Great to see Loud Luxury in the Top 10!

Shame to see a few tracks falling such as Panic! At The Disco and Au/Ra & Camelphat. I was hoping they'd climb further.

Update above.

Posted by: Mart!n 6th August 2018, 05:05 PM

Never expected Travis Scotts' new singles that high, most likely fall away, and Jax Jones, Cheat Mix, Tyga or Juice WRLD, might just sneak in there. Mind you there could be a lot of data missing.

I would have thought, with streaming data missing that Travis Scott's singles will only climb throughout the week? Surely streaming is in effect the only thing going for him.

But with his daily streams decreasing, the missing data won't be so beneficial going forward.

Posted by: Dobbo 6th August 2018, 05:36 PM

Yes that is true! I suppose some element of it depends on just how clustered that back end of the top 10 is come Friday.

Certainly on lock for Loud Luxury, fantastic stuff.

Robyn at #56, really hope she can stay top 75 <3 well, I really hope she can stay top 100, more realistically. Top 100 is the official boundary these days I guess??

The only sore point Robyn won't get a mention in the sales articles if she falls between 76-100.

I wouldn't have predicted James to get the highest new entry on the album charts but looks like it might be the case

I'm guessing that the album is performing well on streams as the album doesn't seem to have had a price decrease to explain its climb back up the charts in recent weeks. It is most likely gaining under a slightly absurd rule that allows any tracks that are streamed from Rumours which are also on a "Best Of" or "Greatest Hits" album by the band to also have those same streams count towards the highest selling compilation album by Fleetwood Mac. For Fleetwood Mac this is The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac as their other main compilation album, 'Greatest Hits' has been relegated to the Budget Albums chart and so no streams can be added to that album (the Budget Albums chart is based on paid for sales only). Add in that The Very Best Of also contains a number of other well known Fleetwood Mac tracks from other albums then I'm assuming its streaming sales are being boosted even further.

The relevant chart rule:

QUOTE
9.3 Multiple Albums

Where a track appears on more than one album by an artist, streams of this track will be attributed equally to each studio album and a maximum of one greatest hits album (the hits title with the highest sales DUS for that given week, or other hits title nominated in advance by label).

BMG have once again delivered a stellar set of physicals for fan multi buying which is helping (Standard CD, Deluxe CD, Vinyl, White Vinyl and Cassette).

So Come together streams contribute to this track, also to Abbey Road and 1 but not to 1967-1970 or Past Masters.
Yellow Submarine streams contribute to this track, also to Yellow Submarine album, Yellow Submarine Songtrack and 1 but not to 1962-1966 or Past Masters.
Or is Songtrack regarded as a Greatest Hits album?

Im more inclined to think the Fleetwovd mac album must be on sale somewhere rather than streams

Posted by: danG 7th August 2018, 11:34 AM

the greatest hits of Fleetwood Mac has constantly in the top 40 for the 2018, I'd say it's almost definitely due to streaming; as they are a legacy act their GH (and 'Rumours') are definitely getting a lot of streams.

Spotify show them as having over 11 million monthly listeners (worldwide, but they are most popular in London with 468k listeners) and their top five songs have over 100 million streams each. They're definitely popular on streaming.

Here's the most recent part of its chart run, since it re-entered in late 2016 it hasn't left the top 100 since:

97-95-82-64-70-79-82-60-54-67-56-46-39-35-38-46-42-47-34-42-34-39-35-38-42-56-94-89-43-44-45-47-47-42-39-39-40-39-48-42-34-36-44-36-32-46-44-42-49-62-72-76-71-75-55-40-38-36-38-28-23-26-24-27-27-29-27-17-17-17-11-21-24-24-25-26-26-26-31-33-29-34-30-28-22-23-

Posted by: Bjork 7th August 2018, 12:07 PM

but I thought we discussed it a while ago (in regards to Bob Marley -Legend being top 20) and
the conclusion was that streams alone were not enough to make it top 20
so it was half/half

Posted by: danG 7th August 2018, 12:16 PM

It may well be half and half but it still wouldn't be so high if not for streaming being included.

