals x
If I could vote for the others I'd do: Villain of the Year (panel-voted) Nathan Sussex (Buster Smith, Hollyoaks) Best Comedy Performance (panel-voted) Patti Clare (Mary Cole, Coronation Street) Best Newcomer (panel-voted) Talia Grant (Brooke Hathaway, Hollyoaks) Best Storyline (panel-voted) Footballer abuse (Hollyoaks) Best Single Episode (panel-voted) Aidan's suicide and the aftermath (Coronation Street) Best Male Dramatic Performance (panel-voted) Zack Morris (Keegan Baker, EastEnders) Best Female Dramatic Performance (panel-voted) Gillian Wright (Jean Slater, EastEnders) Best On-Screen Partnership (panel-voted) Simon Gregson and Kate Ford (Steve and Tracy McDonald, Coronation Street) Best Young Actor (panel-voted) Kara-Leah Fernandes (Bailey Baker, EastEnders) Scene of the Year (panel-voted) Shakil's funeral (EastEnders) Weird that I put it as best soap but didn't pick Emmerdale for anything else |
