BuzzJack Music Forum _ Ariana Grande _ The Sweetener / Thank U, Next Tour

Posted by: Theo. Aug 14 2018, 07:39 PM

!!!

I've just seen an advert on Instagram that if you pre order any 'Sweetener' bundle, you will receive a pre-sale code for Ari's 2019 UK tour!

I hope to get tickets, she'll surely do a lot more shows this time round after the 'Dangerous Woman' Tour.

Posted by: LewisGT Aug 14 2018, 08:36 PM

I'm so excited for this. I do think watching the Dangerous Woman tour in Birmingham was one of the best nights of my life.

I hope it's not during exam season this time seeming that it will be my final year of uni, although I do fear it will be.

YES

Posted by: Slick Aug 18 2018, 10:30 AM

SO HYPED. Despite what happened after the show, seeing her live was genuinely was of my favourite gigs. She left me feeling in awe.

Posted by: Theo. Nov 5 2018, 06:17 PM

Normani and Social House (idk her) will support Ariana for the US dates.

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Nov 10 2018, 01:45 AM

Social House produced 'thank u, next' I think!

I really hope she keeps Normani at least for the UK leg!

Posted by: Andrew. Dec 11 2018, 11:59 PM

Ariana has said we could get UK dates by this weekend *.*

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Dec 14 2018, 08:07 PM

European dates have been announced. Here are the UK dates:

17th Aug | London, UK
14th Sept | Birmingham, UK
17th Sept | Glasgow, UK
19th Sept | Sheffield, UK

Manchester is initially missing due to her and her team having something special planned, but expect a date for that soon.

I assume they will be arenas, but venues haven't been officially announced yet.

I'm gonna have to go and see her this time! I was soooo gutted I didn't get tickets to her Dangerous Woman tour.

Posted by: Wreatheo Dec 14 2018, 08:15 PM

I am definitely going to this! A shame there's only 5 UK dates at the moment but Sheffield isn't too far away so I'll probably go there unless Manchester falls on a weekend

Posted by: LewisGT Dec 14 2018, 08:15 PM

Its the 02, Arena Birmingham, SSE Hydro & FlyDSA Arena, it's on her website biggrin.gif

Manchester is easily the closest to me but I imagine it's going to be very difficult to get tickets to that one.

Posted by: jakewild Dec 14 2018, 08:18 PM

she'll surely be playing old trafford.. maybe even more than once?

Posted by: Neil Dec 14 2018, 08:22 PM

I expect Manchester will be Etihad Stadium?

Posted by: jakewild Dec 14 2018, 08:29 PM

oh yeah that'd make more sense

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 15 2018, 01:46 AM

I NEED tickets

Gonna try and hold out for Manchester though as I feel that’ll be the most special show of the entire tour probably.

Posted by: Wreatheo Dec 17 2018, 08:49 PM

She's already added a second London date. Presales start on Wednesday and general sale on Friday

Posted by: Jay ☆ Dec 17 2018, 10:02 PM

^ Strangely it seems that tomorrow is the first presale for London, but other UK venues is Wednesday!

Posted by: Jack Dec 18 2018, 11:59 AM

Does anyone know how much tickets are?

Posted by: Jay ☆ Dec 18 2018, 12:15 PM

For Birmingham it's showing a price range of £52.00 - £108.50 (via The Ticket Factory website), but I'm not sure about elsewhere yet!

Got Gold Circle in Birmingham for Jahq & myself! wub.gif

Posted by: Jack Dec 18 2018, 06:16 PM

Posted by: LewisGT Dec 18 2018, 09:41 PM

I have a presale code for this but I'm waiting for the Manchester show and I have no idea whether the code is going to work for that. Stressful times.

Posted by: Slick Dec 18 2018, 11:23 PM

Definitely going to this. I was going to hold out for the Manchester date but don't want to risk not getting tickets so will go for Sheffield instead.

Posted by: lotitakuchen Dec 19 2018, 11:35 AM

Posted by: FezVez Dec 27 2018, 12:44 PM

Any sign of additional dates, namely for Sheffield?

Posted by: Slick Dec 28 2018, 05:10 PM

I've read a rumour that she's bringing the show to Manchester Pride (although it was in The Sun.) I'd be down for that.

Posted by: Jack Dec 30 2018, 04:53 PM

^ I really wouldn't be surprised with that, especially after Britney inexplicably headlining Brighton pride.

