Oh no, I forgot to vote in this in the end!
Lots of amazing songs in the Top 100 but I’m so surprised that Nadine’s Go to Work is as low as 119th and an average score of under 6.  Who wasn’t appreciating that amazing song?  Out of all these songs I definitely wouldn’t consider I Want Candy as the very worst. Poor Melanie! (After skimming through, it should have been Jenny Frost’s totally nondescript Crash Landing. ”Bloody hell, Jenny Frost’s #50!” - Lisa Scott Lee.  )

LOVED IT: Nick F1 (8) & Jack (8) HATED IT: vibe (3) UK Chart Run: : {65}-> 01 Kicking the Top 100 off is Mutya Buena with her second solo single 'Just A Little Bit', which unfortunately was unable to replicate the success of 'Real Girl' that proceeded it as it limped in at #65, leaving poor Mutya off to a poor start . The song itself is nice enough and I do actually really like it, but I always thought it was an odd choice of single over 'B Boy Baby' at the time as Amy Winehouse who features was huge at the time, and that tends to be far better remembered since too. 099 | Melanie C - Here It Comes Again | 6.09 LOVED IT: Lukuzz (8) & AaronTM (8) HATED IT: Liam (4) & Euphorique (4)) UK Chart Run: : {07}-16-27-47-65-67-71-X-47-> 08 At #99 is Melanie C with the lead single from her sophomore album, Here It Comes Again. A fairly bland effort to kick off her second era with in my opinion, and 'On The Horizon' would have been a much better choice. It didn't reach the same heights of success that her previous efforts did either. I don't really have much to say on this song and I'm surprised to see it as high as this tbh! 098 | Beyoncé (ft. Slim Thug) - Check On It | 6.12 LOVED IT: Jonjo (10), Jack (9) & Euphorique (8) HATED IT: Queefantine (0) UK Chart Run: : 04-{03}-04-06-06-13-27-31-41-47-66-> 12 At #98 is Beyoncé with 'Check On It', her Soundtrack single from The Pink Panther and a bridge gap single between her first and second era's. It was a big Top 3 hit for Queen B, and I often think this is severely underrated. A really fun R&B bop! I still enjoy it now and wish Beyoncé wouldn't take herself so seriously at times and release bops like this again. 097 | Louise - Lead Me On | 6.13 LOVED IT: SamJudd (10) & Jonjo (9) HATED IT: Lukuzz (0) UK Chart Run: : DNC At #97 is Louise with her most recent single, the Clean Bandit (!!) produced 'Lead Me On'. It wasn't a commercial success for Louise but it's a fun carefree bop, that I'm sure if released by Jess Glynne or someone similar would've been a hit. It's much better than I remember it being upon relistening, the lead single 'Stretch' is yet to come however! 096 | Beyoncé - Me, Myself & I | 6.15 LOVED IT: ...readyforit (11) & Jack (10) HATED IT: NickF1 (2), Euphorique (2) & Queefantine (2) UK Chart Run: : {11}-15-26-29-33-44-61-> 07 At #96 is Beyoncé again with the third single to be released from her debut album, 'Me, Myself & I' and her first ballad. I think this is probably one of Bey's most underrated songs ever, the lyrics, the production and her vocals really shine on it. It deserved to be a much bigger hit than it was. Unfortunately it's largely forgotten about now so it's done well to do as well as it has here! 095 | Alesha Dixon - Let's Get Excited | 6.16 LOVED IT: AaronTM (9.5), SamJudd (8), Jack (8) & Jonjo (8) HATED IT: Spiceboy (1) UK Chart Run: : 48-37-25-{13}-18-24-38-53-60-> 09 At #95 is Alesha Dixon with the third single to be released off of her sophomore album 'Let's Get Excited' which is such a in your face fun bop that I loved from Alesha! It was another Top 20 hit for when Alesha was probably at her peak of success. 