Hi everyone, I've decided to take the opportunity to take a close look at Scotland's contributions to the Eurovision Song Contest cheer.gif

I'm starting with a song that brought much national pride to Scotland by winning the contest ohmy.gif Lulu with "Boom Bang a Bang" was the second winner for the UK (and still the only Scottish winner sad.gif), being one of four victors in 1969 - the UK, France, Spain and the Netherlands all scored 18 points and there wasn't a tie-break rule in place at the time. Lucky for Lulu as she wouldn't have been the winner under any kind of tie-break rules that are in play today nocheer.gif

What does everyone think of her song and performance? Discuss away heart.gif

As someone with proud Scottish heritage, I'd also like to draw attention to the legendary Scott Fitzgerald who came second in 1988 behind some Swiss lady. Absolute robbery.

Also Lulu is one of the greatest winners of all time but 1969 slapped hard. Vivo Cantando AND The Troubadour also legendary bops.

Excuse me, this is an ongoing project and I'd have got to him eventually, no need to jump ahead smile.gif

But now he's been mentioned, here is Glasgow-born Scott Fitzgerald with "Go"

We were lucky enough to see him at an event called Eurostarz in August 2018 wub.gif A travesty that he didn't win tbh, I wonder what ""Céline"" ""Dion"" is doing now, I certainly have never heard of her since the 1988 contest unsure.gif

Well get there quicker sweetie. Scotland is brimming with Eurovision icons so don’t keep the masses waiting. He’s probably the best live performer I’ve ever seen! (category Scottish eurovision runners up)

BBC Alba have been in talks to take part in Junior Eurovision cheer.gif Just like Wales already take part as a separate nation

Hopefully once independence happens, it can happen in the main contest as well. The more countries the merrier, and the UK cruelly snubs the Scots sad.gif (So far this century we've had four and a half acts that are Welsh representing us, but not one Scottish act mellow.gif)

Do you mean as much of a flop as "Only The Light" by Rikki, which was our worst result from our first participation in 1957 right up until 2000. Scotland really did us dirty that year sad.gif

Doesn't sound too bad to my ears
