Hi i'm Molly Sandén, winner of the 28th Buzzjack Song Contest and you're joining me for the results of the 29th Buzzjack Unknown Song Contest.

The ASC and SNÁ have asked me to inform you that the penalty for not voting is a 57% deduction. They reached this decision by adding the 24hr extension to the standard 33% deduction.

The final count is still taking place and i'm being told that 4 votes have still to be added up at this point!

I'm going to visit each country in the order in which they voted with Ashton having the final vote which could change everything.

Mutya and Keisha send their love but unfortunately could not host the results due to studio commitments.


On behalf of the Federal Republic of Ashton, the ASC and SNÁ i wish to apologise for the delays the proceedings have been subject too.

Before we begin with the first vote, I'm going to open the show with my winning entry, Mitt Liv Ar Mitt!

I can see why it's getting 18's from some and then nul's from a load more. It's probably a bit marmite - a twee chorus mixed with Ke$ha like vocals in the verses, but I love the combination of the two.

I disagree with The Sound of Arrows as I actually prefer Release Me which was a worthy winner. Both are amongst my all time favourite songs though, so needless to say I was pleased with that top 2

Anna I agree with. I love Alphabeat but Numayania's winner should have been either or both of Mercy Mercy and Stay The Night! At least Music Everywhere came top 5 in the best of

Zoe/Zowie's songs were really the only two that screamed 'winner' to me after listening to all 36, hence me putting them convincingly as the top two on my odds, despite that being two weeks back before anyone had voted or even talked about the songs. What was the significance of 57% by the way? Really great top ten Only a couple of songs in there that I didn't really care for...I actually preferred the last Japayork entry to this one despite its super flop and the Popjustice/Tyron (one and the same) hype of this one Nice to see my top three all make the top ten! And a nice quirk that three of the artists in the top four start with Z - rather bizarre seeing as one would be weird enough! Very pleased with second too - and looking up and down the scoreboard, most of the countries at the top of the all time stats have performed as well as ever, which basically proves friendly voting theories nul and void. Although, I have to say that I actually liked the fact that I didn't feel pressure to perform well because of past form.

Thanks for the support (and for the 15 points) and I loved the animation as well! To be fair, SHINee did a hell of a lot better than I thought it would, me and my friends loved the track (some of them hate Asian pop normally too) which made my mind up about entering it; I was hesitant, because the last time I entered a Korean song it was by a girlband, with a Europop track that only managed about 40 points and a bottom 10 finish, so to get almost 100 points (well 94, but y'know close enough) with a boyband that seemed unpopular to even the few Asian pop lovers around here, was a great achievement. Which reminds me, I very much needs to thank;

Ojnoj, N-lazone, Botanikka, Espen, Xanaga, Torchwood, Lievant, Sangria, Numayania, Kingdom of Shadow, Ashton & especially Eledan, Jamora (again ) and Lorikeet for the 15 points. Also, an extra special shout out to Ljósið, I was so chuffed when you put SHINee in your sig for a while, I'm glad I managed to create at least one mini-loon

And lastly, thank you to Ashton for being a great, enthusiastic host! Despite the few technical hitches I hope it lived up to your expectations Phil

Thanks to everyone for voting Ellie ! Saw a couple of complaints (I think from Bray) about it being cheap... Don't understand where exactly it's cheap, seeing as it's a demo and belongs to no album at all? I'm pretty sure most (unless an uber fan of Ellie) would have heard it before.


Big WTF at the random 24% deduction put on top?!!? I'm pretty sure most hosts, myself included, have given extra time for votes.. so why all of a sudden is 57% deduction been allowed? I didn't even know there was a 24hr extension after not actually being on a computer for more than 10 mins over the weekened etc.

Well I've seen people before suggesting that some of the big countries only keep doing well because there are 'popular' members behind the countries and they have a number of friends voting for their entries by default. And the fact that a lot of these countries have ended up top ten again helps to disprove this fact. Maybe it's just an anomaly and next time we'd see a top ten full of people whose entries don't usually do so well but I think it's more about certain genres having more widespread appeal to be honest, and the countries that don't usually do so well tend to opt for riskier entries (which is great) but with only niche appeal, imo.

I think it's probably more a case that the big countries have popular tastes rather than it being because they're popular themselves.

Unfortunately even if it does have maybe a tinge of unfairness.....it's not actually unfair if you think about it. Just the way it goes. It's not as much of a problem in the actual eurovision because you have such a larger voting base...so tastes are more spread.

It's the curse of being outnumbered taste wise.

Um. I have to say, your deduction here was a bit uncalled for and slightly hypocritical. When was the last time the host gave non-voters a deduction of anything more than 33%?! The 33% is a blanket ban and not something that can just be manipulated as the host sees fit. You gave them an extra 24 hours, so what?! I'm sure you're not the first host to extend a deadline and you won't be the last. An extra 24% deduction is ridiculous. I find it particularly amusing that you'd be so harsh, given the delayed kickstart this contest got off to...

There was warnings deductions would be harsh for not voting and they have been very harsh in the past.

And as for the late kick off, that has been well explained. Laptop death does tend to get in the way of posting things when everything is saved on the laptop.

I have a much wider music taste than my entries would suggest, but where is the point of sending a rock or urban track I like when it will appeal to 4 people? I'd rather send one of my favourite pop tracks and actually introduce something that a lot of people have the potential to love. Obviously it is harsh on those countries who only send indie and rock to the contest, because that's their taste, but it's just the way the contest is - primarily it's a pop contest and they'd find more success in Unknown Pleasures I think where there tastes are more catered to.

I've always considered this contest as somewhere where I send the songs I love and want to send regardless of what genre they are....and apart from maybe once that's exactly what I've done.

In fact I remember at the start of the contest when I joined I think I got a pep talk from someone saying you should send what you love and not what you expect to do well. (or something along those lines)

I've nearly always sent my favourite song to the contest at that moment in time that wasn't in the charts or cheap in some other way. Which genre it is hasn't particularly been an issue, but obviously being a major pop fan - the song that usually qualifies for this is a pop song of some sort, but it's not like I've never dabbled in any other genres. I never send old favourites of mine as I don't feel like I can really get behind supporting songs that are ancient to me. Exceptions to this were Stumble and Glorious (the contest was just starting!) and Varsta Schlagern (everyone was doing something different that month ).

I know I was horrified. However her new material has redefined the word AMAZING. I know i throw that about quite a bit, but i am in love with her new album. When you get your internet back let me know and i'll send you the link. I about died when i discovered she had a whole new album of orgasmic anthems out.

July 2008 I almost certainly discovered it after youtubing it from your chart. I wouldn't say I found it instant but it did pique my interest on the first listen and I got more and more into it each time I heard it



True! About an hour before the voting window closed wasn't it?

I haven't been able to hear it - although I'm all too aware that it's leaked! I'm getting soooooooooooo irritated not being able to download anything I've got a list of albums as long as my arm ready to download when I get a decent connection back and Tone is most certainly near the top. Although the title Cocool seems a bit bizarre

How long does it take to load a youtube video? I'd load up the single Crazy Cool its pure epic and imo worth the wait. [The album title comes from the track "Co-cool, Crazy cool, co-cool, crazy cool"] There are more uptempo's on Cocool than on I Know. She really rocks an uptempo and Crazy Cool is fo' sho' up there with Butterflies