094 | Beyoncé - Work It Out | 6.25 LOVED IT: Lukuzz (10) HATED IT: Jonjo (1) UK Chart Run: : {07}-13-18-26-31-40-46-57-74-X-58-52-> 11 At #94 is Beyoncé , this time with her first ever single 'Work It Out' which was a Soundtrack single for Austin Powers. It was a Top 10 hit for Bey, but I remember being very surprised it wasn't quite the huge hit a lot of people expected it to be! Of course, that all changed very shortly. The song itself is very in your face but isn't her best, and at times annoying. Not the best single to launch Beyoncé with. 093 | Beyoncé - Hold Up | 6.25 (more 10's) LOVED IT: SamJudd (10) & blacksquare (10) HATED IT: Queefantine (0) UK Chart Run: : 17-{11}-24-28-26-40-52-51-62-64-59-> 11 At #93 is Beyoncé again! This time it's with the second single to be taken off of her most recent album 'Lemonade', 'Hold Up' - a female empowerment anthem with a stylish video to match that had everyone talking for that iconic car smash scene. It did well to hit #11 in the UK considering it was a Tidal exclusive, I'm sure it would've been a huge Top 5 hit for her otherwise and 'Formation' that preceeded it would've been #01. Alas, this era of Bey isn't chart focused and wants to make important and effective songs. One of the most creative and important artists on this countdown imho. And I'm not even a huge fan! 092 | Kelly Rowland (ft. Eve - Like This) | 6.28 LOVED IT: AaronTM (9.5) HATED IT: Spiceboy (2) UK Chart Run: : 18-{04}-05-08-10-14-19-25-36-37-48-69-> 12 From Beyoncé to Kelly Rowland, with the lead single from her sophomore album, certified BOP 'Like This' which features Eve. It was a sizeable Top 5 hit for K-Ro in the UK, however it fared much worse in the US where it peaked at #30. 091 | Beyoncé - Run The World (Girls) | 6.28 (more 10's) LOVED IT: Queefantine (10) HATED IT: NickF1 (2) & Euphorique (2)) UK Chart Run: : 18-{11}-19-37-45-22-29-30-36-39-23-32-41-49-73-> 15 At #91 is Beyoncé with the lead single off her third studio album 'Run The World (Girl)', which heavily sampled Major Lazer's 'Pon De Floor' which split opinion at the time and wasn't the huge hit Bey had hoped for, peaking at #11 in the UK and just #29 in the US! It is probably the most divisive Beyoncé song to date, people seem to hate it or love it ... I'm indifferent now but I was firmly in the hate camp when originally released and found it a chore to listen to originally! |

It makes sense ofc, I just assumed it was a song that was aimed to sound like it could be from them :') SUCH a banger though. I agree that had it been Clean Bandit feat. a currently popular female artist, then it would have smashed. < Beyoncé - Me, Myself & I > Never got into this one. So boring. < Alesha Dixon - Let's Get Excited > A bop! So fun and joyous. < Beyoncé - Work It Out > Horrendous. I've always hated this. It's just a racket with a screechy vocal. LOVED IT: Euphorique (10) HATED IT: blacksquare (2) UK Chart Run: : {06}-17-27-31-46-67-72-> 07 At #90 is Victoria Beckham with her second solo single 'A Mind Of It's Own', after the intial disappointing chart result of her debut 'Not Such An Innocent Girl' this had to smash for our Vic! Unfortunately it only got to #06 which at the time, just wasn't good enough. I'll always remember when her manager was interviewed on the chart show that CBBC used to do, saying it was really disappointing and she would be dropped :') I was devastated as I loved this song, a great pop song with a strong melodic chorus. Poor Vic! 89 | Siobhan Donaghy - Twist Of Fate | 6.32 LOVED IT: SamJudd (10), *dandy (10) HATED IT: vibe (3) UK Chart Run: : {52}-> 01 At #89 is the first of FOUR (!!!) entries for Siobhan Donaghy, with 'Twist Of Fate', the second and final single from her debut album. It flopped hard and didn't even make Top 40 for Siobhan! It's a nice enough song, and I remember Radio 1 loving her at the time, but it does nothing for me personally but she seems to have her fans on here! 88 | Melanie C - Loving You (w/ Matt Cardle) | 6.33 LOVED IT: Spiceboy (10) HATED IT: Queefantine (0) UK Chart Run: : {14}-37-60-> 03 At #97 is Melanie C with her collaboration with X Factor winner, Matt Cardle, for the lead single off of his sophomore album. I was surprised that this even went Top 20 at the time, but I do remember it being huge on Heart etc. It's a nice enough song but is very much a poor man's 'When You're Gone' imo with half of the chemistry involved. 