Posted by: Bjork 7th August 2018, 12:25 PM

I checked the streaming vs physical album chart and Bob Marley - Legend does the same on both charts
but Fleetwood Mac-Best does better on streaming, same x oasis-Time Flies
so you're right, FM has lots of streaming counting for its position

If you go to an artist's Spotify page and click on the 'Monthly listeners' at the top right, it'll give you their top 5 biggest cities.

Posted by: Bré 7th August 2018, 03:46 PM

The Fleetwood Mac album is #59 on sales right now as well so it's not solely charting due to streams.

I'm feeling like it probably won't get a second top 75 week.

Thanks for answering dan seems a bit silly a stream can count to multiple albums but the occ getting stranger and complex with its rules laugh.gif

Makes sense that the rumours tracks contribute most as that album also never seems to leave

Also sorry for starting a debate laugh.gif

Scraping into the top 75, literally... we’ve gotta hope she can stay in the 100

Hope Rudilazer can get at least one week in the top 40. It’s annoying that they keep missing out because people are still not moving on from These Days

Correct!

He won’t be far behind George Ezra though will he? Missing streaming data might push George out of the Top 5

Posted by: SKOB 8th August 2018, 11:34 AM

I think #4 for Drake on Friday

Posted by: pippa 8th August 2018, 03:05 PM

If the next George Ezra single can become a hit i can see his album returning to number 1.
It is wonderful the album is remaining steady and building sales.

"Hold My Girl" is penned in as next single from what we understand - amazing song - but think it'd be more suited to the Christmas period, with "Pretty Shining People" serving as a late summer/early autumn anthem.

Posted by: gavindeejay 8th August 2018, 03:39 PM

I do wonder if George's team could draft a big female singer to feature on 'Hold My Girl' (simular to Perfect) to help keep sales and momentum going?

I really hope they don't go down the "Perfect" route. George also is nowhere near as big globally as Ed is to get a Beyoncé feature to be fair tongue.gif

I know what I’m here for and it’s to track the new James album for the rest of the week.

I know he's not as big as Ed and I wasn't suggesting a big superstar like Beyonce, but I do think there's scope to get someone like Dua Lipa or Rita Ora on board and aim it for Christmas Number 1!

James will most likely end up at #6, with both Drake and George Ezra overtaking them by the end of the week from strong streaming figures.

Thanks Dan tongue.gif

I think Robyn will miss out on top 100 and Kojo Funds will be top 90 with all these streaming data missing.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 9th August 2018, 01:24 PM

I'm assuming YouTube must be a significant contributor in 'No Brainer' climbing this week?

The Years & Years album is holding up better than I thought it would. It'd be nice if they went with 'All For You' next, it becomes a big hit and propels the album even further.

Posted by: Hans 9th August 2018, 01:30 PM

Robyn has only dropped from 75 to 'top 80' in the last two days. I think it’ll make the top 100 now based on "Three Lions" hanging on inside the top 100 the week it fell from 1.

Posted by: pippa 9th August 2018, 01:31 PM

While Robyn, deserves to be so much higher i would welcome a top 100 entry.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 9th August 2018, 01:38 PM

I wish Robyn would have just released this on Friday itself, that would have made a difference as I'm not whollly confident it'll get any higher than it achieves this week. sad.gif

Hoping it can though, of course.

We have the exact same idea! "Hold My Girl" would really suit an X-Factor performance to propel it into the top 10 - if he pushes them like you say then I reckon he has two more easy top 5's on his hands.

All I want is for Rudilazer to make the top 40 tomorrow

Posted by: ThePensmith 9th August 2018, 02:37 PM

Well this is proving to be one of the quietest Augusts in recent memory chart wise. Not helped of course by endless Drake log jammed at the top, but arguing with that is like arguing with Pavlov's dog these days. It should make what happens in Q4 seem all the more exciting!

Posted by: Steve201 9th August 2018, 06:27 PM

Yeh it's quiet - there's no big albums out at all, if we didn't have the top 2 soundtrack albums selling bucket loads and Drakes streams propelling him to 16-20k sales we would be nowhere.

Anyone know if Eastside has a chance of breaking the top 10 ahead of Taste and Lucid Dreams?