Posted by: jakewild Dec 30 2018, 05:15 PM

that would be SUCH a moment

Posted by: jakewild Dec 30 2018, 05:16 PM

(wondering where the new pride stage is gonna be this year tho.... it surely cant be her only manchester date unless she's doing like heaton park or something??)

Posted by: kye Dec 30 2018, 09:26 PM

i really hope it’s not her only manchester date if she does do pride. i don’t like pride and, since this is the first year that it’s the ‘festival’, it will be hell.

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Dec 30 2018, 10:38 PM

I'd imagine she has a seperate show in mind. Aren't majority of her fans like 11-16 year olds? Are they even allowed at Pride's? laugh.gif I can see the Pride show being a seperate event tbh. I can't see her just doing Pride for Manchester. (Obvz a massive deal in itself though)

(wondering where the new pride stage is gonna be this year tho.... it surely cant be her only manchester date unless she's doing like heaton park or something??)

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's going to be at Heaton Park!

As much fun as Britney Pride was the organisation of it was hell and Pride kind of lost its meaning by just being a Britney concert. I'm not sure if I'd like it to be true or not.

Posted by: dannjohn Dec 31 2018, 10:28 AM

she's gonna be rumoured for pride every year in manchester isn't she? i don't think she will do it tbh because looking at her tour schedule... isn't pride normally the weekend before bank holiday? 23rd-26th? her only free days there are sunday 25th or monday 26th... doubt she'd perform on a sunday? doesn't the 'headliner' normally do Saturday? otherwise her only other free day is the 31st but as she's in belgium on the 30th and then germany on the 1st... i'm not sure she'd fly over to manchester for one day.. she'd be exhausted but whey knows?

Posted by: dannjohn Dec 31 2018, 10:30 AM

ps. i hope she does 'honeymoon avenue' on the tour.

Posted by: kye Jan 1 2019, 05:00 PM

the news stories are saying they’re trying to get her for sunday + the headliner is usually sunday cause of bank holiday monday.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Feb 7 2019, 02:18 AM

Really hope we get a date for Manchester soon.

I need to go to this tour as I need to see her live wub.gif

I missed her last tour and I’ve grown into a fully gown STAN now.

If I don’t go I’ll settle for a DVD of the tour though laugh.gif

So far Ariana has said that Only 1 will be included in the set list, and that she won't be performing ghostin

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Feb 12 2019, 05:12 PM

Noooooo. But I guess I understand why she's not doing 'ghostin'

Posted by: Andrew. Feb 25 2019, 04:20 PM

Manchester Pride confirmed.

I wanna see her in Glasgow soooo bad but the resale prices are extortionate sad.gif I really wish she could've had a second date here like some other places in the UK, it would've been a nice gift since she didn't announce any Scottish Dates for the DW tour :')

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Feb 25 2019, 07:06 PM

I'm loving the outfits and the set-list (although I think Ghostin would have been such a moment) . I can't wait to hear Breathin live!

Posted by: Jade Jun 11 2019, 06:12 PM

sad.gif surely something is still to come?

Posted by: Theonix Jun 11 2019, 07:46 PM

As infuriating as it may be for her Manchester fans, realistically where in the city would she perform? I very much doubt that Ariana would want to return to the Arena and I don't think she's big enough a name to perform a Stadium gig solo (baring in mind they're only open to concerts across the summer and by August the football season will have started). It's a shame that they're only getting the Pride event but maybe she'll come back in 2020 for a Stadium show?

Posted by: Jade Jun 13 2019, 10:53 AM

Ari performed in Pittsburgh last night, the hometown of Mac Miller - they had his music playing before the show (lovely touch heart.gif) and she got emotional during 'raindrops (an angel cried)' and 'thank u, next' </3 as much as I love ------ 'ghostin' ------, I can appreciate why it's been left off, that would've been tremendously difficult last night in particular.

there’s a number of venues - she could play some intimate shows at the o2 apollo, there’s manchester central which holds 10,000. she could even add a date at the liverpool arena but it seems that sheffield is her only northern england date. there were also whispers that she would be playing the cricket ground again but nothing seems to be happening with that.

i’m not going to pride so it’s a real shame it looks like i won’t get to see her on this tour.. never mind!

Posted by: Jade Jul 15 2019, 12:26 PM

First leg of the tour is over - 50 shows. Blimey!! She's so hard working.

Aww the Normani picture/caption! I've seen some Ariana fans on Twitter saying that they want Normani to be featured on the Ariana summer single that's been discussed. It was nice to have a complete break from features for 'thank u, next' but I would be interested in a collab between the both of them at some point, maybe something smooth that's sonically similar to 'Love Me Harder'. Anyway, I've seen some clips from tour and the show looks brilliant so well done to Ari and everyone else involved so far.