87 | Louise - Stretch | 6.37 LOVED IT: Euphorique (10) HATED IT: Lukuzz (0) UK Chart Run: : DNC At #87 is Louise with her comeback single 'Stretch', although it didn't make a tiny dent in the charts, it is honestly one of my favourite Louise songs and one of my favourite songs of last year. A mature R&B tinged song with plenty of hooks, similar to Little Mix's 'Move'. It is so so underappreciated and if you haven't already listened, I strongly urge you to! A bop!! 86 | Beyoncé - Love On Top | 6.39 LOVED IT: vibe (10), Nickxcx (10) HATED IT: Queefantine (-1) UK Chart Run: : 75-54-X-28-22-23-23-22-20-{13}-15-22-26-29-38-49-58-66-74-> 18 At #96 is Beyoncé with the third single to be released from her fourth studio album '4', Love On Top. A surprise to me as I thought it was a fan fave! Personally I don't see the fuss, and find it really annoying - the key changes are so over the top and it probably ranks amongst her worst for me personally. 85 | Louise - Let's Go Round Again | 6.40 LOVED IT: vibe (8) HATED IT: Nickxcx (4) UK Chart Run: : {10}-15-19-23-21-22-22-42-55-> 09 At #85 is Louise again with her cover of Average White Band's 'Let's Go Round Again' and is her most successful single worldwide as it charted throughout Europe! Upon re-listening to it, it's a cute bop and instantly feels familiar and I'm not familiar with the original. Feels a lot bigger than it was. 84 | Mel B - For Once In My Life | 6.48 LOVED IT: Queefantine (11), Lukuzz (10) HATED IT: *Dandy (1) UK Chart Run: : DNC At #84 is Mel B with her most recent single 'For Once In My Life' which was a #02 hit! ..... on the US Billboard Dance Chart, which I suppose is impressive? idk. It also got to #30 on the UK Indie charts :'). The song itself is a carefree bop and doesn't take itself seriously at all, honestly one of my fave Mel B songs oops. 83 | Louise - Beautiful Inside | 6.50 LOVED IT: Queefantine (10) HATED IT: Lukuzz (0) UK Chart Run: : {13}-31-43-58-> 04 At #83 is Louise again! This time it's with the second single to be taken off of her third studio album 'Elbow Beach', 'Beautiful Inside'. It unfortunately wasn't quite as big of a hit as the lead single, '2 Faced', which I think is her biggest selling single? It's a nice enough song but just doesn't really go anywhere. She has much better in her discography personally. 82 | Beyoncé - Sorry | 6.51 LOVED IT: SamJudd (10), blacksquare (10) HATED IT: Queefantine (2) UK Chart Run: : {33}-33-> 02 At #82 is Beyoncé with 'Sorry', the third single to be taken off of her most recent album 'Lemonade' and an album highlight! It is also famous for the line 'Becky with the good hair' which caused a stir on social media. The single was a hit despite it's chart positions and is one of her best known songs from the album, as it peaked at #11 in the US and stuck around well. She used it on tour with the Tiffany Pollard quote 'BEYONCE?!' quote. Queen. 81 | Emma Bunton - Take My Breath Away | 6.53 LOVED IT: Euphorique (10) HATED IT: Queefantine (0) UK Chart Run: : {05}-14-25-38-48-51-48-45-56-> 09 At #81 is Emma Bunton with her second official solo single, 'Take My Breath Away' showing a more mellow side to her. It was a Top 5 hti for Emma but didn't stick around as long as her previous hits. It's a cute song and I have fond memories of it being on the radio a lot when I was younger, for the amount of promotion it got, I thought it would've been bigger at the time. It's nice to see it high up here. |
