I think the way it's going, 'Houdini' might go on to become my favourite Dua single and I was adamant there was no way 'Don't Start Now' could be topped.

I still can't get enough of it, it sounds just as good as when I first heard it and it's so addictive it's unreal.

Houdini is timeless pop...I swear people in 5 years from now will be saying 'How come this didn't become a HUGE smash hit!!!'

I’ve concluded it’s very Kelly Clarkson trajectory with FN being Breakaway and RO being My December especially since both FN and B peaked at #3 in the US, and the follow ups looking to both peak at #2 despite being underperformances of sorts (obviously jury is still out with RO)

I still don't understand how it wasn't number one for 800 weeks, even my 60 year old friend loved it!

It's still possible for it be that elusive 800 week number one. Give it time!

She better not be perform at Mercer Labs because I wanted to go there, but it’s orthodox Easter and had to go to my friends dinner. But if she ends up performing there I will never forgive myself and probably blame my friend and his Easter for life!!!

Ok so she performed at Times Square.

She did Training Season, Houdini, Happy For You and Illusion.

It was very lowkey and it was raining outside lol but she gave us great vocals!!!

I've given the album a few listens now so I think I can come to a conclusion.

The majority of the album is great but the singles really stand out as being excellent. The root issue of the tracks that I don't like right now is being too generic I think? Anyway, there were obviously some fantastic ideas throughout the album and the melodies are really catchy. At least it doesn't have any tracks as bad as 'Good In Bed' or 'Boys Will Be Boys' kink.gif

Highlights: 'Houdini', 'Training Season', 'Whatcha Doing', 'Illusion', 'Falling Forever', 'Maria', 'Happy For You'

The album is up to 72 on Metacritic (17 reviews), same score as DL1. Future Nostalgia had a score of 88.

Not sure if staying with TAP would've helped. I think that at some point the label (Dua is their most popular artist) thought that the album needs streaming hits and the overall vision was watered down. I just refuse to think that she intentionally "oversold" the album lol it must have changed at some point.

Omg FN got 88 ohmy.gif I know it was an amazing album but I didn't expect the critics to be so fair considering its a female pop album! 72 isn't too bad a drop tbf and at least it isn't lower than DL1. It being level with DL1 makes sense though as it sounds more towards that album than FN. I think what really benefitted Dua with FN was it had a clear sonic theme - 80s sound and futuristic elements (the weaker tracks for me BWBB , GIB and PP all deviated from the theme funnily enough). I guess radical optimism is a theme in itself but not as exciting personally.