I assume her tour promoters probably requested it more so. Which is understandable. (EDIT: But I agree with you, it should be the norm - although tbf it wasn't really the people going into the concert that was the issue)

maybe the setlist will begin to change throughout the European shows though and it’ll be ok some shows.

#sweetenerjoyisoverparty is trending. Joy is an Ariana stan who has been noticed by Ari etc.. and she and some other stans who have been noticed have been rude and bullying someone who had their M&G cancelled </3

Those types of fans are the worst!

I saw an article today which grouped a lot of fan tweets together asking for Ariana to just cancel the whole remainder of the tour. I really hope it doesn't have to come to that but obviously her mental health comes first. It's just been cancellations for meet & greet + soundcheck packages so far, with her apparently saying that she just wants to focus on performing, so hopefully not. The number of dates she's doing is pretty crazy though - still more European ones and the second US leg to come. Enough for anyone to burn out.

Also, omg at that Jonjo, what is wrong with people drama.gif apparently she's only 14 which doesn't surprise me all that much, a lot of the most rabid stans on Twitter seem to be quite young and immature. Twitter is a godsend for news but I much prefer actually discussing her on here, the drama on there is too much laugh.gif

Apparently i'm going to this now lol? In the gold circle with Jay (and then with Lotti, Rob, Jack too). Excited although doubt she can ever top the Dangerous Woman tour wub.gif

Wow so many BuzzJackers are going to see her *.* hope everyone attending the shows over the weekend has a brilliant time!

My date is a month on Friday! So excited. Still waiting on my clear bag to arrive ~

One week until I see her (again)! Not that I remember that much from her Pride concert ph34r.gif I'm so excited though, I'm standing and going alone so hopefully I'll be able to get a good spot

omg I didn't know you were going? SLAY.

Omg I am so excited wub.gif As magical as Pride was, it wasn't a full set, so will be good to see all my faves live - most hyped for 'bad idea'! Then seeing her in the pit with my boyfriend in a week or so at Sheffield!

Posted by: Jade Sep 15 2019, 12:06 PM

How was last night guys? ohmy.gif

Posted by: HausofF Sep 15 2019, 12:34 PM

I wasn't aware of the setlist before going so I was pleasantly surprised with some of the additions! Break Your Heart Right Back was a highlight wub.gif

Being critical - I wasn't huge on the staging at all. It completely dwarfed Ariana and even throughout the show even being so close to the front, you could barely see her on stage! The screens were also tiny and didn't help. But regardless, her VOCALS more than made up for the fact she wasn't really visible.

(This wasn't just where I was standing too - everyone else that went and I spoke to said the same).

Dangerous Woman Tour was the better of the two but this was still brilliant!

Posted by: Jade Sep 15 2019, 05:28 PM

'Break Your Heart Right Back' is on the setlist? Omg. My excitement has now PEAKED.

I've seen some videos of the staging and it looks so dreamy and spacey but oh no at it dwarfing her, a bit concerned about the tiny screens sad.gif but you describing the experience as 'brilliant' on the whole is promising nevertheless. ONE MONTH TODAY ahhhhh!!

^ some clarity on the meet & greet situation!

Posted by: 365 Sep 15 2019, 09:09 PM

I agree that the show wasn't that great - I think Ariana was the 10/10 part of a 5/10 show. For the biggest female star in the world I expected more than just a Paper mache moon. Beyonce has done stripped back shows and made them equally striking, and this just felt a bit meh.

I still had the best time because Ariana's vocals were amazing and the setlist was great.

She’s so humble!

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 15 2019, 11:05 PM

I absolutely loved it. She was really incredible! Such a superstar. The choreo, vocals.. everything.

I understand the criticism of the staging, but the visuals were stunning and from where I was (quite far back) I think the staging worked better, due to being able to seeing more of it, perhaps? My only criticism is that it was indeed rather basic and simple.

>>>>>>>>>>REM really surprised me. I wasn't expecting it to be as bassy as it was! It really worked. >>>>>sweetener was SUCH A MOMENT! The crowd were really into it and I'm so pleased. One of my most underrated Ari songs. Be Alright was incredible and Side To Side, Bad Idea, the light is coming & NASA were all great too, obviously.

I was disappointed in >>>>breathin' and everytime and I felt >>>>>Needy was a bit pointless. But everything else seemed to work.

My absolute faves were Into You, Break Free & no tears left to cry they really didn't disappoint and lost my shit to all 3 of them.

Im so, SO impressed by her vocals. Insane!!!

Posted by: LewisGT Sep 16 2019, 01:56 AM

I had such an amazing night and thought the show was wonderful. Barring a sea of phones I could actually see everything pretty well. I thought the staging was pretty cute too kink.gif

The only real possible weakness I can point to is that Ariana is obviously not a very comfortable dancer and such if I compare the choreography tonight to the Blackpink show I saw a few months back there’s a massive notable difference in quality. However she’s such an outstanding vocalist that it doesn’t really matter.

Disappointing to hear that Breathin wasn’t one of your favourites Jonjo as it was easily the highlight of my night and the video I shared on twitter.

I’m already thinking about the next time I get to see her. I hope it’s not too far away laugh.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ Sep 16 2019, 02:48 AM

I enjoyed the show! heart.gif

So many moments vocally... I think she's improved since 2017 (and she was already incredible then)! wub.gif

It was a strong set list too. Break Your Heart Right Back was a major highlight for me. wub.gif I can't fault any inclusions - even songs I'm not hugely enthused about like R.E.M. & Make Up, I actually really enjoyed hearing. Admittedly I was a little disappointed that In My Head was only a video interlude, it's low key one of my favourites from thank u, next. Also I wish she'd done full length versions of Everytime, Break Free & Into You. All 3 songs are incredible for me, but they felt way too fleeting!

I think the only song I really missed was One Last Time... but I already knew it was removed from her show a long time ago, so I was prepared for that, and I understand why it's not included. I had thought she'd do Boyfriend, given that Social House were there (right? Bal & I only arrived during Ella Mai, but Social House were another support weren't they?). I can't say I hugely missed Boyfriend because it's not a massive fave of mine, but I had thought that maybe seeing it live would potentially help it click for me.

I would probably agree that visually speaking/staging was rather minimal. The screen visuals were very pretty at times, but overall... I think there's room for improvement in future tours for her to create a show that has more of a visual impact.

When it comes to not seeing Ariana very well, I would have to echo that. A sea of arms/phones up in the air is kind of inevitable but at other shows I've been too I haven't struggled as much to peep the artist! I have a height advantage of being 6 foot 2 and yet I still struggled to see her at certain points in the show, so I can imagine anyone shorter than me or further back than me must have seen less than I did. It makes me wonder whether the staging was too low? Idk~

When I could see Ariana though, she absolutely does radiate star power. wub.gif

Overall... a great night! heart.gif

Yeah, Social House opened the show but they were only on stage for about 10 minutes. I was expecting Boyfriend after that too. laugh.gif

I enjoyed Saturday but her music isn't really my style. I hardly knew any of the songs (although there were a few which I knew, but didn't know they were hers laugh.gif ). And the one song that I did know, she didn't do, but of course I understand why.

The staging was ok but the lighting made it hard to take photos. My other criticism was that she didn't seem to interact with the crowd much, it was just song after song after song.

While I probably wouldn't go to see her again, I did enjoy the show. She is very talented and has amazing vocals and so much energy.

Pressure is on you now *.*

Posted by: Theonix Sep 20 2019, 01:02 PM

The show was absolutely incredible! Obviously I knew her vox were incredible from seeing (hearing) her at Manchester Pride but I really wasn't expecting her to put on such a show staging/choreography wise. The staging for the opening with the Last Supper theme was genius and worked really well, it made me really appreciate God is a woman which I have always found to be the most overrated single of hers. The moons were obviously visually incredible too

I'm not sure what my highlight would be but I'm so glad that she performed Into You, although the crowd where I was standing were not as there for it as they were with some of the lesser known tracks, which was annoying laugh.gif

When she stopped for the crowd to cheer after Side to Side was probably my favourite moment, the love for her was absolutely amazing to witness

Finally I loved the appreciation of her LGBT fanbase during the encore! It was a really nice, simple message wub.gif Definitely one of my favourite gigs that I've been to and quite an impressive setlist overall - covering album tracks from all(?) of her albums is not something that many pop artists would be able to do

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 20 2019, 04:38 PM

I’m distraught I didn’t go to a single show sad.gif

I really hope there’s a dvd or like a streaming of one of the shows put up on Netflix or Apple Music or something.

I just don’t have any friends who Stan her and I felt scared going alone although now I’m going to see Xtina alone so in hindsight I really could’ve went alone laugh.gif

Posted by: Jade Oct 4 2019, 05:13 PM

My tickets arrived today!! wub.gif clear bag from her merch store also turned up the other day. Cannot wait for the 15th!

(I would love a DVD too Jordan. Lately I've been watching previous tours on YouTube that fans have filmed, but it would be great to have HQ footage on an actual DVD)

I'm intrigued about what the slight change will be at post-European leg shows!

I heard that she cut out 'Successful' the other night, it's my least favourite 'Sweetener' song so I won't be mad if she does it again at my show on Tuesday kink.gif

Posted by: Bloodjerdling Oct 15 2019, 09:29 AM

TODAY!!! Cannot wait to see her wub.gif

Posted by: Bloodjerdling Oct 16 2019, 09:31 AM

I had a great time last night wub.gif

- She has always come across as a superb vocalist during live performances on tv and YouTube, but there’s nothing quite like experiencing that voice in real life, she was phenomenal - got chills during some of the big moments (e.g. towards the end of ‘God is a woman’ and ‘Dangerous Woman’)
- She indeed performed ‘Tattooed Heart’ at my show and that felt like a special moment <3
- ‘no tears left to cry’ was my overall highlight, her vocals were beautiful throughout and I loved the homage to the video with the umbrella choreography and the ethereal intro of the song wub.gif
- I was living for the opening double of ‘raindrops (an angel cried)’ to ‘God is a woman’ and felt even more salty about the ‘Sweetener’ track list as a result laugh.gif
- Pretty much every song that involved the Sweetener tour rings lighting up (we were given these for free at the arena) popped off! ‘7 rings’, ‘Break Free’, ‘Side To Side’, ‘NASA’ and ‘sweetener’ in particular worked so well in a live setting out of the uptempos <3
- I love that the set-list included something from every era!
- I was very much here for the interludes - Adore wub.gif in my head wub.gif and this was the first time I’ve ever heard her cover of ‘My Heart Belongs To Daddy’ and I loved it - so classy!
- I loved how spacey the visuals throughout were, although I do understand comments here about the staging dwarfing her a little, that and the glaring omission of ‘One Last Time’ (although of course I respect Ari’s decision) were the only flaws for me
- They blasted ‘Don’t Call Me Angel’ in the arena before Ariana’s set *.*

Really good experience, I would see her live again in a heartbeat! Shame that no programmes were a part of this tour, but I did pick up two t-shirts - a black one that says ‘thank u, next!’ and has images from the ‘7 rings’ video on it, plus the ‘thank u, sweet’ shirt with the split colours design.

I was there last night too. Couldn’t get over how incredible her voice was throughout. I knew she was an amazing vocalist but hearing it love just confirmed how much of a powerhouse she really is. Can’t imagine doing that for 80 nights...

Highlights for me were Dangerous Woman, God is a woman, The Light is Coming (!), 7 Rings and thank u next, which was such a perfect closer. Loved the sweetener rings so much, such a great touch. Already looking forward to the next tour now.

Posted by: LewisGT Oct 16 2019, 11:14 AM

Oh how cool that you were also there last night, Cremey *.* + thanks Lewis heart.gif

I had just presumed that the Sweetener rings were a part of every show ohmy.gif here is a good quality video of them lighting up during 'the light is coming':

Also at the tour yesterday I saw a couple of girls being filmed talking about the concert, plus others have said they were, e.g. this tweet:

So perhaps some kind of documentary or tour movie is coming?

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 16 2019, 02:32 PM

YASSS! I'd love one of those tour documentary things for her. wub.gif

I'm SO jealous you got sweetener rings omg. I've always wanted to experience a concert with one of those laugh.gif sad.gif But SO glad you both had a great time! She is really something else live. What a star!

She said the following on her Instagram story:

QUOTE
“Hi my loves, so I’m still very sick. I’ve been sick since the last London show. I don’t know how it’s possible but my throat and head are still in so much pain.”

"I sound okay I’m just in a lot of pain and it’s difficult to breathe during the show. I am seeing my doctor and trying my v best to get better for tomorrow’s show.

"The last thing I would ever want to do is cancel a show at this point with so few left. I’m truly cherishing every moment of this… I just really don’t know what’s happening with my body right now and need to figure it out.”

Oh dear, hope she gets well soon! She’s been working ridiculously hard with touring, bring on the break.

Edit: she had to cancel tonight’s show and #GetWellSoonAriana is trending as a result!

4 years since her last tour kicked off!! I nearly didn't go but then thankfully more London dates were released.

I'd love to see her again but with more impressive staging this time. Vocally she was impeccable!
